sudhan 14-11-2002, 07:14:AM Can i play ps1 and ps2 games in PC? What kind of sofware do I need? Last time they had bleem! which I used but I uninstalled it and cannot download from net as I can't find the company webaite. So what kind of sofware do I need?
ManUGrobar 14-11-2002, 07:31:AM You cant atleast till they create an emulator or something like that.
you certainly can on the Mac (with emulator). Har de har de haar...windoze sucks...
TristanAbbott7 14-11-2002, 09:17:AM You definitely can on the PS1. Download an emulator called ePSXe 1.5.2 and the plug-ins and it will run pretty much any PS1 game out there. Some of them you have to slow down a little but it isn't hard to do that.
My friend had a PS1 for 3 years and before he sold it we played every game he had on my PC with little or no problem.
There isn't a working emulator for the PS2 yet which will play anything other than demo games. It's got nothing to do with the "abilities" of the PS2 because technically the PS2 is only equivalent to an entry level PC with a decent graphics card. The PS2 can never achieve resolutions that even a $70 graphics card can handle and as long as you have a processor over 1ghz it will only be a matter of time before a working one appears.
(p.s. If you're one of these die-hard PS2 fanatics who refuses to believe anything is more powerful than your PS2 please do some research so I don't have to publish the tech specs and deride you as the moron you are. It's a great console but not all-powerful.)

I agree with all you have said except the fact that a 1 Ghz will handle PS2 emulation. Look at PS1. A PIII 600 can barely handle full speed emulation at even the lowest resolutions, an the PS1 has a 30MHZ processor or so IIRC. Now the PS2 has like 6-8 times the proccessing power of the PS1. A C++ encoded emulator for the PS2 through extrapolation would require at least a 3.6-4.8 MHZ proccessor to run full speed. We do not even have proccessors that fast yet and the PS2 has way for features in hardware than the PS1 apart from the CPU.
U can download emulator for PS 1 and PS 2 through Kazaa (lite version recommended to download, other versions r spywares). For PS 2 games u must have DVD and DVD PS 2 games couse those emulators doesn't support pirate software.
Cheers
serhat09 14-11-2002, 09:41:AM You need a REALLY good computer to run those...and those emulators cant run all games anyway....your probably just better off getting the console...even though it is $$$$ pricey!! :)

That's because low quality programming. And, PS 2 does have powerfull processor unit, but not more powerfull than 1 GHz...
serhat09 14-11-2002, 09:47:AM Hey, the PS2 processor on Paper is not strong, but the way the system was built is very unique....the system has 2 or 3 processors in it for handling different types of things...like Graphics, Vectors, Calculations etc etc. But also the way the RAM was built is better than XBOX....PS2 uses smaller ram, but it is faster than a system with a bigger ram...whY????? because its like taking buckets of water...
XBOX: FILL A BIG BUCKET WITH WATER..TAKES 2 MINUTES TO LOAD THE WHOLE BUCKET...and the Memory gets "dumped" into the sink "Deleted in other words"
PS2 : FILL A SMALL BUCKET WITH WATER, IT GETS LOADED FASTER AND DUMPED FASTER WHICH ENABLES ALMOST REAL TIME LOADING
TristanAbbott7 14-11-2002, 09:50:AM I had a celeron 400 until about 2 months ago when I updated to a P4 2ghz and it was my old machine we used to play the PS1 games on. I only used to have a GeForce MX200 card in their too with my system RAM at 256 mb. We still had to slow down some of the games, even the ones which are notoriously processor hungry.
Look at any game available on the PS2 running at it's best graphics. Look at any equivalent game running on the PC and the speed and resolution is normally far superior. The PS2 is known to glitch in a number of newer titles because it can't handle the intensity of what's going on. There isn't a game title on the market which a 1ghz PC and a half-decent NVida card can't handle at far higher resolutions than the PS2 could dream of.
X box is much powerfull than PS 2, and it has much better graphics. And... about emulators, i have amd t bird 1.2 ghz, 384 mb ram and ati radeon vivo 64 mb ddr ram... PS 2 games on my computer runs great...
sudhan 18-11-2002, 05:55:AM even with emulators..must i have dvd rom and original cd to play with emulators?

bull, there are PS2 no emulators in existance that run any commercial games, what a load of crock. If there is one then where is the link? Or let me guess, it's from some secret source noone knows about?
sudhan 18-11-2002, 08:50:AM u can dload it from kazaa...
