I know that Italy has a lot of young stars coming up, but should Baggio play in 2002? He didn't make the team in EC1996 and they went out in round one.
In WC98 he was the second best attacker after Vieri.
For 2002 I would love to see him in Japan. I saw a friendly and every time either him or Leonardo touched the ball the Japanese people erupted. A true fan favorite.
I know thats not the only reason to pick someone but Italy quite frequently picks vetrans to go -Bergomi, Baresi Maldini etc.
I would love to see him get one more chance.

If he didn't make the Euro 2000 squad, he won't make the WC2002 squad, he will be even older. They will have many youngsters on the team by then(Pirlo, maybe Ventola, others)

Yes, absolutely!
He is one of those players that come once in 20 years, and he should be given the chance to play as long as he wants to.
Unfortunately, throughout his career he's had to deal with a lot of idiot coaches who, for some reason unknown to man, have been reluctant to give him the playing time he deserves.
Now, if he goes back to play for Fiorentina, which I really hope he does, he is going to be a starter without any doubt, especially with Batistuta gone. Then, it's all up to Il Codino to prove that he can still be "the man" for Italy. If he gets the chance, he'll do it, believe me.
Ahhhh, I can see it already... Baggio, Totti and Vieri leading the Italian offense...
Well, let's just hope that either Tardelli or Trapattoni thinks the same way I do...
Baggio should play because he's a fan favourite in Japan no doubt..
Italy will need his experience up front too..
the main thing is that ppl have tipped Delpiero to be the new Baggio, but i still think that Baggio is miles better than Delpiero, give him a chance and he'll never let u down!!
Same with England for Gazza, he should be given a chance again and again case these players will never let u down!

I think that we Italians must thank il CODINO NAZIONALE or Roberto Baggio for all these years.
Roberto will stay in the hearts of all Italians because i think he's the best Italian football player than all ages.

As Roberto Baggio being my favorite player I know heaps about how he likes playing. even Del Piero's IDOL is R. Baggio & Vieri even said it himself that he plays better if Baggio is up front with him.
who cares how old he is look at that German dude Lothar Matthaus. anyway Baggio has far more skill than him, he also has more FANS (like me) than most other players. bottem line a skilled Italian soccer player that did well in WORD CUP 98' deserves another chance.

Baggio MUST play for Italie. Without him they...........lost.
What a waste he didn't play in EURO2k and Italie suxx (and without Vieri too).
