When taking free kicks I can't put spin on the ball, the Shift doesn't work. So all my shots have to be just straight.

It works fine when using the keyb and shift.

Its a Powerline gamepad 8 fire button.

Help would be very good!!!!

I have a feeling that its just because my gamepad is not a proper branded on, but there is no way to reconfig the "Shift" key to another button on the pad - there are 2 buttons free as well. The L2 and R2.

Please help!!!

This is spoiling what could be one of the best games since the ps2's ProEvo2.

All i want is a key to press to allow curl on freekicks as I am using a gamepad - the shift doesn't work!!!!

Try this,

Hold down the Z-BUTTON while using your direction pad.

Tested with Logitech Wingman Extreme GamePad

On my gamepad I have two rows consisting of three buttons each. The Z-Button is the button in the upper right corner.

Hold the special tricks button and then move the direction button!
The button on the gravis gamepad pro is the R2 button
