Everton manager David Moyes has confirmed the club have agreed a deal with Marseille to bring Joseph Yobo to Goodison on a permanent basis.

The two clubs have been in discussions over the past 24 hours and the Nigerian defender is expected to seal the switch to the Merseyside club in the next few days.

Yobo is likely to cost Everton around £4.5million. He has been impressive since Moyes signed him on a year-long loan deal in the summer, with performances which have helped the club rise to third in the Premiership.

His return to fitness has coincided with the club's six-game winning streak in the league which has Everton up to third in the table - with the last five games bringing clean sheets.

The Toffees had first option on securing a permanent deal and instead of waiting until the end of his loan spell, Moyes has decided to swoop immediately as he continues to build for the future.

Moyes said: "The two clubs have agreed a deal with Marseille over Joseph Yobo.

"We have been working hard to try and finalise the deal and the board at Everton have been fantastic in putting the finances in place.

"There are still one or two matters to be sorted out with Joseph and his advisors but we hope to conclude the deal in the next couple of days."

Marseille bought Yobo from Standard Liege for £3.4million in 2001 and he made 23 appearances for the French side before emerging as one of Nigeria's best players at last summer's World Cup.

Everton paid the Le Championnat side £1million in the summer to secure his loan services for this season and are expected to pay a further £3.5million to make the deal permanent.

This is from sky soprts, i hope he does sign, it looks like he will now, what a great signing it will be, one or maybe even the best signing of the season(H) :D

Someone of his quality for anything less than £10 million is definitely a bargain.

What about Richard Wright?

7 clean sheets in a row!!

After seeing him play so disastrously for Arsenal last season, I bet nobody would have believed you if you would have told them that he was going to keep 7 clean sheets in a row whilst playing for Everton!

But I guess he gets alot of help from his defenders.

Richard Wright is keeping clean sheets, yes, and he's playing adquately well, but a lot of it is down to dogged defending in front of him.

The youngster Hibbert has fitted into right back magnificently, while Unsworth and Yobo patrolled the centre immaculately.

Wright was actually very shaky at the start of the season when he gave away penalties and conceded soft goals for fun.

Well jono I said that I didn't think Yobo would sign and it looks like he will. So I will be trying not to choke on my foot!!!!!

Joseph Yobo will be the bargain of the season. He is, at the moment, the best looking defender in the premiership and at 21...................AWESOME!!!!!!!!

So how old is Rio Ferdinand!!?!??! And how much did he goto Man utd for........oh yeah, in excess of £33 million, and we are getting a player just as good for £4.5 million. Now we see who's the shrewdest manager around.

ALL HAIL DAVID MOYES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it is not impossible.. but to be frank, everton don't have a big enough squad if injuiry hit some main player it will affect the team performance.. but having say that, everton will remain one of the hardest team to beat in the league this season... moyes has done a wonderful job there.. i won't be surprise that he will win the manager of the month award for november...

The team has so much more confidence under Moyes
Wright is looking a lot better now, but still a bit dodgy on crosses
Good back 4, Hibbert improving all the time, Yobo is shear class and Unsy is as good as ever and starting to get recognition for it and not ctritisism!
Li Tie looking good in midfield, Pembo playing v well again as is Grav when he tries
Campbell and Radz great upfront with Rooney waiting in the wings!
Strength throughout the team

Hope Ferguson retires!
