Detroit is a perfect example of why things need to be changed.

New Jersey won the game but since it was in Detroit of course the biggest ass kissers of all time are going to call off the redirected goal made by John Madden(which was a goal).

Remember the playoffs? The biggest pile of crap i ever seen.Carolina would have lost more then likely anyway but they didn't have a fair chance.Detroit is high sticking like hell with nothing being done to them(at home) while Carolina can't even throw a body check without a whistle being blown.

The problem is how can this be fixed?

Maybe eliminate home refs calling home games? Or hell hiring refs that have 2 fully funtional eyes and don't just see what the Visiting club is doing.

Hockey without a doubt has the worst :f***: refs of all time,But there has got to be a way to fix this B.S. Favortisim of Home teams.

I use detroit as an example as they can get a way with murder at home but the problem is at all home games for all clubs.

This doesn't exist only in the NHL either AHL,OHL,DEL,BSL,ect they all have this kind of crap going on and it is hurting the game big time.

unless something gets done looks like we are in for a crappy season of the NHL :(

Hockey is probably the hardest sport to referee.
There are so many players moving very fast and the puck is hard to see.

Detroit has a lot of vetern players who will get more breaks from the referees. This is just a part of the game!
I like the new rules on obstruction this year though. I think the game is getting better. the NHL knows if needs to change, so lets hope what they are doing works out!

Exactly.
There is so much contact in hockey that it is very hard to be right all the time. They do, however, try to be as consistant as they can (which usually doesn't work). Detroit do have a lot of veterans who will not only get calls but are very good at gettign away with things (without being seen).

I'm pretty sure home refs don't do home games.:crazyboy:

The refs are also taking away the fighting aspect of the game.

Fighting is a part of the game.

The rule changes are only beneficial if your team is good on the Power Play. Vancouver and Detroit have amazing PP's and that's why they enjoy the rule changes. Other teams who play a more physical game can't stand it and I understand why they get so angry.

It's hard to blame refs, they have a hard job. But honestly, a lot of refs make it hard for themselves. Stupid calls are way too common, and I still see diving going on constantly. Some things just won't change.

Fighting is a part of the game, but I dont miss it honestly.
And its not the refs, its the owners who decided on the rules (instigator, 3rd man in, etc...)

I understand the pace of the game(i play in a league) but,The problem is not missing a call it is a matter of letting home teams get away with things and refs "DO" see it,but don't call it.

For example Jay Pandolfo gets cross checked in the back of the neck is down on the ice in serious pain right in front of the refs face and no call was made.

Another example of bad refs are the fact that people get tripped and the guy who gets tripped gets called for diving :kader: they can't tell the difference between a dive or trip and they are calling a professional game?

another thing is that they are throwing out retarded pentalties as well,Can't remember what team it was but a guy gets a penalty for picking up his stick after it got knocked out of his hand

The pace of the game has no effect on being bais either,If you see someone doing something illegal right in your face the speed has nothing to do with it.

Maybe NHL should make a rule where refs have to actually "pass" the eye exam?
