View Full Version : Board Cancels Transfers
What can i do when the Board always cancels agreed transfers at the last moment.
I wanted to buy Arja Robben in my 3rd season from PSV, and the deal was settled at abt 18m. After everything's settled and confirmed the board cancels the transfer cos they think it's too unrealistic for a 19 yr old?
I tried sending scouts to get his stats and opinions but still the board rejects the big money transfer.
Btw, how can i discipline a player or the team for continuously getting red cards. Besides fining them, they still get Red frequently. Is there such a discipline training in Training mode? LOL
~X!@O^Q!@NG~ 05-12-2002, 03:43:AM Are u sure??
I bought Arjen for 26.75M
But I place the bid like this 16.75M up front..
Then the rest after 10 int appearance...
But he is one player that the board will never reject a bid for..
Cos he's worth it....
i can post a screenshot for you later?
I dunno why i tried signing Samba at 17 years old for 23m and board cancelled it as well.
~X!@O^Q!@NG~ 05-12-2002, 06:44:AM Man u are one unlucky chap..
I sign the both with ease but Samba I bought from Blackburn for just 1.5M so maybe 23M is a bit too high I guess
nvm i got Robben finally and he had 3 10 performances in a row.
Immediate impact really. Btw, what's the best posisition he should be playing at?
Ebonix 05-12-2002, 03:11:PM Robben should be AMC.
The board rejects it because they are very strict usually at a big club like Man Utd.
Most Chairmen at big name clubs are tight fisted, they see it as to big a risk at such a high level.
Would you let £23m go on a 19?
Anyway well done on getting around it!
Samba isn't worth that much, some AI clubs out price there players, i saw Elefthropolous at Villa and they were trying to sell him for £18m!!! he was worth 4.2!!

Thanks,... but oh my i've got a huge dilemna now...
i've got 3 AMCs to choose from:
Arjen Robben
Ronaldinho
Juan Roman Riquelme
How? :kader:
Ebonix 05-12-2002, 04:06:PM Well from what I've been told by many a people, Ronaldinho is the best out of those so don't sell him.
after that i would just rotate Riquelme and Robben - one game for Robben one game for Riwuelme and so forth.
Play two attacking mids and one attacker
hmm good idea.
But initially i bought Robben as cover for Giggsy on the left wing. But he doesn't seem comfortable in that position.
2 attacking midfielders..... wouldn't that be too dangerous?
Ebonix 05-12-2002, 04:28:PM No its a good attacking formation,
I managed to keep Leicester City floating around 6th in the EPL with 2 attackin mids, Its a good way of picking up lose balls on the edge of the area! Make sure you inform them to have long shots!
but Arjen's not that a good long range shooter.
It's a good attacking option yes, but defensively?
Ebonix 05-12-2002, 06:50:PM I thought he was good at long range shooting and what do you mean about defensivley?
Wstussyb 05-12-2002, 07:01:PM Play him as a AMC, he gets goal's, same as FL
play him ML-AML he gets more assits and a few goals
he plays a SC for the Holland team in my game, even through I play him as a ML
monkeyhappy 05-12-2002, 11:21:PM about how much money do you have to spend on Robben and how many assists does he get
Wstussyb 06-12-2002, 12:52:AM Think of it this way
he is 17 when the game starts
by the time he is 23 he is the captain of Holland team well into his 30's
I had him for 6 years once, he scored 30 goals in one season with 32 assits ( my strikers had more goals)
i got Robben at 18m at age of 19.
He produced 4 10/10 performances in a row, netting an average of 2 goals per game when he's in top form.
He got the player of month and young player of month in consecutive months.
Need i say more? :o

My stats for Robben's long shots is at 14 i think, not quite like Riquelme's 20 standards
Oh, with 2 AMCs and 1 SC, and that i'm playing wingers on both flanks, that leaves the central midfield empty.
Unless i play 3 defenders that is....
Ebonix 06-12-2002, 12:20:PM Try the formation i sent you, www2, then swap two attackers for two attacking midfielders.
This should cover you for defence.
If you rotated Robben and Riqueleme, you'd have a fantastic player for now and you'd be nurturing a young player for your future team
thanks but WWW2 formation doesn't seem to work very well in the English League. i'd prefer 4-4-2 with a DMC.
Anw, i've been playing Robben every match now and Ronaldinho has only been coming on as a sub.
Riquelme is out of favour at the moment and Inter's trying to buy him for 26m.
I guess Robben's impressive form makes it harder for me to drop him. Damn...
Ebonix 06-12-2002, 09:34:PM I know what you mean about people playing so well its hard for you to drop them, I've had that a few times, the will complain about something but I can't drop them its annoying.
I don't know why the www2 formation is working, I won the Champions League and the EPL a number of times with that formation, strange
Wstussyb 06-12-2002, 11:06:PM I use www2 for the first year, as that can work for any team and any system
by the 2nd year I have players to play my own tactics
Ebonix 07-12-2002, 12:14:AM I don't know i've only tried it that once with Leicester
It was a succesful game and i'm gonna try an do it again now.
I'll tell everyone how i'm gettin on

Compeltey off the subject, i have that all the time!! Its obviously a nice problem, but sometimes when a player has been drafted in to replace a regular, they will play 4 10's yet you still often go back to playing your usual player, its weird..... or is that just me..... my example would be at Valencia. Kaluzny was injured for about a month. I brought in the youngster Villareal, he played 4 9's assisting 3, yet i still went back to Kaluzny.... weird.....
TROD.
Wstussyb 07-12-2002, 12:59:AM I do the same
I like to play the regulars knowing that they will preform
some people I always make sure they play some games, even if they will be at another pos. just to make sure they are playing
True, but i play BIG players even if they're not playing well sometimes! lol, i think its more realistic! lol. Kily Gonzalez constantly played crap for me for 3 seasons until i finaly reluctnetly played Vicente. Kily is long gone........ over the water to England Actulally......
TROD.
Ebonix 07-12-2002, 01:21:AM I suppose i do that, when i get a good team i do have my favorites. so if someone gets injured they will have the injury period time out then striaight back into the firsts!
Wstussyb 07-12-2002, 01:23:AM I always sell kitty in the first year, he is annoying, same with santos(wants to be paid what he deserves!)
Vincente is great as AMC or SC, depends on where you use Aimar, and Crewe what a scorer!! use him as a lone stirker he leads the league in goals everytime for me
im MY view, Carew is really crap, his very boor Bravery and Balcne make him less impressive in the air. However, i have an open mind, how many has he scored in how many games??
TROD.
Wstussyb 07-12-2002, 01:41:AM I have in my leverkusen game, I bought him for 18.5 mil in the first season, 2 days before the transfer deadline in Jan, from then on he scored 38 in 34 games
I didnt play him all games as I played Olliver(sp) some so he would not get unhappy
Real madrid offered 65 mil(45 I think)
want a screen shot? I can email you it
nha its ok, i belive you!!! lol, hes just never played well for me. Anyway, Gomez, Konstantianou, Salva and Batistuta are doing fine! lol
TROD.
Wstussyb 07-12-2002, 01:55:AM so far Klose has been the best striker I ever use
or fernado morrienties
cavanagi is up there, but it takes time, when he is 27 he is the best in the game
Ive never heard of that last bloke.... But i know morientes is good, he always scores against me.
TROD.
Wstussyb 07-12-2002, 02:08:AM cavanaghi is from River Plate( there it is echoed him to be the new batigol)
excellent striker, not like saviloa who is more a foward then pure striker
he starts out at the age of 18, his stats are higher then most world class strikers are, by the time he is 27 with good training his stats are surprass Raul's
same with Maxi Lopez, depends on the game sometimes
I put a picture in screen show off of maxi stats when he was 19 they are simply awesome
YAY someone else calliing batistuta batigol!!!
I love that!
Thanks mate

I play him on the left flank and he works as well as if there are 2 Giggs in this world
Ebonix 09-12-2002, 03:28:PM I thought Robben plays crap on the left wing he better behind the front two

he might get more assists from cross's though cuz he pacey isnt he
i suppose he'd be good most places from things ive heard

On my game Robben sucks behind my lone striker..
Ok maybe not that sucky but he dun get the 10s that he gets as my left winger.....
Maybe due to differences in the loading of stats at work again....
But I think he is like the Giggs from Holland...
In his nation team he play as the left wing also....
