in your team, is the number 10 the best player (or used to be ) or one of the most important playmakers/goalscorers?

This is the case with most teams - Real Madrid have Figo who last year was the best, Arsenal have Bergkamp who used to be the best, Leeds have Kewell who is the best, Barca have Riquelme who is most talented, Inter have Morfeo who is another story and AC Milan have Rui Costa who is an important playmaker.

What u think?

Peter Nowak is our current Number 10. He used to be the best player on our team, but at his age, its hard for him to run like he used to.

Nowak was the best at 1860 in Munich. I used to watch his games all the time.;)

Man Utd: Ruud Van Nistelrooy....need I say more.

Before him it was Teddy Sheringham's.....well he did get the equaliser for us in that Euro Cup final

Before that it was worn by the 1 and only David Beckham.

The most unusual player that I have seen wearing the no.10 is Chievo's goalkeeper, Lupatelli.

Liverpool-Owen
West Ham-Di Canio
Juventus-Del Piero
Roma-Totti
Barcelona-Riquelme

Pele!!!!!

i think that the player with the most influence...such as playmaking as well as goal scoring wears the No. 10!... he is a midfielder as well as a forward... an attacking player!!! its just a piece of my mind... though i wear the No. 9... i can play the same role as the No. 10 but i dont have that much of a duty as my cuZz who wears the no. 10...he is more responsible in the midfield area and runs up n down the pitch creating offensive plays and controlling the players.

thank you

It was definitely David Beckham who was wearing it before Sheringham came to Old Trafford.

Sheringham came to MU after Eric Cantona left and so David Beckham took Cantona's no.7, cause Sheringham wanted the no.10.

Brian McClair usually wore the no.9 jersey when he was playing for MU but switched to no.13 after Andy Cole took the no.9.

Mark Hughes wore the number 10 shirt before Beckham, didn't he? Or was there anyone in between the two?

Speaking of number 10; I saw someone mentioned Pelé, but no-one has mentioned another obvious number 10: Diego Maradona!

Wow, I didn't think Peter Nowak was still this popular in Germany. When the new Chicago Fire kit comes out in January, you should get one with Nowak and #10 on the back. We are getting a new kit maker this season, Puma instead of Nike.

Deportivo La Coruna's #10 is FRAN. Spanish international normally a Left mid.

However IMO Depors #21 is more important. #21 is Juan Carlos VALERON.

Important Back, Important Mid, Important Striker

That is correct. Mark Hughes was a fantastic player who always gives 100%, if not more, in every game. He once played through several games with a fracture on his ankle. What a man!
