Paint is an extermly hard program to use, It takes a very long time to create anything of high quality. I like the stadium, are you gonna put a team name across the seats? lol
Still looks great, impressive work!

Paul
06-12-2002, 04:19:PM
seats are hard to make them look good.

with the original ... i just filled the crowd in with 4 shades of blue, white and a green.

this time its harder :o

and paint is easy to use for this stuff ... i love it :)

Paul

If you could we'd add it as a smilie at SG.tv

Only with ur permission, and if ur upto the challenge

it is highly underated for such a simple program :)

yeah, but how do you get the dimensions right and th skewing perfect??:hump:

Paul
10-12-2002, 04:05:PM
zooming in, and using the line tool.

2 pixels horizonal, 1 vertial for a straight line if that makes any sense.

sim city 2000 used it ...

shading is probably the most important however ;)

Using some of your advice, I came up with this.. Please dont laugh, Im a beginner... any ideas for improvement?
And you're 100% right about the shading... I had trouble getting the shadow for the garage looking normal (sorry im basing this slightly on your stadium to get the hang of it)

Sorry, filesize is too large - what do you save it as? I'll post it soon

haha thats about the worst advice given ever.
jpg's are fine and small, if done properly.

You cant do it with MS Paint but with decent Paint Programs, when saving as jpg, go to options in the save dialog box, and make compression minimum (max file size, min compression). The image will still be small file size, but great quality.

Gif is only 256 colours and is larger file size then jpg.

Bmp is perfect quality, but is HUGE file size.

Png is fine, BUT isnt supported as widely as jpg (although is starting to be now). Im not sure how many colours there are in png's pallete though.

Cheers

no,you just gave him the worst advice..
1st of all,jpg may seem like a nice format for pictures and the like..
but when you're making pixel art,you want pixel-perfect compression, you obviously cant get that with jpg, since no matter how much colors you're using,it will always creates new pixels around the objects and blurries everything, even if youre saving with photoshop and using the best quality settings..
unlike JPG... GiF has pixel-perfect compression and it doesnt create new pixels everywhere..unless you use more than 256 colors,in that case, the GIF format would try to make your picture look the best it can by using advanced dithering routhines that you can choose when youre saving in photshop..BUT..if youre doing pixel art,you will probably never use more than 256 colors..unless youre doing something insanely big..

thats what i have saved all my pics in, and the latest pic was only 10kb :)
