FIFA99 has great graphics, but extremely bad
game play comparing with either worldcup 98 and fifa 98.
Players runs like rabbits in FIFA99, too fast, too fast, and too fast. There is simply noway to pass the defender, the instant you face one, you get knocked down and the ball is lost. The only way to score is to pass 3 or 4 times within 2 seconds and hope there is no defenders in front of the last guy of yours who still has the ball. easy mode is too easy, professional mode is just designed for defenders to knock you down, dull. Needn't to say the world cup mode.
FIFA 98 has more teams than world cup 98 and when using the patch, the game play is so much better than FIFA 99. What a shame. EA sports.

Thank you for sharing this. Of course the game is only 11 months old, no wonder that I didnt find this out myself. I have played numerous games with FIFA 99 in world class mode and it is a much better game than the 98 versions, but maybe you will find that out in 2002?

At least the rosters in FIFA 99 aren't as screwed up as in FIFA 2000, and much better than FIFA 98 RTWC

but this stupid speed go down the whole game into crap. Please, do not tell me "try FIFA 2000" that will be too hard-heartednes.

i agree the others, f'2000 is just so stupidly fast its a joke beyond a joke. fifa 99, I used Chau Le's Fifa editor (isn't that an awesome ed?) and reduced everyones speed to about 10, and that slowed enough to look realistic enough...heheh I did cheat though and put my Arsenal teams speed back up to 16 (max value). But for some reason, Man U still kicked my ass. i'm telling you man, F'98 is nowhere near as good as f'99 and the same goes for f'2000. I've played f'99 thousands of times and the AI is uncanny at times, like it knows me very well now (yeah, i need a real life I know). I love it that Man U still is able to come back at the last 2 minutes and into xtra time to win against me. i hate Man U but that adds realism to the game for me. Barcelona...same result as well as Brazil and France. Fifa 99 rocks 4 me 4 eva.
