Well I suppose I'd better apologise for a lot of things here today! Why I haven't been on in ages, why the uploads have not worked, why the rosters are in a mess... Sorry guys I've let you down a bit lately haven't I? http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/frown.gif

OK, well, I haven't been on in a week and a bit because I've been polishing up the odd file, making FOUR different setup programs (thanks to Xavier for 2 of them, thanks to my crappy connection for the other 2), only one of which was used (too big to upload one big file with this modem so I had to use the one that is over 15 files which I don't think is a bad thing at all), and uploading (today I uploaded for the 8th time, if I didn't have the £10 a month deal for free Internet calls with FreeServe I would be bankrupt, no doubt).

Why have the first SEVEN uploads not worked? Well, first time it stopped at 80% and since the program I used was not registered, I couldn't resume (D'OHHH), second time it crashed at 80%, clicked resume in a different program and that must have been what made the install crash (as the people who downloaded it know, sorry guys), third time it quit at 80% and deleted it automatically (?), fourth time I ran out of space at the spare SG server (D'OHHH again), fifth time I uploaded the version with Xavier's faces to UKSN (and it went in in one go too!), sixth time I split it into tiny files and it just didn't work for Drinky, seventh time it just didn't work for Drinky again. The eigth time Drinky suggested putting the one big file into one big .ZIP, which didn't make any difference to the size, but in the words of Drinky, ".ZIPs are practically indestructible" - Well I knew one big file would be no good so I uploaded all the little files again, but .ZIP'd like Drinky said, and bingo, it worked - Well I'd like to lie and said I thought "woo-hoo!" but I actually thought "thank god, can I get some sleep now"...

Why are the rosters in a mess? Well as far as I can tell it's just on Drinky's PC - I told you all not to edit it though, it's perfect as it is http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif If ANY of you have any roster problems like Drinky, or if ANY of you have PotD and have no problems roster-wise, please reply whatever way, we want it to be perfect http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif At least by the 2000\2001 season update anyway http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif

Also, just leave any questions, comments, problems, whatever, after this message please http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif Thanks very much everyone, I hope it's as good as you hoped and I once again apologise VERY VERY much for those who downloaded the corrupt version - It was fine here, just my modem is bad - My excuse is Drinky should have tested it before giving out the URL http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif See you later!

After having played it, I have three questions and one comment.

1) How do you play the FA or Worthington Cup?

2) How do you play a season in the 1st Divison?

3) Where can I download Xavier the Moron's faces?

That being said....

THANK-YOU! THANK-YOU! THANK-YOU!

Its brilliant! St. James park is wonderful, the kits are brilliant, and the chants are realistic.

Brilliant job. Utterly brilliant!

Chris,
Overall, an excellent job, although I'm pretty sure Villa Park is off a little. The kits are a mixed bag - some are the best I've ever seen the others are just good, which beats the alternative. The chants are great and so are all the roster changes.
I think Drinky must have installed over a previous version -- I tried that and got mixed up rosters and kits.
The only downside: How come no in-game popups?
Nonetheless, excellent work.

Chris, I've played the patch and it is amazing. Somebody should really give you a PC related job...
BUT - when I installed the patch all the kits were buggered up. For example Shef Wed wore Man U home colors and Arsenal away (how ironic is that?). I changed them all to the right teams though. Also, I didn't notice much differances in the stadiums. Is that just me? Thanks - I love the chants by the way!

I haven't noticed any problems with POTD as of yet, but some could still pop up...

Excellent work on the patch! I encountered no technical problems so far. However, I did notice something wrong regarding the Champions League. Shouldn't it start in league format and then become a knockout tournament? Also, why is Man Utd missing in the tournament? They were defending champs.

Here's how to fix the rosters. Before (or after) installation, go to Customize and return the game to its defualts. All problems will disappear!

Return To Default ????

Doesn't that reset the rosters to the Original FIFA 2000 one ????

I may be wrong as I don't Have POTD Yet (downloading as I type) but That is what usualy happens !!!

Clicking on the reset button Mamoo resets all the .DB files and not the .DBI - You don't even need to do that if you follow the instructions at the beginning of the setup (tut tut Drinky!) and un-install FIFA 2000 and everything ENTIRELY, then re-install it (clicking custom install and selecting everything) and install PotD - TEoaE (no EA patch) straight after.

OK, OK, let's get all these replies done.

a_shearer - I am starting to get a little pissed off with people who don't read the readme file that is displayed practically as soon as the setup starts. YOU NEED TO TO PLAY THE GAME PROPERLY. Well I don't want you to have to strain yourself and go back and read it all just to find what you want to find out, so here is the excerpt to answer your first and second questions.

Well, if you want to play all the leagues and cups properly, here is my little guide to it. To be in a proper Premiership league, you can just click on tournaments - season and select your team in FIFA 2000 and bang, that's it (except you miss the Worthington Cup - if you want to run a season like that AND also have a Worthington Cup, see steps no.7-10 below)! But, if you want to be more than one team, you have to do the following...

To create an accurate Premiership season if you want to be more than one team (10 easy steps) :-

1) Click on tournaments - custom league, and select ALL the teams from the Premiership as computer players and the teams you want to be as human players.
2) Click on the forward arrow (bottom right of the screen), and then the back arrow. Then click save and save as Premier League (now skip to step 7 if you are Manchester United and want to miss the F.A. Cup as in real life).
3) Exit everything until you get back to the FIFA 2000 main menu screen, and then select tournaments - custom cup.
4) Call the cup The F.A. Cup and make sure that the competition type is knockout and NOT league\knockout, the amount of teams in are 32 and NOT 16, and the number of legs is one and NOT two.
5) Select all the teams you want to be in from the Premiership and Division One, there is no really accurate way to do it; Just select all the English teams you want to be in as CPU players and the teams you want to be as human players!
6) Click on the forward arrow (bottom right of the screen), and then the back arrow. Then click save and save as The F.A. Cup.
7) Exit everything until you get back to the FIFA 2000 main menu screen, and then select tournaments - custom cup.
8) Call the cup Worthington Cup and make sure that the competition type is knockout and NOT league\knockout, the amount of teams in are 32 and NOT 16, and the number of legs is two and NOT one.
9) Select all the teams you want to be in from the Premiership and Division One, there is no really accurate way to do it; Just select all the English teams you want to be in as CPU players and the teams you want to be as human players!
10) Click on the forward arrow (bottom right of the screen), and then the back arrow. Then click save and save as Worthington Cup.

There you go, all done! Now to play it properly, all you need to do is play 9 games in the league, and then play an F.A. Cup match and Worthington Cup match (remembering to save your changes after you've played the matches!!!), and just keep playing 9 league games and then an F.A. Cup game and Worthington Cup game (remembering to save your changes after you've played the matches!!!) until the league and cups are over. I know it's a long list of things to do and a pain in the **** but if you want to do it accurately with more than one Premiership team, that's the way to do it! To do an accurate Division One season, just do the same as what I've just said except that when you're setting up the league, make sure the amount of teams you select is 24 and select all the Division One teams.

As for question 3 a_shearer - If I were you I wouldn't bother. Xavier had the nerve to message me in ICQ this morning telling me that it was not his fault the patch was delayed more... Hohoho... By downloading them you would only be doing him a favour so I wouldn't. Thanks for your nice PotD comment BTW http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Since that ONE reply was SO big I'd better reply to the rest in my next reply. Coming right up...

Mediawhore - Thanks, I didn't do the stadia, blame Drinky for Villa Park being "off a little" http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/tongue.gif The kits I think are all the best on the 'net (with the exception of Everton home which was just impossible to fit all the details on the 128x128 image accurately), and put it like this - Yours is the first complaint I've had so far! Drinky did make an error (he didn't read the readme file shown at the beginning of the setup, I must stress how important that is! Also do NOT try to edit the rosters, YOU WILL HAVE PROBLEMS AND WE WILL NOT HELP, OK?), all you have to do is follow the instructions - Un-install FIFA 2000 (and even delete the folder), then install it again (clicking on the custom install option, and selecting everything to install) and THEN (no official EA patch either!) install PotD - TEoaE. As for the popups - We wanted it out NOW and the popups didn't seem too important. There will be SLIGHTLY updated popups in the 00\01 update, coming out before the new season starts in August. Thanks http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif

Schumacher - Thanks again, I could do with a job! If you want it to work properly do what I said above - Un-install FIFA 2000 (and even delete the folder), then install it again (clicking on the custom install option, and selecting everything to install) and THEN (no official EA patch either!) install PotD - TEoaE. That SHOULD work! If not, get back to me. I agree that Drinky's chants are great! Thanks!

Iceberg24k - Well in that case you must be the FIRST PERSON IN HISTORY to have followed ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS AND EVERYTHING without me having to tell you or anything. GOOD MAN!!!

anlashoknab5 - Erm, the Champions League should be fine, it is here and everywhere else! I hate to have had to say this 3 times so far but, un-install FIFA 2000 (and even delete the folder), then install it again (clicking on the custom install option, and selecting everything to install) and THEN (no official EA patch either!) install PotD - TEoaE. That SHOULD work! If not, get back to me. Thanks!

Drinky - That's only 'cause you didn't do this (oh god here we go again) - Un-install FIFA 2000 (and even delete the folder), then install it again (clicking on the custom install option, and selecting everything to install) and THEN (no official EA patch either!) install PotD - TEoaE.

Mamoo I have already replied to, 2 replies above this one. OK then, that should be it, thanks a lot, and until you find any more questions to ask, ENJOY PotD!!!

Here we go again...

Schumacher - I know, I know, only I wish I was joking... Good, hope it works!

Schumacher (again) - Great, everything works; As for the PotD popups, you must have selected everything bar one category when installing FIFA 2000 again. You can either uninstall FIFA 2000 and install again (as I've described fully a few replies above) or put up with it - If I were you I'd install again, but the popups aren't the new ones anyway; The ones coming soon in the 00\01 update will be much better... Thanks for your replies!

Iceberg24k - The big text message before installation (the one with the credits on the top) is the readme file. You followed the instructions eh? I can't believe it, finally somebody did! Well done...

LiverpoolFAN - I have made it so that if you even TOUCH the rosters they will go horribly horribly wrong (a-la Drinky ;p) - Just LEAVE THEM ALONE!!! They are fine and 100% accurate for the last day of the 2000\2001 season.

Thanks for all of your replies!

We can change the starting line-ups and strategy right???

Chris Davies (E.S.P. Man)
03-06-2000, 08:32:PM
Iceberg24k - As long as it's just the one or two teams the human player controls, you should be able to yeah. http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif If you alter the strategy etc. for every team the tmmng.db file will get full so like I say, just do it for the human controlled teams if you play with your mates, or just your team if you play on your own.

Chris - I did a full install of Fifa 2K, ticked every box and tripled checked it, but STILL I don't get the popups. I even installed the patch into a directory seperate from Fifa - and it didn't create any pop-up files! Could you or somebody please send them to me? It could be by ICQ at 70262781 or by email at schumey@btinternet.com. Thanks to anybody in advance!

Great Patch Chris and Drinky!

The whole thing is superb, only thing that I would say about it is the faces. They are a bit dodgy but seeing as you had stresses and problems with those, it can be expected. Not a moan though, because everything else is top class. http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Nice one guys, wish I knew how to do all that stuff myself, I'd love to create stuff for the game.

Excellent work Chris, the larger the patch, the more praise a person deserves for the comittment and hard work put into it. It's large patches like yours that set the standard for future patch makers. My compliments to you and Drinky.

Although our MLS league can not compare in glory to the English Premier League, I will try to make a run for your money in my MLS2000 North American Patch due out soon. http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif

It's patches like yours that motivate me to create something that will contend with the top patches in the world and hopefully give some credibility to our MLS http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif

Again, great work, and I look forward to any future work of yours.

P.S. I beleive Leeds United will come to the US and take on D.C. United during the summer, hmmm, interesting to see who come out on top? http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif

Chris,
An update on my first perspective on your kits. You can look at these two ways: which are the prettiest or which are the most realistic. There's at least one kit pack on Fifa Online's download site right now that has absolutely bar-none the best team sponsor logos out there - photorealistic in several cases.
But it's the little differences that count and that's why I'd have to say yours are better. For one thing, all your colours are bang on - I've seen prettier Liverpool and Leicester jersey logos, but always on a shade of teal or brilliant Ferrari red. Plus, several of the kits are, individually, the best out there. And the attention to detail on the badges is great. So good work.
Gameplay's good too, thanks to the roster updates. But I wonder why these games are always set to the Tele camera - it seems to me this game's way more fun played from the tower, where you can see the guys you're passing to and get a buildup going.

Great Patch Guys !!!!!!!

Some Of the stadia are a bit off of the real thing, Upton Park for a start but hey I can't be bothered to do it myself so who am I to complain when someone gives it a go and lets me have their files for free.

With the Sky Sports patch that's out now it looks as if u could actually be watching TV, and the players do what u want (sometimes) !!!!

Great work once again.

Oh one question, Are we ever going to see the faces u originally planned to release or is that as far as graphics go now ????????

Just try the POTD today and it looks great.
But I have just tried a few games only.
I noticed that English Second and Third
divisions are not in it. How come? Chris?
I thought you said they are included, even
the stadiums too. And you said can select
one of the two soccer balls. But where?
Please reply me. Anyway thanks for your great
patch. Now I can't make up my mind which to
play first. FIFA2000 or EURO2000.
