The stupidest show ever transmitted IMO is being shown on channel 4 in the UK on Tuesday night(December 17th).
The show is called Celebrity Wheelchair Challenge and the format is this.
3 UK celebrities go out in wheelchairs and put themselves in situations in public such as shopping or hailing a taxi etc. to see what reaction they get.
The celebrities are Comedian Sean Hughes and TV Presenters Tanya Streacker and Gaby Roslin. Miss Roslin is one of the best known faces on TV here and I am amazed that no-one recognises her. In the one preview clip I have seen Tanya Streaxker is trying to hail a taxi and the first three she tries to hail have their FOR HIRE lights on then turn them off immediately when they see the wheelchair.
My main gripe with this show is that surely it would have been better to get 3 genuine wheelchair users for this experiment since they will have been used to the situations and know how to deal with hostility. Or was it worth it getting celebs to do it to give them an insight into what its like to be disabled in public?
