View Full Version : HOW MANY BRAZILIAN FANS KNOW OF FUTEBOL DE SALAO MAYBE SOME EUROPE FANS SHOULD READ
Juninhio 27-12-1999, 06:50:AM I find it really really funny how just recently i've been hearing about Futebol De Salao. I mean is skill really that bad in Europe? Except for the Dutch and Ajax system the newest revolution in football for Europeans has been Futebol De Salao.
In case you are unfamiliar with this its a game played in brasil that teaches dribbling that the likes of Europeans have never seen or thought of. I ain't being a jerk! An English fella named Simon Clifford who is from Middlesb. met Juninhio when he arrived and the entire team was shocked at the things he was able to do with a ball.
Now Simon has gone to Brasil and is trying to implment schools in England to put them back on equal terms with South Americans.
It would be intresting if a south american pretended they wanted some European tactical systems and tried to learn about Cateccancio or the "Beautiful" long ball.
Simon Clifford has a book out that his is giving away to English School Boy prospects. Maybe some of you would wanna take a look at it
its called
Play the Brazilian Way - Secret Skills of the World's Greatest Footballers
Imagine a title like that from some European guy, well at least the nice guys honest.
Wilt the Stilt was the greatest dribbler ever.

aken99 27-12-1999, 04:55:PM There is a type of skill method in Europe called the Coerver method.
It was invented by some Dutch guy called Coerver. It is actually quite good. I have been to a few Coerver training camps and it really helps.
I don't know of any webpages on th enet about it but some Europeans out there should give it a try.
Cecco 27-12-1999, 05:43:PM Juninhio, I think it's about time you shut that big fat mouth of yours.
Juninhio 27-12-1999, 10:10:PM Stop it Cecco!! Your scaring me...ha.
Yeah im sorry about 82 as if. We cant win all the time. Ah well i still remember smiling as Baresi, Baggio and Massaro all missed.
Its cool how now that Ronaldo is injured Vieri has to take penalties and he has missed 2 out of 2 all ready this season.
Sure penalties don't take as much skill but at least Ronaldo doesnt screw them up like Baggio, Del Piero, Di Bagio, Vieri etc.
how does the most expensive player miss 2 out of 2???
PolishPower 28-12-1999, 04:36:AM Good point about the penalties there, Juninho, apparently not so easy to make them as some people make it seem...
Add Donadoni and Serena to that list, in 90...
Also wasn't Goycoechea simply brilliant?
Juninhio 28-12-1999, 07:05:AM Yeah he was unbelievable.
How bad are the Italians, when even an Argentinian GOALKEEPER can score - twice.
If only he could have stopped Brehme then Diego could have worked his magic once again in extra time.
Maybe the Italians should send some of their players to a Argentinain or Brasilian third division to learn how to take penalties from a keeper.
Edoardo 28-12-1999, 08:40:AM that's Saint Goyco...and lets not forget he wasnt even the starter he was the 3rd goalie and at that time Italia 90 he wasnt even playing for a club....
GOONERBHOY 29-12-1999, 12:28:AM Juhninhio,
I see you mock the long ball where in actual fact is is just as efective as dribbling past defenders if not more.
Italy82 29-12-1999, 12:32:AM First of all he did not have any penalty kicks this season ,whats funny ,he played i think 8 games and has already 6goals ,none of them where scored on penalty shot .This guy is the only player who can make Inter win the scudetto .But im more a Juve fan.
Juninhio 29-12-1999, 12:34:AM I DO NOT MOCK THE LONG BALL!!!!!
Some teams that use players like Beckham use it masterfully.
I'm just saying that School Boys in Europe are practicing the Futebol De Salao method now.
Soccer changes like everything else and this seems to be the way of the future.
You said you were British (Scottish) well im sure if you live in Britian you've heard of Micheal Owen's soccer skills special.
He is teaching this method. And he credits his pace and dribble to this method.
Juninhio 29-12-1999, 12:36:AM Yes he (Vieri) missed 2 penalties.
Perhaps you should check FORZAINTER.COM.
They have match summaries, but I saw the highlights myself.
I am an Inter fan so I know
Italy82 29-12-1999, 04:31:PM So what he missed ,like I said he scored 7goals in 8 or 9games.Dont tell me thats not good .I looked at forzainter.com he has 9 goals (Copa Italia goals included).Hes the leader of the team in the scoring department.
GOONERBHOY 30-12-1999, 06:49:AM No i don`t live there but i have heard of it.
Juninhio 30-12-1999, 06:51:AM Italy82 Vieri is a great goal scorer. Please dont put words in my mouth. I was excited from the day I heard him and Ronaldo would be playing together.
However, you make it seem like the goals Ronaldo score mean nothing. And believe me he scores many goals. 12 in 12 games last year and 36 the year before.
Sure some are from the penalty spot, but as Vieri and others found out its not as easy as it looks on tv.
Italy82 30-12-1999, 04:26:PM First all Ronaldo did not score 36 goals the other year ,cause Bierhoff won the scoring title with 24 (I think).
2)I guess Vieri and Ronaldo wont play together nomore. Why?Ronaldo is injured for a long time (I think for the whole season)and Vieri's contract is going to end at the end of the season .I heard that his next contract will make him the highest paid player in soccer .Inter could afford him ,but they would have to get rid of a few players.
Juninhio 30-12-1999, 07:16:PM Bierhoff won the league with 27 but Ronaldo had the most goals with Coppa Italia included 36.
Vieri said he will stay with Inter til 2005.
Italy82 31-12-1999, 12:04:AM I dont think so ,cause when they interviewed him in Rai ,he said he might be leaving to Bologna cause thats where is family lives.
