hey guys, i know i can count on u all, but i'm having a problem
I reinstalled Fifa and now it wont' start, it keeps crashing back to the desktop. i have a

Geforce4 ti 4200
128MB ram
1.2 ghz AMD Ahlon proc.
60.0 ultima DMA hd

all of a sudden fifa won't work, anyone have a solution? alll my other games such as madden and nhl work just fine. just fifa, thanks alot guys.

did u add on any patch to the game?

no sir. i uninstalled, then deleted the remaining files manually ( settings.db, saved) stuff like that. so i start the game and i receive this message as it crashes to desktop:

have you tried re-installing your display drivers? because that error message has something to do with your vid card/display properties. you didnt try to tweak your card either?

i had a problem like that too so i re-installed the game and the vid card drivers.

i see. ok ya,i did try to tweak my card with the Rivatuner utility, could that be the reason? i already reinstalled the driver, so what else can i do?btw thanks for helpin me so far, its highly appreciated.

ah i see. i also tweaked mine and fifa crashed so i had to re-install the game. man you dont need any tweaking for you got a great vid card (mine's gf2 mx400 :( )

just re-install it and it'll be aiight.

I think you have to get the best possible driver for your graphic card. I used 30.82 driver for my GeForce2 MX400 and its great.

AMD Athlon XP 1800
GeForce2 MX400
256RAM
40GB HDD

And I enjoyed the game...... you have the best graphic card at the moment. Don't tweak it.....

off topic but... your graphics card is overkill for your ram. get more ram. just a suggestion.

ahh i see. because i'm running on the Directx 9 and using the 41.09 drivers, i've heard they have caused problems when clashed, so i guess i will go back to the 30.82, i hope this solves my problems, i will tell you a minute. thx for all the help guys, you're all wonderful.

ahh, i did everything. I reinstalled about 10 times, reinstalled my Gf4, and went back to 30.82, still nothing, i think it is just the game. because all my other games work wonderfully, btw, HITMAN 2 is amazing!! butya, thats all i've been playing, but i'm itchin to play fifa, i played it the first day i got the gf4 and then the next day after reinstalling the game it doesn't work. so if any of you have any solutions please please help me, thanks.

The same problem just happened to me right now. I haven't done anything unusual and this sh*t isn't working anymore. I tried to re-install and everything but it's still crashing. Some one pelase help me. Aaahhh. :f***: :confused: :(

when you uninstalled the display drivers, did you delete the nvidia folder? because some files remain there though im not sure if it is in conflict. and also, use detonator destroyer to remove some other files (in the registry i think). i'm telling coz i had exactly the same prob as urs.

It just became to work fine again. I had to erase the Fifa folder that was in My Documents. :p :confused: :D ;)

well is it in windows mode? i get the same error if im in windows mode than the game doesnt start take it out of windowed mode if it is in windows mode.


BTW i have a crappy card where can i get this card tweaker you guys are talking about and will it help me see numbers and na,mes?

Worse comes to worse i'll go out and buy it again or try to trade in, i'mnot sure tho. because all my other games work wonderfully, absolutely gorgeous EYECANDY. SEPAKBOLA do you have windows XP or ME??Try doing a system restore to when you could play the game fine.I had WC2002 and i couldnt uninstall or play the game i didnt a SR and it worked fine.Sometimes what you add to the comp itself is what screws fifa up.

i tried system restore to christmas day and it said the restore point was unavailable or something like that, basically i cannot restore my comp to that point, so ya, i dunno waht to do anymore, i've just been playin Hitman 2 lately and Mdden 2003.

Well do a system restore to a date that is available preferably a date when you didnt have fifa 2003 yet this will make sure any remnants of fifa that could be causeing trouble arent there anymore.

okay man, i will try to do so, that was awhile ago tho,lol. but ya, i will try right after i reinstall one more damn time,haha. btw, thanks for helping me out man, its greatly appreciated

No problem SEP ive had run ins with a few bad games in my life;) and i know its sucks not to get what your expecting.I dont think reinstalling will work if youve already done it so many times.Also if doing SR to as far back as you can doesnt work you can try reformating your comp.If you have an HP its easy just put in the cds if you dont than youll have to talk to someone like Kader or Shinjii.

reinstallin right now...takin a while. iwill try SR later on, gotta save some of teh stuff i have now. such as programs i dl, will i lose this programs,btw? if use SR?

Yes you will lose anything you dled you had after the date of the system restore.Try sending documents to your email box by emailing them to yourself.

I keep watching your problem and I think (if I not mistaken) you can do it by just downloading RegCleaner freeware that you can download anywhere (by searching the web) and then removed all the registry for FIFA2003.

Maybe it works..... I have problem with my NBA Live 2003 for the past two days. I install for the first time and then I can play the game. But when I exit the game and tried to play it again, it shows blank at the desktop..... Any comment....

Windows 98 SE
256RAM
GeForce2 MX400 64MB
40GB HDD

Maybe its a problem with Windows 98??I cant see anything else wrong with your system.

thanks alot man, it doesn't work just yet i'm still reinstalling. but i used REg cleaner, and it found loads of entries of Fifa2003 and otehr games that i thought i had deleted, wow, thanks for telling me, if fifa doesn't work at least i wont have annoying popups of games i've arleady deleted. ok, i'll post again with results, hopefully i'll just show a new screenshot,lol, that means it works, if not, we'll see what i post...lol

Ya, but i had to reformat. No big deal, all my games look completely different after I reformatted, my cpu is running faster than ever, it feels brand new. i'm so happy now, i'd like to thank everyone single one of you guys!! You guys have been incredible, i owe you guys alot for just supporting me, thanks alot guys. i wanna go play now,lol, gotta install a new gameplay patch tho.

Good that your problem is solved but it could've been solved much easier, by DEINSTALLING DIRECT X 9. I have exactly the same videocard as you (GF 4 TI4200) and after installing Direct X 9 under XP all the numbers and names on the backs of the players were gone, I must admit that the graphics were better than before but No numbers&names so I deinstalled DX 9.
Anyone has the same problem after installing DX9?? Just curious :confused:

Hey silencer, i tried to deinstall direct x but nothign worked, my system had some serious problems. im' happy now tho, everything is running fine, and its faster than ever. oh btw, what are your display settings, i want to make the game look better. just curious, dont' worry i will do no tweaking of ne kind, i was just curious, here are my current settings.


Antialising: allow app.
Anistropic Filtering: 4x ( though it can go to 8x ,should i?)
Fast mipmap: Enabled.
Def. Color textures: 32bpp

Well Sepakbola my settings are the same as yours, 4x Anisotropic Filtering is more then enough! No need to go to 8x with our card because GF 4 don't need any more then 4x.

me and silencer have G4ti4200, so there are options enabled such as antialising and such.
if u have NVIDIA cards, u can dowload RIVATUNER at www.guru3d.com , that is an awesome site for tweaking and stuff. However, i'm never going there again because i dont wanna ruin my system again,lol, i'm fine the way it is.

I also have a geforce4 ti 4200. What setting should I change? fifa for me freezes, any ideas how to fix it?
I did change performace to Aggressive, Antialiasing to Quincunx antialiasing and Anistropic fildering to 4x. But what's it all mean.
I noticed that every menu looks like it has a lot of blur to it!

Well Ian, first of all why change the settings to 'agressive', absolutely not necessary for TI4200 cards, I have Quincunx and Anti-aliasing 4x as well. Quincunx is a special way of aliasing in games in order to make corners more round and smoother, only GeForce 3 and 4 do have this option.
I would recommend you to download the latest NVidia drivers on www.nvidia.com and install them.
At www.guru3d.com you can download a remove tool for all your former Nvidia driver to remove them all nice and clean. Do that before you install the latest drivers.
DirectX 9 is out on www.microsoft.com but if your PC runs on Windows XP then be carefull cause all my names&numbers on the backs of the players were gone in the game??!!
Direct X 8.1 is good enough.

i agree, those are good options. btw, i am not goin to install the latest drivers, because last time it really screwed up my system, my fps went lower than ever. i'm sticking with the 30.82s, ok, off to go play now,peace.
