My PC currently has a run of the mill graphics card, but the textures and motion are fine with me. I'm looking at buying one of the Voodoo3 graphics cards (they just reduced their prices) and would like to hear an opinion. Do I even need a new graphics card? Obviously my question relates to FIFA 99, but I'm sure will have parallels with FIFA2000.

Thanks for any advice.

Some of your system specs would be helpful. Mainly what is the make and speed of your processor? Also, can you post the specific make of your current graphics card?

Dirk,

Thanks for the interest. I have a 333MHz Celeron w/ 128MB of cache. I have a mid range ATI graphics card w/ about 4 MB of video RAM. From a hardware perspective the new 3d graphics cards clearly have a lot more power, but does it really help?

Hopefully you'll still see this. I hadn't checked the board in a while.

Well, FIFA99 isn't the most demanding of programs 3dwise, so I'd imagine 2K won't be either.

A voodoo 3 should be great for your system. It supports D3D and Glide and should eventually support OpenGL. The V3 will run other games good too.

I'm not sure if your ATI supports D3D or not. If it doesn't you will notice a big difference when you run FIFA using 3d acceleration, much prettier.

I use a voodoo3 and i have a 333 celeron. the performance is spectactular and so are the visuals at 1024x768 resolution. my friend has the game and a video card like yours and there's just no comparison. you'll be blown away.
