I have problems starting FIFA 2003 after I have installed my DVD-ROM Drive:
when I started FIFA 2003 using the normal autostart, nothing happened. When I started it with fifa2003.exe, the FIFA 2k3 logo appeared, but after that, sometimes nothing happened and sometimes I got the following error message in a bluescreen:

An exception 0E occured at 0028:C181EB14 in the VxD CDFS(03) + 00008604 this called from 0028:C1829C58 in the VxD voltrack(04) + 00000A18. It may be possible to continue normally.

When I ejected the cd, I sometimes got the following message in a bluescreen:

The file system or the volume had data that
needed to be flushed. Some data on the volume
was lost. Next time please check first to see
if volume can really be removed.

When I hit any key and afterwards ejected the cd, windows asked me if I really want to eject the active cd.

My System:
Win98 se
PIII 800 Mhz
256 MB pc-133 RAM
via p6bab-A+ Mainboard
NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 M64 (32MB AGP)
IDE Drives: 20GB Maxtor HDD (prim. master), 52x CD-ROM (prim. slave), lite on 16x/48x DVD-ROM (sec. master), acer 20x/10x/40x cd-burner (sec. slave)
soundcard: Soundblaster AWE 64 Gold (ISA)

I tried to replace the vxd files with the files on the win 98 cd, to reinstall the cd-rom drivers (I tried 4 different ones) and the cd burning software, to reinstall FIFA, to increase the minimal swapfile size to 300 MB.

After I increased the swapfile size I keep getting a different error message in a window when starting the game with the fifa2003.exe:

Error:Create Directory (C:\WINDOWS\TEMP)

Access denied

I decreased the min. size to 0 MB (like it was before) again, but I am still getting this message. I have no idea why I am getting it : my Swapfile is on drive D:, I have a little more than 200 MB free on C:, the TEMP folder is neighter write protected nor has it any other attributes (I checked it with the attrib command in command.com).
I also checked C: and D: (contains swapfile and FIFA) with scandisc in extended mode, tried set temp=c:\windows\temp and set temp=c:\temp in autoexec.bat.
I also scanned all files on all hard drive partitions with MC Afee Virus Scan and the worm cleaner from Moosoft. MC Afee found nothing, but Moosoft found a trojan called BDE in a folder with the same name in the c:\windows\system directory. I found out that the full name of the product was Brilliant Digital Entertainment. I also deleted all files which contained bde in the file name, which where in the system folder and showed "Brilliant Digital" as company name in the properties (all files where dlls so they showed the company name in the properties). I also deleted all files in the Temporary Internet and the Temp folder.

Some other weird things happened on my system: sometimes, the windows explorer restarts or has an abnormal program termination when I am deleting files in the Temporary Internet folder. One time, the autoexec.bat or the dosstart.bat opened in a window. dosstart.bat is a file which was created after I first had the problems.

It could be that you have a virus if your Temp files are missing hardware shoulddnt effect fifa just software.Check for a virus than reinstall fifa. The best thing to do however is to re format your comp this will erase any trace of fifa in the registry this way you can install it safely.

I found and erased a virus before I posted.

This is a quote from my original text.
