a few quick questions:

1)how can i change a team's captain?
2)how can i change a team's home ground for league mode (thinking specifically about Major League Soccer)
3)how can i change the match ball?

1/ and 2/ can only be made with access
3/ can be done with ball raptor - http://www.socceraccess.com/Download_Info/502.php

the team's captain is the player with the lowest ID in the team roster

the home stadium number can be changed at the table teams column x_stadiumtype

unfortunatelly not. MS Access is a commercial program and you have to buy it (it's a part of MS Office)

and editing in Access WILL not change the captains in your save file, I believe, because you will still lose your save games, am I right on this? Anyway, I think it will only change the captaincy in the .dbi files and not in the save game files. But I am not sure if the save game files will look at the .dbi files for the captaincy, but most probably not, since the data is already in the save game file.

If you change only 1 player with access, doesn't matter captaincy or not. just changing haircolour is enought to lose your savegame. The savegame relies completely on all information that is stored in the dbi files.

hmm
So in my season using Juventus, Del Piero is the captain. But he was injured and then Davids was made captain. When Del Piero returned, Davids was still captain. I can fix this using access or not? I dont want to lose the saved game, its not that big a deal :P

No, I believe that you cannot change that.

you cannnot do this without losing access to your previously saved games

the only way is to hex edit the save game file, but the exact details is still very unclear to me, although I have succeeded once.

Still need a lot of experimenting.

Hercules, did you try to hex-analyze the data\cmn\fe\*.trm files??? These files contain the league structure and the match calendar. Unfortunately there is no TRM for 16 teams in FIFA 2003, and I would like to make czech league (with full features - national cup, top teams in european cups, promotions, relegations,...). There are only 14 team TRMs and and 18 team TRMs :(

Well, it should be possible, I can change match dates and who play who, but there seems to be a problem with FIFA 2003 which references the .trm file to a league, so I don't think you can simply rename and it will work....I will have to look into that.

But currently I have two major projects, going on, with about 10 minor ones going on, and the trm project is already one of those minor ones.

It will have to wait. It's on a pretty low priority at the moment.

No rush, I just wanted to know if it's possible or not. I know that you cannot simply rename the TRM file, it contains teamIDs so if you rename e.g. korea.trm to germany.trm then the korean teams play in bundesliga :)

My idea was this: Belgian league has 18 teams, Czech league has 16 teams. I wanted to replace the belgian teams with czech teams and edit belgium.trm to use only 16 teams instead of 18 (with achieving the possibility to play european cups, national cup, promotions and relegations)

BTW it seems that Bolzer knows something about the TRM files structure: http://www.fifastadt.de/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5409

Lucas,
you said, the player with lowest ID is the captain. then how do i change the ID of a player? access won't let me change it.

This player with the lowest ID being captain is not working for me with juventus. del piero = 1075 but Davids (ID=5672) is made captain when install a new CC package. Previously Davids was made captain when Del Piero was injured in a season I was playing, so I think this setting is not being changed when I install new packages.
Does anyone know what files need to be modified or deleted to fix this?

I think what Lukas say only works with a new game.

With an existing game, the captaincy info is stored in the fifa2003 file, i.e. save game file.

I uninstalled the current package, renamed the fifa2003 folder from my documents, installed a package that should make Del Piero captain according to this idea of lowest player ID on the team, but Davids was still made captain. Del Piero is given a starters position.

Perhaps the exact value for player position used makes a difference? right striker, right foward, etc... they use different numbers in the access table, and this might have an effect? I'll try later im busy for the rest of today and tomorrow :p

If the captaincy is decided by the lowest ID number, since the newly created player will have the highest ID number, there is no way to make a newly created player to be the captain, right? If it is so, how can I change the ID of a player?
