well, this one is offtopic and free to be moved :p

anyway, does anyone of you like US underground hiphop?
if so, you got to check out the new Talib Kweli album called "Quality".
it's amazing production and lyrics.
Talib is one of the most talented lyricists i have ever listened to and i m collecting underground stuff for more than 5 years now...

it's easily the best indie album of '02 and it also features "Waitin' for the DJ" which is probably a better known song on this planet ;)

just wanted to make sure you dont sleep on this one :mrpimp:

yea, i got the train of thougth as well. instrumental version too which includes 14 instrumental tracks of the original album.
hey, there are many great underground rappers who make great music. i just dont like the commercial Ja Rule and murder inc. **** u know.
do you know rappers like Aesop Rock, J-Live, Cormega, The Grouch, Eligh or Mystik Journeymen?
these are real artists on the mics and production man. you gotta check out some of their work.
anyway, mainstream rappers like Nas are of course necessary for the whole rap game you know. he's my favorite mainstream emcee.
good to know there s someone who likes hiphop too as most of the football fans i know only listen to rock music and heavy metal and the likes...

Talib Kweli got the hottest lyrics...i saw his new video a while ago "Get by" its a hot song and also the song "The Proud" from his album "Quality" is great. What i also want to know is where hes from because Talib is a Muslim name and some of the guys he features in his songs also have names as such like Bilal.

Hehehe, I just bought the CD like three days ago. I've tracked him since his underground days, it's top stuff.

"The Proud" is in my sig as you can see. I didn't think he's Muslim or has a Muslim background as far as I know. I'll check it out though.

Train of Thougth was average, I heard it but I don't have the CD though. I have some mixtapes featuring J-Live and Cormeaga. I'm leaning away from mainstream right now, althoug Nas is still the king.

It's good to hear there are some people who have real knowledge of hip-hop.

lol, vagegast, Train of thought is my favourite rap album of all time. He's right up there with KRS and Mos Def :D
I also dig Bilal's voice ;) he's great on Guru's Jazzmatazz pt 2, streetsoul! Now THAT sh*t is Certified ;)

Vagegast
10-04-2003, 01:06:AM
Yeah, KRS has true talent. I don't mind seeing a collab, but don't know if that's ever gonna happen.

Guru's Jazzmatazz? Hmm...I'll check it out.

That's more of an at ease style. Guru collabs on the album with: Angie Stone, Donell Jones, Macy Gray, Bilal, Erykah badu, The Roots, Amel Larieux, Kelis, Craig David, Big Shug, Isaac Hayes, Les Nubians, Junior Reid, Prodigal Son, and Herbie Hancock. (pfft, good thing I have the album lying in front of me :p )
