Nimrod: Green Day Singer's DUI
Wed Jan 8, 1:45 PM ET
By Julie Keller
Billie Joe Armstrong sure stepped in the dookie this time.
The lead singer for punk-rock trio Green Day was arrested Sunday near Berkeley, California, on suspicion of drunken driving.
According to Berkeley police spokeswoman Mary Kusmiss, Armstrong, the voice behind multiplatinum albums Dookie and Nimrod, was pulled over in the wee hours of the morning for speeding in his black Beamer convertible. After he stopped the car, he was pegged for tipping back a few too many cocktails and proceeded to fail sobriety and Breathalyzer tests.
He was then jailed, booked for misdemeanor drunk driving and released for $1,200 bail. He'll be arraigned later this month.
Kusmiss said the 30-year-old rocker was decidedly unpresumptuous during the incident. He didn't inform the cops of his rock-star status and was apparently "very cooperative."

It's sad enought to be caught DUI, but wht really got me sad was the knowledge that Billie Joe abandoned the regular car he had used even when his band was riding the success wave, back in 95, for a "black Beamer convertible". The hell, he's even more punk than me...
