So, if Liverpool turns their season season around this weekend (beating Southampton), where do you think they'll finish in the league?

I think that if they get on (somehow) a streak of wins, they'll end up top 3, at least. I very highly doubt that they can win it all though, and it'll be Arsenal winning the trophy.

Also, feel free to say any other predictions you have on the league as a whole.

That is a big 'if' - I am terrified of Southampton, they are playing some really good football.

Hopefully Didi Hamann is back for Saturday, since Diao is suspended.

We just signed Rushie to the coaching staff - we should just give him a jersey and play him upfront with Owen. :)

sorry fellas, the men in red n white are gonna grind you into the ground. With beattie on fire, the 2nd best defence in the league and unbeaten at home your boys just don't cut it against our men.

I hope you can stand to watch the torture coz it's on tv too, so the whole nation'll see you die!

They drew with Aston Villa....

That is a big IF, but i'm sorry....i can't see Liverpool winning a cup spot.

CL: Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Newcastle United
UEFA Cup: Southampton (via League), Blackburn (via Cup)

1, 2 - Auto CL
3, 4 - Go to CL Qualifying
5 - UEFA cup
Cup Winners - UEFA Cup (?)

I'm not sure how the Intertoto cup works with england.

well in CM (great source for info) the top teams that missout on a cup spot apply for it and then the highest finishing club the applies gets the spot

theirs definately more than that though for uefa

think this year was
chelsea
leeds
and
ipswich and fulham through cups

Bobby

Ipswich didn't win a cup though and neither did Fulham...

Fulham went through Inter-Toto

Ipswich got Relegated!!!! - how in the HELL did they get into Europe?! - Yes, they did play!

League Cup winner was Blackburn
FA Cup winner was Arsenal (completely inconsequential as they won the league title!)

ouch ... don't want to hear about that anymore thanx very much. :p

Anyway, Liverpool just need one or two wins, and you'll see ... Owen will be scoring, Riise will be flying in the FK, Diouf might even make a run and not be offside (that might be pushing it a little)
The Reds are a team that work very much on current form. But when they're hot they can be on fire.
so beware
however I do think a top 3 finish is unlikely. Coz Arse, ManU and CHelsea are well up their, and aren't gonna be shrugged off IMO.

Well, if Liverpool continue their poor form plus Houllier becomes more and more stubborn with the fans, I have a very bad feeling they will struggle for relegation battle like Tottenham Hotspurs a couple of seasons ago. Hope Ian Rush arrival would help them . . .

well I really hope that SOTON get something from this season, coz they really deserve it.they're a team I've always liked, even though they've done Newcastle a lot of harm.
Gordon Strachan is a top geezer andsoare a lot of the saint's squad.

I can't see Liverpool winning the cup, They're down 2-1 to Blades, and Manchester United, or Blackburn Rovers await them if they make the final, it'll be a hard time for them.

Liverpool wouldn't relegate this season, I think because they're too close to the 40 point mark.

They, however, could miss out on Europe altogether. I don't think Houllier would want his side to play in the Intertoto and so a 6th place finish will not be good enough, except if one of the top clubs win the FA Cup or Man Utd win the Worthless Cup.

I think they'll finish just outside the top four and get the Uefa Cup, in fifth, or in sixth and get lucky when Man Utd/Arsenal/Chelsea win the FA Cup.

I stand extremely corrected. I don't know what happened but that wasn't the Southampton of recent times. Thank god for Antti Niemi. Well done to liverpool. Only downside of the loss is that Heskey scored.

I'm now going to hide away and cry...
