View Full Version : Egg on my face
antithesis 21-01-2003, 04:47:AM Just got some egg poured on my face by Neutral and it reminded me of the Classic Local commentaries on the BBC site.
Have any of you heard them. They are all pretty good.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/index.shtml
You need Real Player, but if you haven't had a listen, trust me on this, it's damned interesting.
I have my favourites but you lot have a listen and post whatever.
I like "Go on Jimmy" and , nevermind, I like the lot.
Just realised you need more instructions if you want to have a listen.
After clicking on the link, click on five live, then in that Window you'll see the heading classic commentaries.
Also for some of you who dont get the EPL games on televison as we do in the Caribbean, this is a good place to get live commentary and access to the infamous 606.
You guys can thank me later.
I am trying to make up for badmouthing you lot recently.
NOT!
Bobby 21-01-2003, 06:29:AM Sounds pretty good
BTW, how many games do you get a week down in the islands? We get atleast 2 every weekend here in the states, sometimes more.
antithesis 21-01-2003, 07:16:AM Two live games, plus European, FA Cup, and Worthington Cup games. We also get the division playoff games live.
Then the local stations broadcast another live game a week, and by the time the week is over we have probably seen about 6 Premiership games.
We get all these games because this country, small as it is , has a lot of EPL/Nationwide interest.
Yorke --- Blackburn
John ---- Birmingham
Rahim -- West Ham and now Northampton
Ince -- Crewe
Sam - Crewe
Zamora -- Brighton
The Aston Villa right back (can't remember his name)
Shaka ---- Portsmouth
Al of these players are Trinidad and Tobago internationals, except for Zamora and the Villa left back, who have Trinidad parents and are probably hoping to represent England.
And on top of all that Vieria has a Trinidadian girlfriend, and visits the country regularly.
In fact Dundee Utd is here at the moment getting their winter break training.
This country is small but football crazy. We even hosted the last U17 World Cup.
maddog1983 21-01-2003, 01:33:PM thats good coverage ! in Oz we get
1 live game on free to air tv
or 5 games a weekend on Pay tv :(
ShearerM4 21-01-2003, 02:21:PM brilliant link !!!
awesome
makes you love football even more  :rockman: :D
like an outgrowing radish
antithesis 21-01-2003, 03:18:PM Ha! Like an outgrowing radish.
He really groped in his brain for that one.
What about the Gazza commentary?
"He has behaved like an oink!"
My favourite is still "Go on Jimmy"
The commentators just built that up for you. You could sense the feeling of the keeper dunking it up then running forward for the corner, then the punch by the opposing keeper and finally JIMMY SCORES.
And the fans go mad!
Is there any sport on earth that beats football?

Shaka ---- Portsmouth
Shaka Hislop?
Man that guy is so hated by Mexicans, and rightfully so, he nearly took out our best player from ever playing soccer. And its cuz of him that he had to leave Spain and come back to the Mexican league, since Valladolid didnt want a player who was injured.
For the WC 2006 qualifying i estimate, if we play T & T, that Mexico will make at least six goals on them in Mexico.

I just wanted to correct you on this one. Ansil Elcock was the player who brutally tackled Blanco, not Shaka Hislop.
antithesis 22-01-2003, 02:29:AM Shocking that you guys even know that
Funny thing about that, the Mexican press called Trinidad radio and got his cell number, then spread it all over Mexico.
He was inundated with death threats.
It was so bad, that he called in the radio stations locally recounting how scared he was.
He was also the victim of a violent robbery so he was already paranoid
ManU2000 22-01-2003, 02:35:AM Yeah, I remember that Elcock didn't play against Mexico in WC Qualifying because he had received some many death threats from Mexicans.

Trinidad is not that bad (and Mexico is not that good).
T&T would be alright without the politics surrounding the NT.
antithesis 22-01-2003, 06:17:AM How the hell do you people know so much about Trinidad and Tobago football?
Lol.
That is spooky.
