Use 4-1-2-1-2, better known as 4-4-2 with diamond midfield, for great attacking. For heavy firepower use 4-3-3. I always use them in world Class with juventus, and have great fun. But then again, it's all up to you. I can only play with those formations and 4-4-2 because I've practised with them since I got the game, let me play with those and I'm unbeatable. Make me use other formations and I lose big times! I wouldn't ever play 3-5-2, as I get big defensive gaps, and since I already ain't too good defending the lead and practically never end a game without getting at least 1 goal, I spend my time in attack with those great formations.

I use 4-4-2, but if I am a goal or 2 down then I use 2-5-3, its great to use the wingers to cross the ball.

I play aggressively, usually 4-3-3. But against good teams in Pro or World Class, you really have to perfect the slide tackle to stay out of trouble with the thin midfield. I wish there was a 3-4-3...

I play as real madrid... and generally I find a 2-5-3 formation is very nice, primarily because if you have 2 midfielders that have a good tackle rating and you put them as Center Right and Center Left mid, they can fullfill the defensive role when they have to, and can pass it off to the wings easy, and ive had alot of "1-2" passes going on a back and forth on the wings.... you just need to get in a simple cross and well, theres your goal :P After i pull ahead by 2 or more then I usually pull back for a 4-5-1 formation

4-4-2 attacking, with a lot of quick midfield passes opening gaps.

I agree with you there, when I play 2-5-3 I always attack more than any other formation. Cause the 2-5-3 formation has alot of midfielders and thats where I stop them right at the midfield or help the attacking 3 forwards (mostly crossing), and if my midfield leaks than I sprint back with my midfielder(s) and also the tackling has to be almost perfect for this formation so you can tackle a player without commiting a foul. But I don't play this formation the whole game, its when I am loosing by 1 or 2....

i've converted to 4-5-1...owen lone striker, heskey left wing, dioufy right wing, with crosses and they score a lot by cutting in...

i hate playing teams with 5 across midfield...they block my spaces to release my wingmen...

Does anyone know an editor that can change the formations in the game, for example that can create a 3-4-3.....?
Just remember we had loads of options for formations in fifa99.
3-4-3 used to be my favourite......good old days...:)

I have been experimenting and so far I think 4-1-2-1-2 is the best. Defense is strong and I like putting Ballack behind the two strikers. Only problem now is that for some reason Germany dont have Kahn......why???? To make it worse Lehmann and Butt both are quite crappy in the game. Is there anyway to get Kahn on the team???

Maybe by using CC:rolleyes:
4-1-2-1-2 IS the best formation. It only lacks in winger use. I think they should be adjustable, so that you can choose whether you want them close to the middle, or spread on the wings... I can see Davids ideally in the left midfield position, but not Zambrotta on the right. He plays more on the wing itself.
