Wolverhampton Wanderers. Not a name to inspire fear into the opposing players.

Division 1 title chasers, the first thing management knew was that quality was needed...

Rather than spend, the youth team was the first place to look. Nial Lyttle and Michael Emanuel where two members automatically promoted. Lyttle was a full talent RM with a rating of 8.5, while Emanuel was a DM with a rating of 6. Ince wanted a new challenge so he was promptly sold. Offence was an area where I felt needed a boost. So Bobby Zamora was brought in for $4.1 million and Lee Hughes for $1.5 million. Rae, Collins, Ndah where but a few to leave, while almost the entire reserve team was given to lower leagues.

Players brought in where: GK: Niemi (for support) CD: Schneider, Coly, Wi Feng Midfield: Wise, Ricketts, McCann ST: Zuma

A light preseason saw good results, and plenty of confidence went into the season proper.

Victories over Ipswich, Millwall, Portsmouth and Leicester showed that this Wolves team had plenty of teeth. A very dissapointing showing against Gillingham caused a little dissention in the club, with players beginning to bicker with each other.

Both the Worthington and FA Cup where snubbed by the team, with a decision that seeking promotion was more important.

Now after 27 games, Wolves are 6 points in front of Ipswich at the head of the table and not looking to relinquish the lead.

Bobby Zamora is on line for the golden boot with 23 goals
Lee Hughes weighing in with 8 for the season so far

Now, I am shifting through the players whom haven't made an impact on the team and making some funding available for stadium improvements for the big league. Collins is the first to go for a fee of $3 million. Roussel is heading out for $1 million. Mark Kennedy is looking to also be on the chopping block...

Part 2

Two games to go til the end of the season, and the last 12 games have been little more than dissapointing.

It started with a Interview, where I stated that with 10pts between us and Ipswish the Championship was over. What it's like to be proven a liar.

In 12 games, we registered only 3 wins, 4 draws and 5 losses. The most insulting was having the double done over us by Gillingham. A 2-1 loss to Ipswich was the final straw, putting them ahead by 3 with 2 games left...

To add injury to these insults, the leagues top scorer Bobby Zamora was injured for 3 weeks and just returning, with the 2 games left to secure the golden boot from Ravanelli. Stephen Hughes is out for a further 10 weeks.

Mark Kennedy has been returned, playing in LM, while Sturridge has made a return in Zamora's absence. He has scored 4 goals, while Lee Hughes is suffering a form drought, being promptly replaced by Roussell.

Lyttle has now moved to a rating of 9.5 with all his experience, and 0.2 years away from going up by another 1.0. Michael Emanuel is set to go up to 10 in another week...

The task ahead is to pray that Ipswich stumbles in the final 2 games, and we, The Wolf Pack can turn the tide...

If not...only the man above knows where the inspiraton will come from next season...

Thanks....

Part 3

Final two games...2 wonderful victories...the slump was righted...unfortunately, Ipswich did not stumble...

Wolves had to be content with 2nd place.

Obviously the squad needed strengthening.

Christian Abbiati was brought in on a free transfer
Gary Naysmith also came in for free...
Delaney also was drafted, this time for a fee of $2.1m
Jermaine DeFoe was also brought in on a free

Scowcroft, Blake, Roussel, Coly (a shame cos' he played really well) and Pollet all where shifted out of the squad.

The majority of players where given one year contract with an option for the club...in the case that Wolves could not stay up.

The preseason led to good results, light run outs on the pitch for the new players to gather some teamwork and discover the tactics.

1st game
Wolves v Bolton

This was a good game to determine whether the new boys where better than last years batch...

Abbiati performed admirally well, the only negative showing that the Wolves defence wasn't as strong as it should be. Rickets put Bolton in front, and it was left to McCann to volley the ball home for a draw 1-1.

2nd game
Wolves v Manchester United

This was a test, and I mean a real test. United dominated the game, but Christian Abbiati took the challenge and only conceeded two goals. At the other end, there was little the Wolf Pack could do. Lyttle showed his mettle, and delivered the ball into the box, but the strikers couldn't put them away. 0-2

3rd game
Wolves v Fulham

Zamora (8.5) and Hughes (10) where given preference up front. It almost worked with Hughes intercepting a pass and nodding it on to Zamora....who just could not beat Van Der Sar. Sava put Fulham in the front not once but twice. Zamora scored after the break, and DeFoe replaced Hughes. The dying minutes had lots of action, and DeFoe equalised. 2-2

4th Game
Wolves v Middlesborough FC

Sitting third from the bottom was not looking good. McCann opened the scoring, and Zamora scored his second. Boksic gave Borough one back, but Hughes put the game beyond doubt. 3-1

Where now? Obviously defence and attack need strengthening, and there will be a slight formation change: going from 3-5-2 to 5-3-2
