what does for example 7/2 mean or 5/1

I'm not sure but imagine u bet 100$!!

If you bet and the odds are 5/1 (=5) it means that you'll win five times what u bet (*5)! that's 100$*5 = 500$!!!

If you bet and the odds are 7/2 (=3.5) it means that you'll win 3.5 times what u bet (*3.5)! that's 100$*3.5 = 350$!!!

On both, if u loose, u loose all the money you bet!

well those are the odds.
if your odds are 7 to 1 for exmaple... it meens you win seven times what you bet
if you bet 10 and win you get 70.

The more unlikely an event is the higher the odds are gonna be, thus making you wanna bet :p logical

opposite when an event is almosta dead certainty .... you can have odds like 5 to 1 on which meens that to win 1 pound you need to bet 5
if you bet 10 and win you get 2.
or else bookies don't even take the bet.
