Now I forgot what I wrote......... I watched that propaganda show, with the applause every 3 seconds. I remember last year's version of this address was the now notorious axis of evil, AKA, N. Korea, Iran and Iraq. The US followed up upon N. Korea and Iraq (This year's address being based upon the "elmination of Saddam". And please, seriously, those statements about tongue removal, rape etc. :kader:) but what about Iran? Didn't the script writers create a good enough show to attempt to justirfy a war? Is it too hard to swipe their oil? Today's address was a completely farical stunt with the greatest amount of war Rhetoric yet. I reckon Hitler's writers during his campaigns in the 30's to convine Germany he was the ideal leader could have been proud of today's little talk. (I was not claiming Bush's actions are near the scale of Hitler's). Gerrard 17 29-01-2003, 05:56:AM heres the transcript: http://www.cnsnews.com/ViewNation.asp?Page=%5CNation%5Carchive%5C200301%5 CNAT20030128f.html (someone dide a nice job on editing JTNY's post.... Joe? ) Run DMB 29-01-2003, 06:02:AM Did anyone see the Democrat's response? The guy pretty much agreed with Bush's plans about Irag, but he mentioned Osama Bin Laden first. Bush didn't mention Osama Bin Laden at all. Then the Democrat (don't remember his name  ) totally blasted Bush's domestic policy. I agree with him, Bush's economy plan is weak and won't help the economy get out of the slump it's in. :( :nape: (:/) JTNY 29-01-2003, 06:09:AM A lot of my anti-us stuff gets censored. Anyone remember the "US is GAY incident", which was altered. Now I actually add substance to my claims, and it get censored again, I'll wait and see how long this one takes.:p  Clock starts now....... Bobby 29-01-2003, 06:23:AM I saw it, i mean it's one thing to pick on Iraq....but Iran too! Just hope to all that is good and holy that he loses in 2004. This is coming from an American, BTW. sslazio121087 29-01-2003, 06:57:AM I thought that speech was crap and his domestic plan is horrible. It seems that he just forgot about internal affairs. God I miss Clinton. Bobby 29-01-2003, 07:03:AM Originally posted by sslazio121087 God I miss Clinton. We all miss Bill, we all miss him.:( juventusita 29-01-2003, 07:11:AM Originally posted by Ljungberg08 We all miss Bill, we all miss him.:( I really miss him being in the news not for doing anything worthwhile, but for lying and cheating. kwalker31 29-01-2003, 07:26:AM Sigh....a number of things bothered me about his speech, but all in all it was pretty much what I expected to hear. A few of the lowlights: --Iraq must be invaded, but N. Korea will be dealt with peacefully. Hmm....nuclear weapons, which we know Kim Jong-Il has, are more dangerous than the ones Saddam allegedly has.... In all of these efforts, however, America's purpose is more than to follow a process - it is to achieve a result: the end of terrible threats to the civilized world. --I guess we're the "civilized" world and our enemies are not.....I think he could have used a better word there.....he's trying to placate those people here who have a very narrow world view and think that we're the greatest place around.....I think this could be interpreted as offensive in a number of other ways..... --Okay I know Saddam's an a**hole, and the world would be a better place without him in it, but I think it's unfair to provide such graphic descriptions of his human rights violations when other atrocities are being committed all over the world, and we don't police those. --One last thing, this may be trivial, but our president says "nucular" instead of "nuclear" every time. It's not that hard a word to say..... I won't even get started on the economy, it was obvious that issue was taking a back seat, he rushed through that so he could spend half an hour attacking Saddam. I still hope for peace, we'll see what happens. FuriousGeorge 29-01-2003, 08:17:AM "Nucular" is the typical pronunciation in the south. It's called dialect. Don't bag on that. All in all the address was pretty HoHum... just what everyone expected. I am still waiting for the elusive "evidence" the "intelligence" folks are to produce. That should be a farce. Not really much to say here that hasn't already been said before. Nimreitz 29-01-2003, 08:25:AM The American system of medicine is a model of skill and innovation, with a pace of discovery that is adding good years to our lives. Yet for many people, medical care costs too much, and many have no coverage at all. These problems will not be solved with a nationalized health care system that dictates coverage and rations care. Instead, we must work toward a system in which all Americans have a good insurance policy; choose their own doctors; and seniors and low-income Americans receive the help they need. Instead of bureaucrats, and trial lawyers, and HMOs, we must put doctors, and nurses, and patients back in charge of American medicine. What ****ing bull****. Insurance costs MONEY!! HMOs are all that even many upper middle class households can afford. Our health care system isn't, and SHOULD NOT be a model for other nations like Mr. Bush says. And universal health care isn't the enemy. It's not some HORRIBLE disgusting communist idea that would lead to the overthrow of the nation, it will give health care to the poor who currently can't afford it. Bush wants the old and the rich to get medicine, you know what, the capable people should get health care too. Universal healthcare is not only fair, but it works, look at Canada. That's what we ****ing need, not some bull**** HMO run system of hospitals that serve only to milk the american people of their money. There's a reason the liberals didn't so much as clap for this quote, and hopefully the american people will see that it is because his quote was garbage, not because the Democrats are unagreeable little prats. They won't though; as much as I hate it, my people are a bunch of ignorant stupid people, and **** like this will always fly. I threw my pillow at the TV after Bush said this. **** YOU MR. BUSH! What he proposes is impossible, as long as insurance companies pay for people's healthcare, they will control the American healthcare system. HEALTHCARE FOR ALL CITIZENS!!!! Forget your $900 Trillion Star Wars bull****, and help my grandma with a terminal disease. sslazio121087 29-01-2003, 08:42:AM Originally posted by Nimreitz my people are a bunch of ignorant stupid people well if you live in Wisconsin what do you expect j/k but why do you say Americans are a bunch of ignorant stupid people, just Southerners. j/k rhizome17 29-01-2003, 02:51:PM I have only caught snippets, the stuff in relation to Iraq and the War on Terror. It disturbs me that he continues to perpetuate the lie that there are connections between Saddam and Al Queda. Obviously it gives him an excuse to link the two strategies together, but the problem is (for those who bother to open their eyes), there is no connection between them. A religious organisation versus a secular regime. :kader: Osama opposed the last gulf war, not because it was against Saddam, but because of US presence on holy land. If anyone believes that an invasion of Iraq will somehow diminish the threat of terrorism, think again. if anything, the presence of occupying US forces in the middle east is surely one of the most provocative things that could be done to increase the threat of Osama doing something. But what can be done if people believe Bush's lies. INFESTA 29-01-2003, 05:17:PM Damn, they just aired the part where he talked about Iraq. I was far more interested in the internal affairs (like the bit Nimreitz talked about), since we all knew there wasn't going to be anythnig new on the foreign issues speech... So they finally said they're going to show us the proofs... After all the hype, we're dying to see them. I'm not sure if they are going to show us all or just to some... Hopefully, they won't make a fool of themselves, like Blair did with his report on Iraq (was it on Iraq?) monkee 29-01-2003, 05:30:PM Originally posted by INFESTA Hopefully, they won't make a fool of themselves, like Blair did with his report on Iraq (was it on Iraq?) Yeah. 'This is what a missile looks like. How's that for proof. Not good enough, hmmm? This is an arial photo of a building. We think it's producing chemical weapons. That should be evidence enough, eh Prescott?' Haven't seen the State of the Union Address though, just read a basic overview. Nothing new on Iraq by the looks of things. I'm curious what this evidence is. It'd help the inspectors out instead of having them run around the country without any idea where to look. Nimreitz 29-01-2003, 08:09:PM Originally posted by sslazio121087 well if you live in Wisconsin what do you expect j/k but why do you say Americans are a bunch of ignorant stupid people, just Southerners. No, actually Minnesota and Wisconsin are always competing for the highest test scores of any state, and Midwesterners are generally more informed than the rest of the country. FuriousGeorge 29-01-2003, 10:32:PM Originally posted by sslazio121087 but why do you say Americans are a bunch of ignorant stupid people, just Southerners. That is simply ignorant. I can't wait until the idiots get weeded out, and the Business majors stop taking actual courses. Rob 30-01-2003, 07:37:AM The Amercian People Didn't Vote for Bush... Did They? What about Gore? Gore Would of Kicked Hes Ass That'd of been some funny ****, i'd pay for that pay-per-view. rhizome17 30-01-2003, 11:59:AM For those that are interested, there are a couple of good articles here, about the accusation made by Bush that there are links between Saddam and Al Qaida. http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,2763,885115,00.html http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,2763,885140,00.html The first one examines the evidence (or lack of) for such a link, and the second one deals more with the respective agendas of the 2 parties. Again, I think that Bush is on pretty shaky ground with this one, and is unnecessarily dressing the stuff up for his own agenda. In other words: lying. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Moreover, an al-Qaida-Saddam alliance defies common sense. Osama bin Laden is an Islamist zealot who despises secular fascists such as Saddam. I heard from Bin Laden himself that he is no fan of Saddam. When I met with the Saudi exile in Afghanistan five years ago he volunteered that he thought the Iraqi dictator was a "bad Muslim". For Bin Laden, that's as bad as it gets.
