Has anyone seen the movie by Alejandro Amenabar "Abre lo Ojos", that Vanilla Sky is a cover of ??
(don't read on if you haven't seen Vanilla Sky)
I'm asking this coz I'd really like to see it ... and I'm wondering how different to V Sky it really is (if different at all)
and does it have the same concept as LE in and Lucid Dream etc. in it ?

Yes, I've seen it, but I haven't seen "Vanilla Sky". Amenabar is a great director and the movie "Abre Los Ojos" is amazing. I don't know how the cover with Cruise can be any better than the original, especially bcs you get to see Penelope Cruz's tits on the Spanish version! :hump: :D
Well, the plot is great, and I think it's almost the same as VS, so this answers your question. GO SEE IT! It's probably a minor production, in terms of money involved, but you can't beat the way Amenabar directs a movie.
We have this cable channel, called 'Hollywood', and they've been showing Amenabar's flicks lately. I saw this one that I'm sure you'll all love it too, that dealt with Snuff movies. I'm not sure about its name, but I'm thinking it was precisely "Snuff". Also a bit low budget, sharing part of "Abre Los Ojos" cast, but masterly directed.
There's this particular scene, that calls up our primal fear of being in a strange place in the dark, and the way Amenabar shoots it, totally different from American movies, it really makes you feel that fear. I don't want to give it away so... just rent his movies. :)
Oh, and I got a great and weird story about 'Abre Los Ojos', that almost matches the freakyness of the film itself. I'm goint to tell it, because I even emailed a friend sharing these events, and he enjoyed listening to it, so hopefully I won't bore any of you to death.

Coincidences, fate, arrangement, purpose, karma...
It's funny that there are things too coincidental for us to think we aren't mere pawns in the chess of life (I took this line from Caras-
Lindas* last book).
You probably already know this, but they will show tonight on the telly the original version of the movie Vanilla
Sky, 'Abre Los Ojos'. I've been wanting to tell you about this, bcs I know you wanted to see this movie.
Yesterday, I saw live on Ribeira (in the 'Mercedes' bar) a concert of Mark Kozelek. Mark is the lead singer of the Red House Painters. He played 2 dozens of songs in a stripped and intimate environment.
One of them, don't know why, touched me more than the others. I remembered a line, "wrapped in white sheets like an angel from a bedtime story".
Today, I made a search and found out, based on that piece of poetry that got stuck to my memory, that the song in question is called "Have you forgotten", and belongs to a Red House record. I dld it from Kazaa. It came with the following title: "Vanilla Sky-Red House Painters-Have you forgotten". It's also a part of the movie's soundtrack. Of all the songs, of all the gigs, of all the movies, of all the days.
Cheers,
Hugo
*Caras-Lindas is a kitschy writer, whose last book was called "Silver Slippers"! :D
Can't stop the rush...

Saw him yesterday and asked him ... And he wasn't too sure if the Spanish film he saw back then was "Abre los Ojos" or another one called "El Arte de Morir"
anyone seen that one ?
anyway I'm gonna try and get my hands on those two ... since my Spanish isn't too bad :p
