I think the best clubs are the ones that win most cups and leagues. Right now, ManUnited is the one that has most of that, so right now, we can say it is the best club, untill some other proves to be better.
And I believe any club will play a competition if it can bring more good reputation, with money or not, and Man.United isn't an exception.

Just a question, where can I find a good clubs ranking in the internet?

The real good club ranking is published by the IFFSH(int. fed. football statisticians and historians). ESPN ranking is just one guys opinion, though I admit he is not bad.

Also are you suggesting if Man U wins they will turn down the 10 million dollars or whatever the first prize is, and donate it to the poor teams in the competition as a good-will gesture? Well I hope the do that, seeing how they are so rich and all...

Cantona, I'm not sure who said what bout man utd and going to brazil for the money, but the problem I have with man utd going to brazil is the slap in the face they gave english football. The FA cup is a glamorous event, and for man utd to pull out was an absolute disgrace. Man utd thought only about themselves, how winning the world club champs would glorify them even more. They haven't got the interest of football at heart, but merely that of promoting their business venture. And do not get me started on that whining ' oh but our fixture list is so congested ' crap. The claim that they did it to further Englands world cup bid is also laughable. And worse than that was that in the end the FA was willing to compromise by giving them a bye into one of the later rounds. The question here is would any other club have withdrawn from their domestic cup to go to brazil or would they have tried to make an arrangement or compromise ? In light of what they have done to the competition Man utd should be banned for next year's cup. Would I feel the same if it was my team that withdrew from the FA cup ? Yes, football clubs must remember that although they are big businesses now, they are still football clubs with the responsibility towards their respective associations.

Canoe must say I agree 100 percent with your opinion, though I blame both Man U and FA equally. I heard that FA could not give Man U a bye for that round because they couldn't figure out the mathematics on how to do it(I heard this from mouth of one of FA spokesman when he was on radio talkshow!). That is the stupidest excuse ever...
