Hey I'm new here and I ownESPN MLS Extra Time 2002 on XBOX. I know its made by Konami, and I wondered what Iteration of the WE/PES Engine is the MLS game based on.

I beleive it's based on WE4. Don't quote me on that though..

Some ppl said it's based on WE5 engine for ESPN MLS ExtraTime 2002 (GC & X-BOX). I don't know which one (WE4 or WE5 engine) for sure since the game has never been released for PS2.

I played the early version ESPN MLS ExtraTime (only available for PS2 & this game is not available for X-BOX & GC) & it's based on WE4 engine surely.

Thanx. But, when did the PS2 iteration come out. The XBOX MLS was released in 2002.

MLS Extratime 2002 never came out for the ps2. They canceled it.

Yes it is rare I agree. I think it only game out for x-box and gamecube and your right it does kick ass.

the reason why they cancelled is because WE6I is coming out on the PS2 only for now I guess. I have Xbox and PS2.... and was hoping to get WE6I for the Xbox actually.. but it's only releasing on the PS2. I gotta get it. I been waiting for years to play this soccer game. it better live up to the hype I been reading about the last couple of years. I did enjoy MLS Extreme and do play FIFA 2003 but I have WEI reserved.

I was also wondering what game engine MLS Extreme uses of the WE6 series if at all... I thought it probably used the ISS engine.. oh well. confused. lol

any ways.. hope the shooting is way better in WE6 than MLS Extreme.

Mls extratime for ps2 came out in 2001, mls extratime for xbox came out in 2002, they are the same engine and pretty much the same game, cause I had the one for ps2, and when the one for xbox came out I picked it up and within 1 day i was already winning again on the hardest level.

They are based on wE 4

Here's the part I'm not quite getting...

WE6 is somewhat Japan intensive, correct? Japanese clubs and such? And PE is European, with European clubs, etc... I could be wrong here, perhaps they've got the same rosters, same clubs I dunno...

Anyways, It's perfectly reasonable that an American release would center primarily on international play (considering the World Cup is about the only soccer event the US recognises as a whole, and even that not really until one of our women's players started stripping after we won it), but you'd think perhaps they'd AT LEAST get the MLS franchises in there.

I agree we6i is the greatest soccer game available right now. Would be nice if they had the leagues and stuff but the gameplay is so awesome. No other soccer game caompares.

mls extratime 2002 is based on WE5, WE4 is a psx game, they couldnt base an xbox/gc game on such an old engine :rolleyes: .. also, it has some features that were introduced in WE5/PES such as the match highlights after each half...
