View Full Version : Leverkusen-New Castle [R]
Hendrik 18-02-2003, 11:03:PM Wow, is anyone watching the game right now?
Newcastle leads 3-1 at halftime against Leverkusen's second team.
0-1/0-2 Ameobi
1-2 France
1-3 LuaLua
Hendrik 19-02-2003, 12:34:AM Okay, the final result is 1-3. Newcastle deserved the victory although Leverkusen played okay in the second half.
ah. dam, Bayer still poor. To sack Toppi wasnt the right decision, bayer players are so ****in lazy and still crying for ballack and zé days.
ryan_goal 19-02-2003, 03:01:AM Great win for Toons without their two aces!!!
where is ShearerM4 and Toon Army?:p
m3th0d 19-02-2003, 03:38:AM :( leverkusen aren't as dominant as they used to be.. but anyway newcastle deserved that win, they played hard. :p
hitek303 19-02-2003, 06:24:AM they should have put kaluzny for the whole 90 minutes, then they wouldn't score 3 goals on leverkusen
juventusita 19-02-2003, 06:39:AM Ameobi and LuaLua have been excellent in Europe.
Run DMB 19-02-2003, 07:13:AM I encourage football players on youth teams (especially defenders) to watch Bayer Leverkusen games and highlights from this season. A perfect example of how NOT to play defense. Really, I've learned a lot. ;) :(

didn't take a genius to figure that one out :)
Newcastle .... I predicted that we would play well after the long christmas break thingy ... if we win our next game (:o) then I think I'll be sorta right :o :mrpimp:
btw, if anyone would like to help me out with www.nufc-online.com ...
please email/pm me ...

aldostuta 19-02-2003, 11:36:AM Once again Leverkusen lost because of a personal error, to put it mildly. They just scored, and then Neuville decides to give away a goal. I feel sorry fot the coach.
Not to disrespect NUFC by the way, they are doing pretty well.
jbaseley 19-02-2003, 11:44:AM Leverkusen have played pretty bad pretty much all season except for a good patch or two, but that is just about it, for them I think this season is more about survival than doing well.
But they could redeem themselves if they can get into the next round of the CL although its very unlikly atm.
Newcastle by contast have performed very well after some poor performances early on in the season to get in the top 4 in England, I hope they do well in this competition and get to the next round.;)
windtalker9 19-02-2003, 11:59:AM Yeah, i agree that sacking Toppmoller wasn´t right decision, but Bayer has been poor almost all the season, so i don´t know what to do, but one thing is sure, Bayer won´t go to the quarters.
About Newcastle, yeah Lua Lua and Ameobi have good so far in the second phase, 3 goals for Ameobi now. :)
Now as Inter lost to Barca, anything can happen, maybe Newcastle can finish as second, behind Barcelona (i think they will win the group)
Silencer 19-02-2003, 12:03:PM Congrats to Newcastle and Sir Bobby!
Man what a match this was, three fantastic goals from the 'young ones' ;)
To win with 1-3 against Leverkusen in the Bayarena is a fantastic result and a big surprise, no one thougt they were up to it!
monkee 19-02-2003, 12:14:PM Great result for Newcastle. I think it's already be said but if anyone here plays defense then watch Leverkusen in this match for a great example of how not to do it. :D

aye, congrats to bobby aswell.:D
Newcastle have always been up for it this season, 1-1 Arsenal, 3-1 Bayer, great results. And a brilliant home record this season, Newcastle are very much in the tournament.:)
TOON ARMY 19-02-2003, 08:32:PM YES YES YES i can smell another CL revival!
I know Leverkusen have had a bad time this season but winning away was a great boost for the Toon Army. All throughout the season we have been loosing some of our crucial away games but not this time!
Ameobi and Lua Lua had a huge task to carry out and they came out with flying colours! The defence also played well.
Last night was a special night as you all know it was Sir Bobby's 70th. What a career he's had, undoubtedly one of the best managers the world has ever seen.
Well next Tuesday we play Lever at fortress St James' which if we win well who knows what surprises are in stall!
ShearerM4 21-02-2003, 11:37:AM Shearer and Bellamy might not get back in the team after Lua and Shola play like that.
I'm really glad that Lomano LuaLua got a game, coz he really deserves it. I didn't really like the way he got frozen out at the start of the season.
great win and away from home
surely we can beat them again at St James.
that all in white kit away from home must be lucky
