Have you ever watched a professional game in your life???
There are many occasions in a game where a player will use a quick header (even when he is by himself) to pass on the ball to a player in an open position. People who play soccer realise that the advantage of time and space can be lost quickly if you always take time to control the ball with your chest or thigh and bring the ball down to the ground before you do anything with it.
Look at the number of flick on headers in a real game or players trying to head quick through balls to other players or even, when in the penalty area, quick headers as an attempt to score a goal.
If you think players only use their heads when an opposition player is hand holding distance away then I'm afraid you need to go watch a few professional games to educate yourself.
A realistic game means that you at least have the option to do something even if it would not be a great tactic in the real game also. Imagine if the game only let you shoot from 30 yards out or closer because very few goals are socred outside of that distance in a real game! Does that mean FIFA 2004 should only let you shoot from positions that you have a very good chance of scoring from!
The whole point of a good soccer game is the freedom to do what you want not have it scripted for you. How can you represent yourself in gameplay in the game if the CPU controls the action for you. Automated clearances, non-headers, etc. are takign away the realism of soccer from the FIFA series.

If you play hockey the ball stays on the ground, whereas football is far more 3 dimensional and if the ball is in the air you should be able to do something with it. In hockey it would be a foul in football it might be a good crossfield pass with a flickon header etc. Heading is a major part of football and this game does not include it. Corners are a joke, the freekick model is better but it is strange how when you hit a decent freekick the keeper just stands and looks at it no matter how far out it is. I am quite sure that some of the talented people in the fifa community could do a lot more to make those corporate idiots at easports sit up and listen.
