View Full Version : WE6I Newbs - How's your Master League going?
jumbo 16-03-2003, 02:21:PM hahahhah sup,
yo, i started playin MS on EASY with AC Milan and won the first 3 games, so... i'm thinkin "too easy? gotta switch to NORMAL",
oh mu FOKING GOD!! => GAME FOKIN OVER, in 15 matches i scored only goal [!!!!!!!!!!] and had an average of 1 shot/game [!!!!!!!!!!]
wtf? i couldn't do shlt, smashed my pad into the fokin wall and started a new MS with Juve - well, it's going better, i gathered 10 pts in 6 games (yeeee ;)) - and think it's 'cause i bought myself a coupla new players.
3 first matches with them generic players i lost/drew and then i bought myself OLISADEBE (oh, the fastest guy in WE), Chivu (great & cheap def), Stelea (great & cheap goalie) & Juninho (great & cheap player) and finally started blowin some shlt outta my opponetns.
so fokers, what does your MS season look like?
SatanJones 16-03-2003, 07:22:PM I immediately jumped into Extreme Mode with Milan, bought a few guys, finished 0-5-9. So I said, OK maybe I am not THAT good.
So now I am doing HARD mode, and I am 2-1-1. Much better.
TristanAbbott7 16-03-2003, 08:21:PM I started off on 'Easy' as I'd played a few games on Normal and got my ass kicked. So far I'm doing pretty well: got promoted in my 1st season from div 3 and was runner up in the Tiny Cup. In div 2 so far I'm 2-1-0 so not too bad. I made the mistake of not reading the booklet so I didn't understand the negotiations/transfers thing so I've missed my signing window for this season. Hopefully at the end of my first div 2 season I'll have a good number of points to buy some decent players to mount a challenge on div 1.
fitba 16-03-2003, 09:35:PM keep it coming lads! I'll have my game by Tuesday, so it's good to hear how others are enjoying it. especially the Master League...I can't wait to give it a go. one quick question, are there a realistic amount of injuries and suspensions?
cheers
Decado 16-03-2003, 10:36:PM It's not. I'm just practicing in the exibition mode. Played my first 3 star match yesterday and won 1-0. Bit of luck: I scored on my first drive downfield then shut them out. :) 'O course, I used Manchester Utd vs. one of the weaker teems.
I simply can't get the Long Passes down pat. They're all over the place. Direction, length...all buggered :(
Internazionale 17-03-2003, 12:10:AM I played in 'Hard' mode. It's very challenging & difficult to score !! So far, I have played 2 games, a draw (0-0) against Aston Villa & a loss to Fiorentina (0-1). My ML club haven't scored in a single goal yet !!
Damn it, the ML is awesome !! :)
314frog 17-03-2003, 01:10:AM kool sheeyit.....
well i started on training first...actually i changed all the club names to their REAL names and changed the player names in the netherland and brazil national teams...... and now......
in ML...i started off with Man Utd... record 1-2-0... only one goal.... but game was over when i signd too many players... i had signed d'allessandro...roy keane... cavenaghi...and both nakata and duff was refused.....i was under $4,000...and game over...wat a pity... i could have started something...wth??...so...any suggestions?? tips on how to continue in ML????
iiite yall...peace...

jumbo 17-03-2003, 03:22:AM u guys suck!!!!!!!!!!!
i can't win shlt on NORMAL.. :(
rascricket 17-03-2003, 03:46:AM Sorry to say it cuz I think he's totally cool but....call a spade a spade...JUMBO'S GOTTA BE THE GREEEEEENEST PLAYER AROUND!!!!!!
greeeeeen.....Who'd of thought....I've gotta settle for players like Diouf (senegal) for my star center do I don't make it to easy!!Keep practicin'.....
ive started my ml season over a bit as i learn more and more on how to be succesful. Right now on hard mode, i am 1-2-3 with 5 pts.. 2 goals for, 6 against.
My possession is usually higher, and my chances are about even with a higher number of shots taken by me. i'm winning more headers and free balls, still need to work on my defense and long ball passing, but have down the Long Through ball.. which hopefully will spring Donovan forth.
I'm working on implementing strategy on the go, and using the offsides tactic a bit. I was so happy to win one game.
storrsblade 17-03-2003, 12:48:PM In my 9th season ive just won the league by 33 points terry henry scored 46 goals, highest score 8-1 v dortmund ronaldo scored 4 in 7 mins. only conceded 20 all season done the treble 3 seasons in a row in div 1.
ALL ON EXTREME PEICE OF PISS !!!
takes a long time to bui;d up a really decent squad!!!

Millerman 17-03-2003, 02:22:PM Just started my ML and am currently sitting in second position after 9 games in the first season. Mostly winning 1 nil and getting 0-0 draws. Use Huygens instead of Barato, Huygens has a goalscoring special ability - not great at dribbeling but if you can make the chance for him there's a good probability of him sticking it away!
Tip for folks who are struggeling: Do the umbro challenges first. If you can complete these you unlock some freelance players available for the ML, for instance I have 'Alex' as an attacking midfield player, he's pretty good and you can get him cheap!
Playing my game on hard level though, extreme is a complete ass-ache if you dive straight into it!
Well mine isn't going so well. I started on nomal with Roma and I am 0W 4D 6L and in last place and if I don't get points soon my season will be over :) I don't want to play on easy because I know it wil be too easy so I will stick to normal. I get game over I will start again on normal. But despite the fact that I can't win a game so far this game is awesome and keeps you coming back for more.
Ezio
jumbo 17-03-2003, 05:00:PM yo, i just started my second season with JUVE, still in D3 :P but i bought a couple of good players and actually won a game :)
(playin on NORMAL)
jmcclure3tx 17-03-2003, 05:36:PM I'm in my fourth season in Hard mode. Spent the first two seasons in the basement of Division 3. Third season, finished second in division three and got promoted thanks to a late goal from Thierry Henry in Game 2, and another late goal from Babangida in Game 3 of the playoff. Right now, I'm in 8th place after 9 games, got knocked out of the cup in the second round by Vasco de Gama. My preferred starting line up:
4-1-2-3 Formation
GK: Keller
CB: Campbell, Gamara
SB: Ashley Cole, Joseph Yobo (on loan)
CM: Tofting
OM: Miranda (original ML player), Bergkamp
CF: Henry (recovering from minor injury), Shevchenko, Babangida
Subs: Olisidebe (recovering from major injury), "Delcorso" (Ecuador), Simo (Cameroon), Song, Agathe (Celtic), Eddington, Matt, Iorga, Cellini, Burchet, Westerveld (Oranges 028 GK).
Just put in a bid for Juninho. Trying to get Belmadi from Languedoc and Javier Zanetti from Inter Milan, but keep getting rejected.
rascricket 18-03-2003, 01:35:AM YO....Picking Juventus or Manchester or Lazio to start your ML is pointless, correct? YOURE GIVEN A TEAM OF PLAYERS-----WHEN YOU CHOOSE A TEAM LIKE MANCHEST, PLAYERS LIKE BECKHAM GET POOLED, NO?........See, in ISSpe's ML, I would always play with MONOCO cuz they did'nt have alot of stars!!!!!!!! PICK A BAD TEAM YO, and ALTER IT!! DOESTN MEAN S**T IF YOU PLAY WITH MAN. or anyone---YOU"RE CANCELLING OUT ALOT OF GOOD PLAYERS TILL THEY GET PICKED UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!........duh
<ZION UNITED>
Xodust 18-03-2003, 02:18:AM Well, I do not have the game right now but my cousin has it and I played a whole day just ML. I started with an unknown team ( random i think ) and I had pretty decent score. I did not buy any players because I did not know how to ( WE6FE ) so I just played normal. If I remember correctly i got a 10-3-3. The three losses were my first matches, I did not know how to move....hehe. And the ties were not 0-0 but more. I remember I was playing a team and I got 3-0 in first quarter but in second I messed up and they scored 3. Wow WE is a blast.+
Auriaprottu 18-03-2003, 11:04:AM Just started out my ML on easy. I'm totally new to this game (never had ISS/PES), so easy's where I'll play my first complete ML. If I can win D1, then I'll move up to Normal. I edited Lazio into a custom team. So far I've played three matches in D3, beating Ajax 3-0, losing to Villa 3-2 and beating Marseille 4-1. Now it's time to buy some talent.
Since I didn't have any experience with the WE series before, I didn't know that you start out with garbage for players when I picked a team. Otherwise, I guess I would have picked a lesser known team. But I don't want Nazio in any game I own, so they were my first choice for editing.
rascricket 18-03-2003, 01:22:PM Yes, the players you start out with aren't too good...I kept Cellini...somethin' about him.....When you guys go to buy that talent, just a reminder, cheack their TEAMWORK rating.....Very crucial
FuriousGeorge 18-03-2003, 06:41:PM I started ML on Normal last night with Florentia Viola.
I played 3 games and went 1-1-1.
Then I got tired and turned off the PS2 with out saving D'oh!
I'll start over tonight.
shyne09 18-03-2003, 08:03:PM i thought it was almost impossible to get bergkamp, ronaldo. ect
when ur in div 3. am i misreading or does anyone have superstars on their div 3team?
monkee 18-03-2003, 08:15:PM Don't despair guys. I've had PES2 for 5 months now and only 3 weeks ago bumped it up to Extreme level after Hard level became a less challenging after I'd built a team of established players.
I finished 5th in ML div3 with Man Utd (I refuse to buy any Man Utd, until I've played at least 5 seasons) and managed to get runner-up in the cup the Tiny Cup (Amsterdam). Had I not had a good cup run I'd have been in trouble. Got Sheringham and Joel Reyes in my first season. Off-Season I got Quanquina from Columbia and Zamorano and managed to get into the playoffs (div3 winners) in the penultimate game of the season. Got runner-up in the Tiny Cup again, this time losing to La Plata who I'd beaten 4-0 twice in the season. ( :o )
Snook through to div2 in the playoffs with 2 draws and a win. Then went on a spending spree in the off-season to add some pace up-front (Mpenza) and get a decent midfielder (Doni) and another defender (Sesar (Parma)). Don't know how I'm going to fair in div2 yet though. It's really, really challenging on Extreme.
danger zone 18-03-2003, 08:40:PM Randomly chose Arsenal and in my first season finisihed dead last, winning one game, drawing four and losing eight. Hardly impressive, but normal mode is harder than I thought. I created myself with the highest attributes and bought myself in the off season. Now playing pre season friendlies and hopefully will enjoy a better season. Tempting to switch to easy, but I can't do it. Still I don't want to go under in points.

It's things like that, that keep the game fresh and exciting! I mean, yah, after the game you are like :f***: at the screen and at the game, BUT it happens in real life! I think that is so awesome though, best of luck with your Div. 2 though, I am in my third season right now with Man. U. as well, in Div. 3. Extreme. Just started Extreme like a week ago! (WE6FE)

 Don't do it ever. It seems as if you are able to atleast win a few games and tie a few. Unless you are getting outclassed every game, there really is no reason to go down a lower level. So just keep at it for now, if it gets TOO stressful, then reconsider.
Also, though going under points sucks, it's a learning experience.
kinghenry14 18-03-2003, 10:18:PM I started on Normal and went 0-4-2 in my first six matches, but then bought a couple players (Donovan and Armanio), attackers, and won out, winning the league. Then I lost to AV in the first round of the Tiny Cup. In the Promotion/Relegation Playoffs, I beat River Plate 4-0, then beat Boca 2-0, to clinch promotion, just for fun played as hard as I could against Olymp and beat them 3-0.
Just started my first season in Division II with a 2-1 win at Arsenal, 3-2 win vs Dinamo Kiev, and a 2-1 win at Bayern Munich in the Cup.
Can't believe how hard it is on just Normal, I bought a lot of players in the offseason, Ronaldinho, Cris, Edmilson, Jorge Costa, van der Vaart, Denilson, Beasley, Torricelli, Daoi, and Chivu. I have a class squad now, :)

how do u people buy ronaldinho and stuff... the most money ive ever had is 4500, and u people that keep saying ur losing a lot... how are u guys getting money if ur not winning? i think im missing something here
kinghenry14 18-03-2003, 10:39:PM You get a lot of money for winning promotion.
You can change the deal too, I got Ronaldinho for about half of the listed price, just offered a 3 year contract instead of 5, reduced the price to pay, reduced the amount the contract paid.
TristanAbbott7 18-03-2003, 11:27:PM Well, having been the only wuss who has started the Master League on 'Easy' level I'm doing pretty good so far. I've bought a team of stars and I've got promotion to the 1st division with 6 games left. I'm using the whole thing as a training opportunity before I start my Master League on 'Normal' level.
I managed to unlock the real team commentary names last night after winning the Konami Cup on 3 stars. It took me four attempts but I finally managed it. Talk about hard fought games, man!
This game rocks. I've been a virtual hermit since I've had it but even my wife thinks the game is way cool and she's really not into video games.

The Konami Cup...that isn't Master League, right?
About Master League...it doesn't matter what team you chose, right? You wind up with the same players. Are real players used in Master League (didn't recognize any of the players on my team)?
thanks

No, the ML is not the Konami Cup. Look in the cups selection and you will find it, you must win the konami cup with a CLUB team to unlock this option when editing the teams.
To be honost it does matter. Yes, you start off with the same default players, but lets say you play as Arsenal, you will have the whole Arsenal squad available for you to buy without having to pay a transfer fee. This is of course assuming you will do well enough to start buying players. Usually though, you start off buying players that will do just enough to make money, you may be stuck in D3 for a few season, but by the third season, if you have been makin' money, most of the star players that are available to buy will still be free and essentially you won't have to pay a transfer fee still! Hence, you will be able to play with the real Arsenal players.
rascricket 19-03-2003, 02:22:AM Thats' difficult for me....the whole time till you buy them they're like non-exsistent players....I know, personal pref.!
It's cool to see people have picked up similar players.......right now, ZION UNITED is just getting bumped to Div 2...My sqaud is
pretty fat..some of my guys are
Defense--Song--Nadal--Hendry
Mid--Guardiola--Ulises-Acuna-Capouche-
& Denilson
Attack--DIOUF--Sheringham--Magallennes(sp)
--Doni
Keepers-- Chalivert--Song'O--Ivanov
------ZION UNITED IS ROCK SOLID!!-----------
I highly reccomend Doni, Douif, Guardiola, DEnilson, and even Ulises---I only gave up like 8 goals, so the keepers are solid----Duoif and Doni are great finishers!!
What settings do you have to have in the Konami Cup to unlock the call names? I won the cup in 5 min games, against 2 other teams, and on 1 star just to unlock the call names, but it didn't seem to work.
Another question. Can you choose which uniforms the teans where in Master League? The computer keeps picking kits that are too similar, making it too hard to quickly differentiate the players (esp. on Wide or Normal Long camera angles). Any way to fix that?
Thanks
SatanJones 19-03-2003, 03:20:AM GKs: Keller, Hedman
Defenders: Onopko, Hendry, Valgao, Ferdinand, Alpay, Vorlander
Mids: KARPIN, Babangida, Rui Costa, Aimar, Nakata
Forwards: Asprilla, Pauleta, Shevchenko, Mpenza
Karpin is my rock in midfield, great player for absolutely everything. Try him out, his teamwork is good and he is very visible in every game.
rascricket 19-03-2003, 03:23:AM I really wish they put a cap on how many players you can get in a season...I end up pickin' guys that aren't TOO goo cuz its too EZ

You need to win the Konami Cup in the round robin setting on 3 stars or above to unlock the real commentary for club teams.
Auriaprottu 19-03-2003, 06:34:AM Okay...a few questions.
1. I'm in second place with four matches left. How many teams get promoted from D3?
2. I only won the Konami Cup on the easiest level, but I do occasionally hear my ML team's name called out when I play (like when I miss a shot). What more will I hear in the commentary if I go ahead and win it on 3-star level?
3. I'm on ML easy level, and it's not very difficult to win matches. I'm basically using it to get used to the controls and strategies. But when this first season is over, I'll have a good bit of money left, because I don't need to buy more players to win. Do I get to keep the money, or do I start again at 3000 points?
4. I unlocked the Euro Elite by winning the International Cup on 2-star. What does winning the America's Cup earn me? The European Cup?
Thanks in advance.
314frog 19-03-2003, 07:00:AM I just acquired reyna, donovan, and inamoto.... kool...but I lost this game 1-0 through a stupid penalty by a default player... sheeesh....this scenario made it seem like i was playing fifa....wth????......but im 500% satisfied with this damm game ...as of rite now im using the fifa disk as an ornament in my car...kool sheeeyit...i didnt know it would go so well with my hanging garfield!!!... very kool indeed....need to continue with WE.. check yall rite back

I've had plenty of those :f***: moments on Extreme difficulty. :)
I've played 7 league games in div2 now and 2 cup games. Started well, I won my first 2 league games (Eindhoven and Inter :o ) and knocked out Valencia in the cup (div1 leaders - giant killing or what :D ). Then my form slumped when I lost Mpenza to injury. Sheringham and Zamorano just don't have the pace to be dangerous enough in div2. They were fine in div3 but now... Doni's doing the buisness but I've had to change my formation slightly and have him as an OMF instead of a CMF, not that it matters.
Since Valencia I have lost 3 (including a 4-1 pasting in the cup at the hands of Dortmund when I had to play Daric instead of Sesar who was tired - a definate :f***: moment with me swearing at Daric telling him he's never going to play for my team again because he was found completely out of position and pace for all 4 of their goals - how stupid was that :crazyboy: I think I need to get out more.) and drawn 2.
My midfield is proving a problem as I expected because of the lack of talent. With Doni the only addition to that line it was always going to be a weak point, so I've now added Babangida now the transfer window has re-opened but am yet to play a game with him. Will have to play him on the left, Castello does a good job down the right whilst Ximenes just can't cut it in div2. But I've now got a bit of pace to use.
Millerman 19-03-2003, 06:04:PM Why dont you guys tried and buy Michael Tonge....he plays for Sheffield United, hes pretty good as a play maker but isnt that great on finishing!

mathewsss 19-03-2003, 06:34:PM To govo:
to prevent clashing of kits, in any Cup,Master League, go to the Options and turn the kits/uniforms option ON.
then you will have the choice of changing kits before every game.
FuriousGeorge 19-03-2003, 06:48:PM I restarted the ML on Normal with Florentia Viola.
I have bought:
Oscar Cordoba
Babangida
Maradona
Olisidbe
Song
I am currently in 6th place after going 2-2-5
I am not even dreaming of going up this year, but my strategy is really starting to take shape, and my squad is getting solid.
Opening up those classic teams really gives you some good free players :-) SO I think I am going to open a few more.
When I scored my 1st Goal after 4 games I jumped and yelled so loud my two cats freaked and went running all over the house.
Good Fun.
TristanAbbott7 19-03-2003, 07:27:PM Yeah, after walking the Master League on wuss (Easy) level I decided to restart on Normal level. Lost the first game and I'm not overly confident going into the rest of the season.
A question: if you continue to lose do you just run out of points and have to start again? In which case unless I improve a lot I'm gonna be living in div 3 for a long time, lol!
Oh well. Just about to go into my second game.
FuriousGeorge 19-03-2003, 08:47:PM I am not sure... I still have lots of points.
jumbo 19-03-2003, 09:50:PM thx for your feedback ppl, i love readin your stuff, keep it comin! ;)
i'm at the end of season 2 right now, it's almost over, i i'm 2nd postion and i qualified to play-offs (hope i can win this match 'cause i'm not gonna load the game if i loose :)). i've won the Tiny Cup too - tons of cash :)
My Team:

---J.Costa--------------------------Iuliano--- DEF
------Doni-------Juninho-----Zambrotta-- RW OMF LW
------Amoruso---------------Olisadebe---- LF RF
-------------------Del Piero-------------------- CF
can anyone tell me why Del Piero is so underrated?
kinghenry14 19-03-2003, 10:01:PM my team
kelsen
terry - chivu - edmilson - jorge costa
daoi
beasley - van der vaart - ronaldinho
donovan - armanio
jumbo 19-03-2003, 10:19:PM you play 4:1:3:2 ?
kinghenry14 19-03-2003, 10:27:PM ya works, great. ronaldinho and beasley attack up the wings, van der vart slides into the middle during attacks in the box for shots.
defense is solid, the daoi doesn't attack much, is more like a 5th defender, since the backs slide up behind beasley/ronaldinho...
lucasetor 19-03-2003, 10:36:PM Well, here goes:
I started master league on Normal yesterday night, using Boca Juniors and couldnt score a goal till my 4th game. Scorer:Castello. I think I had about 5 wins, 6 draws and the remaining, losses in my first season. I won the first game in the Tiny cup, but was beaten by Aston Villa in the next game. The first player I bought was Babangida. I use him in midfield cos he is so fast and I need him to build up some speed and run at defences, draw them apart so he can either cut through or dish off to my default master league strikers. It worked satisfactorily. In the offseason I discharged a couple of players and bought Leboeuf, just to have a pillar in defence. Next I got a goalkeeper (forgot his name, though) he was surely better than the one i had. I used the remainder of the offseason to play 4 friendlies. I won two, drew one and lost one. To my amazement when i had to start my first season game, almost all my players had blue arrows pointing diagonally down. So keep this in mind, playing preseason games tires out ur players and they cannot recuperate enough during the break. I guess it would have been better to play the games at the beginning of the preseason and rest them during the remainder of the period. Anyway, I drew, lost, lost, and won my first 4 games. I played some more games, and I am currently in fourth place.I just acquired Riquelme for a good price, but I am yet to play with him. I just realised that I had a player called Vorlander\Norlander who is an extremely good defender, but I hadnt been using him because his name never appeared when I select substitution choose a current player and hit right to go through the subs list. This was because you will need to scroll up and a couple of subs will be shown. Anyway, I am taking a break now to do some homework and Ill get back to the game soon. I really dont think Ill get to be in first position and get promoted this season, unless i get to beat most of the teams on top of me. The powerhouse is currently Bordeaux since they were relegated from the second division and they surely look like they are heading back there. They already beat me 3-0.
I am really surprised about how much buying a couple of u guys have been able to do, I mean where do u get all those points from. I guess starting on normal prevented me from really amassing those points.
PS: Anyone know of a really good left legged striker I can buy for a good price?
Anyways, adios..
shyne09 20-03-2003, 03:52:AM yeah... like maestro said.. where do u people get alll ur points!!!!!!
shyne09 20-03-2003, 03:57:AM i started with man u in master league on normal level... and now i no my mistake cause when im in div 1 ill just be able to get bekham and stuff and it will be too easy and unrealistic. but will these man u players just be sitting there?!?!?!?!? should i start all over again with a little team? im in my 5th season and have come a long way.
odnlinx 20-03-2003, 05:02:AM if you want to save points, instead of buying players just get players on loan. Its a good way of gettin quality players at a pretty good price. the only negative thing about havin a playa on loan is that, it only last for a season, or a few games depending at what time you ask for him. my suggestion would be to get a good few playas in the offseason so that you hav a solid attackin and defending force, and you can move up the rankins and a mass some points. hopefully if you do well you will hav enough points to buy some good playas. but the one thing you hav to remember about loan players is that you will not hav them for the cup competitions, you will need to buy a few players before the window closes. also has anyone figured out how to get a promising star cuz i hav yet to see one or figure out how to do that quite just yet.
jumbo 20-03-2003, 07:28:AM i got a lot of points for winning the TinyCup, i don't remember correctly but over 6000 for sure - you get tons of points for winnin matches in this tour + a nice bouns for winnin the cup itself :)
i've gathered over 10,000 points at the end of my second season ;) - nice bucks, helped my bulid up my team a bit :)

You may want to start over...You're one of the first people that I've seen say anything about this.....YES....pick a weaker team, or some team without alot of stars---THIS IS MUCH MORE REALISTIC---otherwise, it's like you said-they're just sittin' there....Unless your totally freaked about your fav. team like Juventus or Real Madrid and you want their uniforms-stadium and their vibe.....

TristanAbbott7 20-03-2003, 09:37:AM Well, I'm into my second season on 'Normal' level. I've actually managed to win two games so far this season and tied about 4. In the first season on normal level I lost 9 and tied 5! Great eh?
I'm getting there though as long as I don't go bankrupt with my points.
This game is way too cool.
lucasetor 20-03-2003, 10:03:AM Im going mad, SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT.
I cant believe this!!!!!!
Its my third season, ML, normal, 3rd division. Made really great signings during the offseason. Got Hwiat from Senegal ( a good left-footed striker), Agahowa from Nigeria, Nersa (Columbia, i think) in addition to Riquelme, Leboeuf and a few others. I play four friendlies during the offseason. I just realised u could play against DIvision 2 and 1 teams, so I schedule games with Manchester, Hamburg(D3 winners), AC Milan(D2) and Palmeiras(whipping boys of D3- just to put my guys in a cheerful mood before the season starts). I lose to Hamburg, draw with AC Milan and Manchester (I couldnt believe it either- I get the feeling that there is some handicap when u play D3 teams) and i beat Palmeiras 2-1 (had to comeback). I swear they make D3 teams hard.
I jump into the season and I win my first three games comfortably, but I have a problem with my goalkeeping staff. Helcorba ( a dude i bought for a good price) is tired, and my only other sub goalie, keler (a default player, dont know if i got the name right is also tired), so I just play Helcorba. I draw the game, and remain on top of the table. In order to never let the same situation occur, I decide to go for a real top goalie, so I begin to negotiate for Schmeichel. I put in the offer, enter the next game, and they announce that it is possible i may run out of points and the game will be over, but i have confidence in my boys, cos I am playing Marseille. God help me, they score in 10 minutes. I have to struggle so hard to get the draw, 1-1. I believe I am in the clear. Rain check, Im focked, the game declares that the negotiations for Schmeichel were successful, but as a result: game over. Can u believe I have -1 points left
-1, its insane. And u know what the worst thing is? I had the game on auto-save. I hit load and go to my ML slot on the memory card hit X and anxiously wait for it to load, it comes up:
GAME OVER
I am so fockin pissed man. I cant even see myself starting all over again, with those filthy default players, its a sickening thought.
Anyways, guys, I just thought I'd share this with u. So anyone thinking of being damn lazy and keeping the autosave option on, u better turn it off, or make sure u dive for your damn PS2 whenever u have the slightest inkling that u may remotely not survive after a game.
Peace out
Just finished my first season. Placed 6th. Came on strong in the final games, but drew my last 3 matches instead of winning which i had the opportunity to do.
Now i just beat Villa in the Quarters of the Tiny Cup and in the Semis now. Lots of cash to be won, and i definitely want as much as i can get to improve my squad for next seasons promotion run.
Decado 20-03-2003, 10:52:AM Wow. The Masters League is harsh! I drew my first game with Auston Villa 0-0 (though in reality I got my @ss kicked) and lost 300 odd points! Geez, if you lose that much for tying...what do you lose for losing?
monkee 20-03-2003, 02:38:PM Some great stories guys, keep 'em coming. It's always interesting to hear how my fellow PES/WE fans are getting along.
Anyway, I've played a fair few games in div2 ML on Extreme now. Just a quick note autosave is not an option on Extreme it is compulsory, ie. the game does not give you the option of turning it off. Not that that's important but it might save someone a bit of trouble trying to turn it off.
As I was saying, I'm in my 3rd season in total and my 1st season in div2. I can't quite remember my record but have just been completely torn apart by Barcelona 4-1, and it should have been more. I think I need to change my formation because my defense is starting to look as holey as swiss cheese, or maybe it's just because I've got a load of new players because my old one's weren't up to scratch hence they have a poor teamwork rating at the moment. This is an important attribute.
My record is something like 4-8-4 (or something near that). I'm not in the drop zone but I'm close. I started the league with 2 wins and a draw and was knocked out of the cup in the second round.
Coming off the back of my cup defeat I had a game against Madrid, which I managed to get a good equaliser in the final moments of the game. The I followed this up with a game against Milan which ended 2-2 after being 2 down. A 74th minute goal by Sesar (he is a good defender), which was a smashed low drive into the corner from outside the area, and a 87th minute diving header from Sheringham.
I've had some real :f***: moments. I was in a match against West Ham, leading 1-0 and looking for a 2nd in the 2nd half. Mpenza managed to get passed his marker and deliver a snap shot which came back off the post straight into the path of Zamorano. Surely 2-0. Nope, Zamorano, standing on the 6yrd line on the left side of the goal blasted the ball straight into the same post Mpenza had hit, and it bounced clear. Later on, in loss time, Tadilov is making his way towards my goal from the edge of the box, but Joel Reyes is goal side of him sherpherding him away from goal and on his weaker foot. No danger I'm thinking. Tadilov takes a shot to nothing in the last moment and my goalie (Ivanov) fumbles the ball into his own net at the near post.
Ivanov has done that too many times this season, costing us many a point in the process. So I decide he has to go. I buy the Columbian goalie who is solid but is still getting used to the team.
My team is now:
----------------------Oscal Corboda-----------------------
------------------Sesar-----------Joel Reyes--------------
---Valery------------------------------------Quanquina---
----------------------------------Cellini----------------------
-------------------Doni---------------------------------------
---Castello---------------------------------Babangida----
--------------------------------Mpenza----------------------
-----------------Zamorano----------------------------------
which is on the verge of becoming:
----------------------------OC--------------------------------
-----------------Sesar-------------J Reyes-----------------
---Valery-------------------------------------Quanquina---
---------------------------Cellini-----------------------------
-------Castello----------------------------Babangida-----
--------------------------Doni--------------------------------
------------------------------------Mpenza------------------
---------------Zamorano------------------------------------
Well I finished my first season on Normal with Roma at 0W 6D 8L. I bought Keller, Pelizzoli, Zago, Aldair, Tomassi, Donovan and Cassano so far. I lost in the first round of the tiny cup to Aston Villa 1-0. They scored in the 89th minute. I scheduled pre-season games against Ajax, Aston Villa, Newcastle and West Ham. I only have about 800 points or so. I need to win these pre-season games and get some good results or my season will be over and I will have to start again. I will let you know the 2nd season goes.

A question: if you continue to lose do you just run out of points and have to start again? In which case unless I improve a lot I'm gonna be living in div 3 for a long time, lol!
Oh well. Just about to go into my second game.
Yes if you continue to lose you will eventually run out of points depending on how much you are paying in salaries every game. Right now I have about 800 or so points so I need some wins or draws soon too.

danger zone 20-03-2003, 09:56:PM Things are looking up. Currently I am in my 2nd season in Div 3 with Arsenal. I created my self in the offseason with the highest attributes and I cost 800 points! I managed to acquire Kanoute, Parlour and Keown to strengthen the squad and here's what happened. Lost the first game 1-0 and drew 0-0 in the second. Before the 3rd game the computer warned if I lose this game my game is over. I took the risk and went for it. I found myself 2-0 down to 'Valdai' with 70 minutes gone, game over apparently. Then out of nowhere 'I' (my created player) lived up to his billing and banged home four goals in 15 minutes! A legendary performance! Since then I've gone on to win the next three, 4-2,1-0 and 4-1 with myself knocking home all of them. Amazing what one great player can do. Hopefully I don't get injured and I can get out of the lower rungs.
shyne09 20-03-2003, 10:02:PM hahah maestro... lol. that sucks
do buying goalies to replace ur default golie players actually help? if the other team has an open shot from 3 ft inside the pk box, will then new goalie actually be able to get a glove on it, or should i build up my field players than my goalie?

IMO yes buying golies helps. I bought Keller and Pelizolli for my ML team. I have always started with buying a keeper but that is just me.

Decado 21-03-2003, 05:24:AM This is brutal. If my general lack of still wasn't bad enough, my team is by FAR the worst in its division. How did those other teams get so stacked (OK, they're no like Div. 1 teams, but they have much better players than I do)?

That's becasue every other team except for yours starts off with their real squad whereas you always start off with a bunch of mickey mouse players and have to build your squad. Most of my players aren't good enough to tie the shoe laces of some of the players they're playing against which is why I'm constantly calling them names and selling them at every given opportunity!
Seriously though, when you get to build up a good squad you'll compete just fine.
Decado 21-03-2003, 05:56:AM Do you only get Points if you win games? 'Cause if that's the case...er...can you go bankrupt? :(
BTW, frustration aside, it is pretty funny to watch these players. I remember I made a nice long pass to a winger who had no-one within about 15-20 yards of him...it took him about 10 yards to get the ball under control (by which time the oposing player was able to strip the ball). He looked so funny running around, legs flailing, trying to trap the ball :D
juventusita 21-03-2003, 06:43:AM On my ML with Arsenal on normal level, I have been doing pretty well: First season finished second in Div. 3, lost in the finals of the Tiny Cup, and finished second in the promotion/relegation group (for those who haven't found out yet, the top two of Div. 3 and bottom two of Div. 2 are put into a group where you play each team once and the top two teams are promoted (or stay in) to Div. 2)
I've got about 8000 points right now in the second season. I'm currently in third place in Div. 2 after 6 games. Also, I have advanced to the quarterfinals of the Master Cup.
My squad (formation: 4-4-2 diamond)
GK - Van der Sar
DL - Sorin
DC - Campbell (outstanding defender and leads my team in scoring this season so far, believe it or not)
DC - Taribo West
DR - Lauren
DMC - Vieira
ML - Ljungberg
AMC - Deisler
MR - Pires
FC - Robbie Keane
FC - Henry
On the bench I have only two non-default players: Eto'o and Kanu.
I struggled miserably at the beginning of the first season with the default players and even about halfway through the year I was hovering in 5th or 6th. But, I went on a 6 or 7 game run and finished a point behind Ajax.
My best suggestion on how to transform your team into being able to compete much better in Div. 3 is that you need to buy several of your team's players back from free (if they don't come the first offer, offer the next week and usually they do), don't make any transfers for players not on free, and probably more important than anything is that you get a great striker. Once I got Henry, I was able to win games with a lot more ease.

Yep, you can go bankrupt and that's when it's Game Over.
You're right about it being funny watching your default players trying to control a bouncing ball as long as you can push aside the frustration. What really annoys you at the time though is when you are sprinting your player to reach the ball and with his first touch he miscontrols it by yards and it goes out of play. Funny though.
Question (I don't have the manual at hand):
Do you gain less points for wins at higher levels of difficulty?
Musa20 21-03-2003, 05:01:PM i j have one question >
When you buy new players and change the teams in ML, does it necessarily mess up the real squad in cup modes?

It doesn't mess with the real squad in cup modes. You're safe to pick whatever team you want.
FuriousGeorge 21-03-2003, 06:37:PM Florentia Viola is still struggling in division 3.
My Current 1st team Line-up is:
-------------------------
Oscar Cordoba
Popescu - Garama - Song
Cellini
Babangida - Maradona - Miranda - Denilson
Olisadabe - Baraja
-------------------------
We finished our 1st season in 4th place and have started our second season 2-1-1.
I am still having a lot of trouble scoring anything but Counter attacking runs from the midfield and the occasional lucky long ball.
Something like 99% of all my 'well thought out' build-ups end up in a blocked or missed shot.
I am down to about 2,000 points and starting to get nervous that our team is going to run out of funds in the next 2 seasons if we can't start getting some solid wins.
Fan Morale is getting low... It is one thing to see AC Fiorentina disbanded, but to have that followed by the quick demise of Florentia Viola could convince Florence that maybe it is time to focus on other international sports like Profesional Wrestling.
The fight continues....
connoll3 21-03-2003, 10:36:PM my team: Celtic, Division Three, second season. First season I finished last - won 2 games, tied 4, and lost the rest. This season I'm tying games like mad; just can't get that winning goal too often. I'm in 4th place, with about 4 games to go. Hopefully, I can push my way into the top two and have a chance for promotion.
Here's the lineup:
-------------------Keller----------------
Valery--Vorlander--Popescu---Lazaridis
------------------Cellini-------------------
Nurmela----------------------John O'Brien
-----------------Nakata-------------------
-----Larsson-------------Sand----------
Decado 21-03-2003, 10:47:PM How the HELL do you score with the crappy default teams? They can't handle the ball (or pass quickly), they're slow, their passes are always *slightly* off when they need to be precise...and THEY CAN'T SHOOT (on the rare occation they get the opportunity)! :f***:
I've played 3 games and haven't scored a goal. I've hit the "reset" button a lot more often than that (never scoring a goal). I try using strategy/tactics n' stuff, but it is awkward. Players don't seem to push upfield and the CPU always brings most of their players behind the ball (so I'm outnumbered 9 or 10 to 3 or 4).
FuriousGeorge 22-03-2003, 10:07:AM The default players SUCK. Buy new players.
I was getting Florentia into debt, but Finally I have begun to win a few games in a row and am back to ~3000 points.
I am currently in 2nd place after 8 matches!
The fans are coming back and Firenze is no longer considering a move to become a top flight Wrestling city :-)

Perth Glory 22-03-2003, 04:45:PM This thread is great reading,
Decado - In ML you start with an ugly team so you have to play ugly football.
I find its best to pack the defence and play the good old longball game. Baroja or Njord (spelling on both?) can play as target men with either/both Castello or/and Huygens playing off (one in front for nod downs and one behind for flick ons can work)
Not pretty at all but can be a good way to get some points early on.
danger zone 22-03-2003, 04:52:PM Baroja is a stiff man. I get him into prime goalscoring positions and that bum just fluffs 97 percent of them. I created myself with all 99's and I can score from nearly any angle. I won Div 3 last night and hopefully can make some money I lost on that loser Kanoute who almost cost me my game. Acheived promotion with only buying Arsenal castoffs Parlour and Keown.
jumbo 22-03-2003, 05:21:PM i'm playin with JUVE, here's the list of all the players i've bought so far:
Stelea - very good keeper
Buffon - great keeper
Iuliano - very good def
Chivu - good def
Tomassi - great def, aggressive
Thuram - very tough and aggressive
Guardiola - great overall, great skills
J. Costa - good def
Davids - awesome speed and tech
Juninho - my best buy so far
Doni - very good mid fielder
Zambrotta - turned out to be an average player but does his job
Amoruso - good foward
Olisadebe - great speed, great skills
Zalayeta - good foward
Trezequet - awesome foward! good speed, great header, nice tech
Salas - good foward, good speed
Del Piero - great striker, very good dribbling & tech, awesome free-kicker, kinda slow...
i still need one more good MidFielder, any suggestions?

Definitely, if the ball is at his feet just use him to hold it up and lay it off to someone else but he'll score a dozen headers a season with the right service.
And as has been stated before in this thread but cant be over stated TEAMWORK is vital(remember to use circle in subs menu to keep an eye on how player partnerships are developing), I'll take 2 blue arrow strikers with good teamwork over two loners with red arrows any day.

Depends what kind..
You can pick these guys up in the 3rd div and will still be good enough in the Prem div.
Camblo - Mexico
Can play CF or attacking mid, excellent teamwork and passing skills - will get alot of assists if used well
Lapacios - Peru
Good attacking mid with a decent shot
Walem - Belgium
Solid midfielder that can play the ball around as a CM or DM

Decado 23-03-2003, 03:31:AM I'm 8 or 9 games in (1st season) and have completed my little spending spree. Hopefully this will get me a few goals and a few wins in the last few matches (particularly the Cup).
I picked up:
Scholes
Butt
R. Keane
Blanc
and a striker in Solajker (or however you spell it...Man U player)
I've yet to play a game with this entire lineup assembled, but if you need to know why I did it now instead of the off-season try this: 2 goals in 8 games. Ouch. That said, I've only let in 2.
Now that I have a decent midfield with Butt/Scholes/Keane I've been controlling play more (5 man midfield) and hopefully with the addition of a striker (who can also pass) I'll be able to score. Blanc's a great pure defender and I like him on corner kicks.
FuriousGeorge 23-03-2003, 08:54:AM FLORENTIA VIOLA are going up to division 2.
the end of season 2 sees the team showered with confetti and kisses from all the fangirls. It is the 1st big step to bringing Florence back to top flight football.
Games 10-14 of the season went flawlessly. We picked up 3 points everywhere and seriously thrashed both Ajax and Palmieras (5 - 0 and 5 -1)
Tiny cup was a disaster. Lost 1st round.
Now I am getting nervous... Div 2 seems intimidating.
danger zone 23-03-2003, 09:04:AM Had an amzing end to my promotion from Div 3 today. I won the tiny cup, killing everyone. Then it was off to the playoffs with West Ham, Sao Paulo (?) and Ajax. Thrashed Ajax 4-0, a walkover. Then West Ham drew 2-2, a 71st minute equalizer keeping me in the competition. Then came the final tie against Sao Paulo. I went up 1-0 in a minute, cruising apparently. Then the buggers put two goals in before half time leaving me languishing. Then with 20 minutes to go (again) I equalised. Thinking I was home free (I only needed a draw) they scored again with 10 minutes left! Standing theer, swearing and screaming at my second rate team I made one last attack in the 89th minute. Thomas (myself) went on a forty yard run, Van Nistelroy style, had only the keeper to beat, shot and hit the post. The rebound fell to Oranges 103 who calmly put it away! A classic finale'. Final whistle and I scraped in. Now have 12000 points and am ready for Div 2 and some long awaited new players! This game kills me. Just too much......

In my first season in div 2 I went from flirting with relagation at the halfway point to a miraculous turn of form after getting some decent players, although their teamwork needs some work, it is vital. Babangida and Denilson made the wings dangerous and took the pressure off Doni to be the only creative player. Getting Frechaud at RB made the defense a lot more solid, along with Oscal Bocorda (Oscar Cordoba) in goal making miraculous saves.
Oddly enough it's only when I put the no-marks back in for tired first-teamers that I find too many mistakes being made. From players kicking the ball into the back of a team-mate when trying to clear the ball (opposing striker pounces and scores) to chances being wasted all over the place.
I still find it really challenging when I have all my first-teamers out but it doesn't become frustrating with mistakes being made left-right-and-center, but that's football for ya.
Anyway. Off-season, what a cock-up. I desparately want a solid DMF, and I'm trying for Oliseh. I've only got 4000pts to spend though so I couldn't afford to buy him from Dortmund who wanted closer to 5000 for him. So I sold Zamorano for 4100 to get some extra funds for the bid. Now I need a striker as well, but I can't get anyone. I'm hoping Oliseh decides to sign, but if he doesn't, seeing as I'm starting the friendlies now and time is running out for new signings I will have 1 shot at buying him, otherwise the money will have to go on a striker and at the moment that is either going to be Salas or M'Boma. I haven't bid for either yet though and I can't bid for them both and hope that just one signs because it'll bankrupt me, and there's no way I'm risking that after 3 seasons. But if no-one signs then I've made my team weaker and will still have Cellini as DMF, who, although he's probably the best of the inherited team is the weak-point of my team now.
To make matters worse, I also let Iorga go as his contract was up. I was thinking that I'd have a new DMF so I didn't want to give him a new contract and then discharge him or pay his wage, because I'm only gaining 150pts profit for every win. But if I don't get a DMF then Cellini is the only player that can play that position and if he suffers an injury or gets tired and the transfer window is closed...
First team at the moment:
GK: Cordoba
SB: Frechaud; Quanquina
CB: Sesar; Joel Reyes
SMF: Babangida; Denilson
CMF: Cellini; Doni
CF: E. Mpenza; Sheringham
With a bit of luck we'll swap Cellini for Oliseh and Sherinham for someone good. I don't think I can afford both Oliseh and one of the two earmarked strikers though. Need money.
Well I ended up with Game Over because I ran out of points. I started again on Normal with Roma and so far am 1W 3D 3L. I have bought Keller, West, Nakata (he is a great bargain, only 100 points), Totti, Toefting, Bagandia and Donovan. I have about 1200 points right now so I won't be buying anyone. I lost my last game 3-0 to Ajax. I gave up a PK early things went down hill from there.

I think the Comp. will offer for a player if ur team did well in the season.
lucasetor 26-03-2003, 11:16:PM Im in Division 1 after coming in first in Division 2. Looking to really beef up my squad for the challenges of Division 1. Anyway, i dont know if this is only me but I really want to go for the real quality players like the Henrys, Beckams etc. but I feel so attached to my current crop of players like Salas, Schelotto, Givrasse, mpenza, Vorlander, who got me through the annals of D3 to D1. I really dont want to betray their trust, u know that feeling. Its gonna be real hard discharging these guys who took me through by being hardworking, dogged, clutch etc. and simply trade them for the likes of Henry, Rivaldo who have no understanding of the journey just travelled. Anyway, it has to happen sometime soon, all I can say is kudos to my boys, but its a business and **** happens
jumbo 30-03-2003, 05:18:AM 3rd season finished in spot #8 in Division 1. Fok, not good but at least i collect some cash and bought: Totti & Overmars - golden fokin players!
in 4th Season - Totti and Overmars did great! Overmars is an awesome fast wing and Totti is the fokin best player in this foking game! i put him as midfielder behind my too attackers and he scored the most goals on my team!! this dude is unbelievable :)
Now, somewhere in the middle of 4th Season i bought Vieri - awesome striker! in just a couple of league games he score 6 goals - 1 hat trick! he he - he scored even more in tour. competitions.
He he, just finished Season 4 and won the Master's Cup competition & ML Championship Tournament. Fokin finished the season in 2nd so didn't win the championship this time :(
Well, i'm startin my 5th Season now - switchin to HARD of course and buyin some new players (got over 25 grand! :))
i'm a foking big fish now! my team is awesome! got a couple of star players already! he he
TristanAbbott7 30-03-2003, 09:32:AM Well after 5 seasons on normal level in div 3 I finally got promotion to div 2!!! I know Jumbo's gonna call me a useless fokker but I'm there at last. I won all three of the playoff games and got through cleanly. After 5 games in div 2 I've won 2, tied 2 and lost 1. I'm getting way better now, it took me a long time after a lifetime of FIFA to really get used to having total control over my players.
So, season 6 is under way.
rascricket 30-03-2003, 03:37:PM Wow!! 5 seasons in Div 3? On hard I'm season 3 Div 3 10-4-2 and just one the Masters Cup my first time in it.......So......BIG sigh......I've just started all over on EXTREME so when I win I'll feel more rewarded....The main reason I went to Extreme was cuz OF THE A.I....It does'nt seem like to me the computer has enough attacking skills on lower levels...They're just not technical enough for me and I wanted to see some BETTER attacking play...I want to see them attack better....Y'all might think I'm crazy but I want em settin up some shiz-nit...WHEN I PLAY BARCELONA or REAL MADRID, I wanna see some PRETTY football, know what I mean? I dont know, maybe on EXTREME I will, but I just haven't seen RIVALDO actually play like RIVALDO..Div 3 is silly hard however.....you know those other teams players dont match up statistically to the NEW players ya get, but still they play a HIGHLY skillfull game....Wolf, if you havent try a 4-3-3- A, I think---the one with 2 OMF's and 1 DMF--get good OMF's like Doni, Juninho, Zelivic (lefty!)....I score %75 of my goals just outside, at the top of the box...alot of them from OMF blasters...Headers from a cross are a little too uncommon I think....evn a few more errant balls would be nice, just as long as I get my head to it....Hope ya read all this...I usually dont go so long:crazyboy:

Of course i'm gonna be playin on HARD now.

TristanAbbott7 31-03-2003, 02:26:AM I may as well change my nickname from 'The Wolf' to 'Useless Fokker'!!!
I've managed to get two people to buy PS2's and buy WE6:I in the last couple of weeks. Well, once they played the game round mine they had to go buy it because they were blown away by it. I've educated a few other people who already have PS2's to get the game too.
If we keep spreading the word then EA Sports will be dead and buried with the FIFA series this time next year except for the people who just wanna edit all the time.
I could play WE6:I forever but can you imagine how sweet WE7 is gonna be?

Once again you read my thoughts on this series. I played PES and I was like :o :D, then when PES2 came out I was like :o :o :D! If Konami decided not to make a PES3, I'd be disappointed but there'll still be PES2.
Just finished season 4 on Extreme and managed to win the div2 championship. So now it's on to div1 and playing against the 'big boys'. As I said before, pre-season was a bit of a mess-up. I got rid of Zamorano and Iorga and couldn't get replacements. I went through the season trying to sign a good DMF (Oliseh or Almeyda were my players of choice) but no-one would sign. Sheringham picked up a red injury 3 games into the season so I played half the season with Mpenza and Castello/Huygens/Baroja up front. Chiesa, Asprilla, Klinsmann or Eusebio wouldn't sign for me, when I needed a striker, neither. (I wasn't going to get a retired player but I got peeved when Leverkusen signed Pele and that rule went out of the window, fair's fair)
Sheringham came back and struck up a good partnership with Mpenza but no sooner was he back than Denilson picked up a yellow injury. There was no-way I was going to play more than 1 or 2 games with Ximenes (too slow for div2) down the left. So another desperate bid for Chiesa where I offered him 400+ wages and 4000-5000pts to Firenze for him, but still no luck. I was forced to go for Duff, who I quite like but his attributes weren't great.
Duff was a touch of inspiration, he plays better than his stats (proof that stats aren't everything in this game) and has been a usefull player filling in for Denilson down the left or either of the two forwards when they are tired. In his first match he got sent off after 10mins, terrible start to his Man Utd career. He served his suspension and came back into the team, Denilson still injured, against Liverpool (I find it hard not to take the rivalry into the game so I desperately wanted to beat them), where he scored an the injury time winner in a 2-1 victory. His place in Man Utd history is now set.
Denilson comes back and 2 games later Duff is in for Mpenza. This is the game to win the championship. 10mins left in the match against Kiyv and a weakened team due to tiredness, 1-1. Babangida down the right sends in a long cross that finds Denilson inside the penalty area, near the by line. Denilson, seeing Duff closer to the goal, heads it towards him. From a seemingly impossible angle, with his back to goal, standing close to the corner of the 6yrd area, Duff, in one movement, spins and volleys the ball across the face of the goal and straight into the opposite top corner. It was an absolute beauty, and it looked so realistic. It ended 3-1.
First choice (sub/in order of preferance)
GK: Oscar Cordoba (Ivanov)
CB:Joel Reyes (Sesar/Vorlander/Stromer)
CB: Sesar (Vorlander/Stromer)
RB: Frechaut (Valery)
LB: Quanquina (Eddington)
LMF: Denilson (Duff/Castello/Ximenes/Espinas/Matt)
DMF: Cellini (Vorlander/Miranda)
OMF: Doni (Denilson/Duff/Miranda)
RMF: Babangida (Duff/Castello/Espinas/Matt/Ximenes)
CF: Mpenza (Duff/Castello/Huygens/Baroja)
CF: Sheringham (Duff/Huygens/Castello/Baroja)
A lot of the choice between the 'starter' players comes down to their form going into the game. Say Baroja has a red up-arrow and Huygens is on anything less, Sheringham and Duff are tired, Baroja gets the nod.
Doni has been star man. He had a relatively slow start, but he learned his role quite quickly. I have him in normal 4-4-2 mode but with an attacking attitude so he bursts into the box making a 3rd striker who sits just at the edge of the area making a nuisance of himself. There was a period of about 5 matches where he carried the team, just as the results were beginning to get difficult to come by, he started getting at least a goal and an assist a game, and the goals were stunning. He has around 11 goals and 10 assists.
TristanAbbott7 31-03-2003, 07:57:PM Strange, but Landon Donavan has been a great filler player for me as a striker when I get injuries or suspensions or as an attacking midfield players. He's great at running with the ball and fast enough to pick a route through the defensive midfield and can hit a few good shots when you need them to. A bit short to get on the end of a lot of headers though but he's cheap and a great back up player.
(Plus he's American so he's done his part on my team of multi-nationals!)
314frog 31-03-2003, 08:24:PM landon donovan has been great since joining my Man U team... ha a superb assist record.... works very well with diego forlan (my top scorer and definitely one of the best strikers in we6:i)... i usually put donovan up front with forlan..but if im short of midfielders thru injury n suspension...then i'll usually play him on the right/left wing or as an omf...he's really good....
Q: anyone here tried forlan yet?...give me ur impressions of the uruguayan striker

monkee 04-04-2003, 12:29:PM div1 extreme. When I went from div2 hard to div1 hard there was a jump in difficulty, but it's nothing compared to the div2-div1 jump on extreme. I've played 2 games in div1 on extreme now and somehow I've got a W1 D1 L0 record. I've only scored 1 goal though. The defense is a lot harder to get through and create a good scoring chance at this level.
I'd got to the level on div2 where I'd probably get 2-3 1v1s in a match. I think I've had 2 so far in 2 games in div1, and even then my player was under pressure from a defender which caused him to shoot too close to the keeper.
This is real football. ML Div1 Extreme, there is nothing like it in any football game including the lower levels of PES2 itself. :D

BamaToon 07-04-2003, 10:56:PM Just started an ML game this weekend (playing on normal level - yes, I'm a complete wuss.. well actually I'm just not that good at the game yet) as Aston Villa (I figured I'd pick the worst-rated team since I'm a bad player to begin with, just to make it more interesting). I finished dead last in my first season in Division 3. I only scored 4 goals in 14 games and allowed something like 23 (I scored the least and allowed the most. Yay me). I did have several 0-0 draws and got spanked a few times as well. Man, those default players are HORRIBLE. Many's the game I found myself cursing out load at the TV because of those guys. :f***:
The good news is that I made a run to the finals of the Tiny Cup before losing 2-1 to Ajax (I edited all the team names and players to the real ones). So I got a halfway decent amount of points to get some decent players (most notably some good forwards and defenders). Going into season two in Division 3, my team looks like this:
modified 4-4-2 diamond formation
GK - Chilavert/Schmeichel (sp?)
DF - Two default losers (doesn't matter which ones since they all suck) plus Marquez (Mexico) and Nadal (Spain).
MF - Babangida, Ginola (from original Aston Villa team), Carter (my created player with 99 speed, based on myself ;) ), and some random default loser guy. I modified the midfield and placed the two outside MF's (Babangida and Carter) closer to the sideline, acting as MF/WG's. Their sole task is to make runs down the sidelines and cross the ball into the center for the forwards and OMF (Ginola). The other MF is a defensive stopper (the random dude).
CF - Denilson and Edilson (both from Brazil).
I played a 4-5-1 through the first season, using Edilson as a lone striker. I signed Denilson in the offseason to give some more support to the attack, and also added Marquez and Nadal. Ginola, Babangida, Chilavert, and Carter were all signed during season one. So far I've played one preseason game and won 1-0 (against the newly-relegated Marseilles). So maybe I can be more competitive in season two...
An interesting side note: I use Chilavert to take some of my free kicks and he actually scored our first goal in Season One. Kind of odd looking through the goalscorers list and seeing his name up there as the only GK among CF's and MF's. :D
Musa20 08-04-2003, 07:11:AM Do you guys know how many seasons in division 1 ?
lucasetor 08-04-2003, 08:23:AM I played one season is D1 on normal and was first and won everything on offer, then I set it to hard and did the same although it was tougher and required me to do more training in between games. I realised that I always used to find my first game after playing for a long time difficult to win or draw. So I started having training sessions where I play against my subs and reserve guys 11 on 11. It really helps to be warmed up and ready when u play on hard or else u miss a lot of chances and make silly mistakes in defence. I am yet to play master league on extreme. I havent done so yet cos u cant change it to extreme using the team u have built so far, u need to start from scratch using punks like cecil and miranda. I feel so ****ing intimidated by that prospect. Anyways, I having been winning a majority of my games so far on extreme, I am playing the International league and after 23 games I am in first position. I won the Konami Umbro cup on extreme as well and it enabled me to use the correct name for teams in commentary.
well after numerous game over's my latest season actually had a surpurise. I had about 300 points left going into the tiny cup. I played Aston Villa first and beat them 2-1. I next played hamburg and managed to beat them 1-0 on a golden golden 7 minutes intot the first extra time. I played Ajax in the final and played one of my best games and beat them 2-0. I couldn't believe it. I won the tiny cup and now have over 4,000 points. I bought Deisler and a def. from Ecudaor I think in the off season. My buys so far are Rustu(Kepper), Lumassi, Def. from Ecuador froget his name, Stewart, Deisler, Bagandia and Olisedebe. I used a defensive 4-4-2 and will stick to that as it seems to work well for me. I am playing 4 friendlies and we'll see how season 2 goes but things are looking up.

:) :)
jmcclure3tx 10-04-2003, 08:08:PM I too survived many game overs on Extreme. It took me four seasons just to get out of D3. Then, we took off, winning D2 in season 5. About to finish my sixth season with Bordeaux. Just won Division 1 on the last day of the season. We had to travel to Lazio, who were in second place 1 point behind us. It did not start well -- Claudio Lopez scored on a volley in the 23rd minute. Thankfully, my MVP, Niall Quinn equalized just before the break. We held on for a 1-1 draw. About to started the ML Championships, and on to a summer of spending (I really want Vieria).
4-3-3
Stelea (ROM)
Joseph Yobo (Nigeria)
Leboeuf (FRA)
Rehmer (GER)
Marelos (MEX)
Cellini
Zidane (FRA)
Ortega (ARG)
Quinn (IRL)
Babangida (Nigeria)
McCarthy (RSA)
Subs: Rustu (TUR), Elliott (SCO), Van Meir (BEL), Donovan (USA), Lisztes (Hungary), Miranda, Iorga, Agahowa (Nigeria), Bayoko (Ivory Coast), Dario Silva (Uruguay)
BamaToon 10-04-2003, 10:18:PM After season 2, I upgraded the lineup and bought some additional players for depth and also to replace some starters that I traded away for more points. I got good offers from the CPU for Ginola and Edilson, and traded them both for about 5000 transfer points each. :rockman: I then used those points to pick up some players from other teams and also from the international teams. I now have some depth as well as decent starters and it seems to be working out, as the info in my sig will tell you. I'm still using the same modified 4-4-2 diamond formation and here is the starting lineup for season 3:
GK- Chilavert (Paraguay)
RB- Bermudez (Colombia)
CB- Nadal (Spain)
CB- Sanchez (Mexico)
LB- Ayala (Argentina)
DMF - Helguera? (Spain) (I can never remember this guy's name, hence the "?")
LMF - Babangida (Nigeria)
RMF - Carter (created player)
OMF - Hadji (Morocco)
CF - Djiouf (Senegal)
CF - Denilson (Brazil)
Notable bench players:
GK - Schmeichel (Denmark)
DF - Vorlander (one of the few original players still remaining. With a defense rating in the 80's, he's just too good to get rid of right now)
MF - Palicio (Peru)
MF - Zahovic (Slovenia)
CF - Merson (I have no idea where this guy came from but I saw him on the free players list and he's pretty good so I signed him)
CF - Castello (Another default player. His ratings are not that good but he does well when he plays. Sometimes he starts when Djiouf or Denilson are not in top form, and has scored a few needed goals. So for now, he stays)
Overall team budget is about 405 points a game. Not sure yet whether that's good or bad, but I have enough points in reserve right now to finish the season without any problems even if we lose the rest of our games.

danger zone 11-04-2003, 10:33:PM The best buys are the classic players on the all time national teams. Socrates has been my best midfileder in a rapidly deteriorating season for me.
fbxraki 12-04-2003, 12:36:AM After playing the ML at the normal level for one season I got promoted to D2 and won the Tiny cup. I have to admit that I quit the game and re-loaded many times, otherwise I would not be able to accomplish these in just one season. I am playing with "Marmara" which I renamed as my favourite team "Fenerbahce" and use the 5-3-2 attacking formation. This is the only way I can contain the CPU to some degree and launch either counter-attacks or keep the ball in my posession. During the first season I only bought Beschastnykh who proved to be a fast forward with some air supremacy. He was the top scorer in D3 with 13 goals. The starting 11 was like this:
Ivanov (GK)
Valery (CB)
Daric (CB)
Number2(CB) -- Forgot his name
Eddington (LB) -- One of the better players
Cellini (RB)
Espinas (DMF)
Matt (OMF) -- Decent Freekick taker
Ximenes (OMF)
Castello (CF)
Bestchastnykh (CF)
At half time I would sub Castello with Bruchet (Fast forward) and Daric (Gets tired vey quicky) with Vorlander. Depending on the match I would also bring in either Ostwald or Miranda to replace a midfielder. Alternatively, I would play 4-3-3 (center) formation if I felt it was an easy game, or needed a goal badly.
Before playing any games in D2 I acquired the following players:
Rustu, Ortega, Alpay and Vassel. Instead of Vassel (Decent price and shot technique), I wanted to acquire Babangida for some speed burst, but for some reason my negotiations were always cancelled (Anyone with a tip/explanation? How do I offer a greater salary for the players with whom I want to negotiate a transfer?)
This is my story so far, by the way I won my first game in D2 by one goal to nil. Looking back, my most notable D3 memories are:
The most dramatic game: 3-2 against Rheinland. I am down by 2-1 and one of my defenders was sent out. Towards the 60th minute the CPU fouls Bestchastnykh just outside the penalty area and my team is awarded a freekick. The situation was to my disadvantage, because I thought I was not good at freekicks and preferred to have a direct shot at the goal rather than figuring out how to take the freekick. Anyway, Matt takes the kick and scores! This is my first freekick goal in an official game! Later on I score another goal with Castello and after defending like crazy I win the game 3-2. After my guy was sent out I thought of turning off the PS2 and putting the game aside for good, but for some reason I didn't do that and I am glad that I did not.
Easiest Game: During the play-offs against River Plate (PAMADAR or sth. like that). It was a clear victory with a score of 5-0

WE6I: Yes it makes a difference. If you notice, all the players that are on the original squad don't require a transfer fee if you want to purchase them. In the long run, this should help out if you wanted to play with the original squad in the ML. Budget maintainence isn't very difficult in my opinion.
WE6FE: Not much difference. All players, regardless if they are on the original squad, require transfer fees. BUT these players require less of a transfer fee than if you were another team trying to buy them! It mght take a lot longer to acquire all the players from the original squad, so at the beginning, it's a lot more about handling your budget well and performing at your best!

I did this to the best of my ability. It looks something like this. Doni and Zambrotta could very easily play as my OMF should I need them too, but Miranda and Ximenes suck so I keep Doni and Zammy there. My defense needs some work, I plan on picking up Nesta and Cannavaro. Neuville is doing better than I thought he would, but I'm going to get van Nistelrooy to replace him. Neuville can sit on the bench :p

I know someone who is going for the perfect season. All wins, the treble, top goal scorer and top assist man. He has come close, he had everything except 5 ties in the season! Push yourself man.

As we all have had to do, shooting in this game takes practice. Try practice mode and see for yourself. Use very good players and crappy players just to get a feel for them. The keeper, well you can't move him side to side, but you can draw him out by pressing and holding the triangle button! Good luck with your ML then.

Very true....I guess look at S. blue78 17-04-2003, 04:10:AM Yeah I'll switch Giggs to LW if U think its better for him there. On the Rivaldo - Zidane thing -- Rivaldo is faster but Zidane has better pass stats(I think) but the main reason Zidane is my starter is TEAMWORK - Zidane 98,Rivaldo 75.Teamwork is very important,I rate it very high in a player who has it.
Thanks.
Decado 17-04-2003, 07:28:AM *Shrugs* I'm no expert. But if you have Giggs on the right wing you have to have him moving toward your own goal so he can cross with his left foot. Hasn't worked for me. I always keep him on the left, or occationally in the middle.

You're using a 4-3-3 obviously. Why don't you try something a bit differen't. 3-5-2 maybe...

For Cafu, Diesler and Stewart, I wouldn't preferably put those lads there, but using your starting eleven, that's what I came up with as a prelim formation, maybe switching Diesler and Stewart would be better. I am not too sure about their stats! Give it a go though since you might want more success for the little time you get to play the game!

Give the 4-4-2 a go if you want. I just didn't see any good SBs in your line-up. Also, if you do go with the 4-4-2, go with the diamond middle, as you probably know, Totti does best as a very offensive mid-fielder where he can be a third forward but still be able to distribute from the mid-field.
Glad to hear you will try out the 3-5-2. I think it is best for now with the players you have. Only suggesion though. It basically depends on how tight your games are. If you are up towards the end of the game, lets say the 75th minute, you might want to swtich to a 5-3-2. I might help in case you might be losing games due to last minute heroics by the comp!
cheers

I used your 3-5-2 for 2 games so far and it's not bad. Except I think i had one guy back deep in midfield and you had 2 so i may try that. I lost 2-1 to Marseille but they always give me problems and tied Newcastle 0-0. Going to give it a go for a few more games and see. Thanks for the advice.

Oh man, yeah, switch that! You want two DHs in the mid-field! You are cutting yourself way too thin in the back if you keep it at one! This formation that I suggested is really great for creating tons of play! Play it wide when open, esp. to Babangida! With my suggested formation, you should be open almost 24/7! Totti should be very dominate from his position as well!

Yeah I know. I will switch it tonight. I agree that totti should be good from there too and babangida out wide. I thought about playing cafu out there too on the other side but we'll see. I think he is better as a DH. Thanks again for the advice.

CANADIAN.10 19-04-2003, 04:43:AM I stareted the ML 3 weeks ago and just finished my 9th season in normal. Its my 4th season in the 1st div. I also work and got family but I play it everyday. I work from 2pm-10pm. I usually play 2 hours in the afternoon and when I get home at 11pm, I usually play till 2-3am. Getting in to these stupid arguments with the wife but I love this f u c k i n g game. :hump:
danger zone 19-04-2003, 05:12:AM I just recreated most of Arsenals side by picking them up on frees. Took a while to presuade Viera and Henry however.

Yo, 314frog....wasssuuuppp....My suggestions are Guardiola, Ulises, Ruasez, Mostovoi.....maybe Anuca for that DMF position...Kinda depends what formation ya runnin'...Now, in a 3-4-3 diamond midfeild, sometimes at the DMF position I've put HIGHLY offensive players like Tomasson or Asamoah...As the play builds up, they come in from the rear to the top of the box to smash it home......I think its key that this player has good passing/teamwork, heading, and aggression skills so keep that in mind....In a 4-3-3 its totally acceptable to put offensive minded players on the SB positions...Guardiola AND Ulises work great from this position..I put my shorter guys like Juninho and BABANGIDA (he deserves capitals, no?) on the outside for speed & lack of height......
p.s. As I read back over this I remember that I have to NOT buy star players just to keep the ML a challenge even on EXTREME....so I may have recommended some middle of the road guys....but they're on my team and ...my boys is wicked!:rockman: :crazyboy:

Yes,Makelele should be a good buy.He is a very good player in that position.

Hopefully your ML is going better. I usually play WE6FE BUT I decided to give WE6I a try a couple days ago and started a ML on EXTREME. Got promoted my first season! My secret and main reason. Babangida. It's not just him, but his positioning. My major recommendation and suggested change for you is to move Totti to Olisedebe's position and shift Babangida to the OH position. Shift either Cafu or Diesler, Diesler might be much better, to Babangida's original position. Place a DH where Diesler was! The main focus here though is Babangida:
Atleast once or even twice a game, you can always get wide open 1v1 chances with Babangida against the keeper situations! These chances occur with him going at full sprint starting from the mid-field line and continuing until you want to take the wide open shot. You will have to work on it since it will take timing on your dribbling when to cut to avoid defenders and how to approach the goal. Once you can master this, you can almost assure yourself a goal a game! This is only with Babangida in WE6I since he is extremely fast! Try this and you might see what I am talking about. You never slow down, you are at a full sprint the whole way, from start to you deciding to take the shot!

I feel ya man. It is frustrating for many a few times! Best advice is play the international cups and small tournaments with lesser teams on 5 star. Take a break from ML. Just try to have fun and get a feel for playing with less than average squads against the better teams. Once you feel clear headed and fresh, try a new ML and build a team using good strategy and play smart. Take your time and plan ahead for each game.
Before you start throwing anything out the window, say what the prob. is my man! Maybe some of us will have some good answers to give ya. Hopefully I could help ya out. All in all jumbo, don't give up, take a break if ya have to and just chill out my man!

Don't get Vieira he's not worth the money. He's got very good stats but his defending is rubbish. He maybe better on ML but i was playing with Arsenal for the Umbro-Konami cup and he was ****.

I think that it just might be your playing style that causes Vieira to be ineffective for you. I find that I have the same problem with other players with great stats, such as Larsson. He just doesn't fit into my style of play, so he turned out to be pretty useless for me. On the other hand, Vieira is a relelation on my team. He's strong on offense and even stronger on defense. He's great for stealing possession in midfield with slide tackles and starting quick counter attacks. I used to hate using Bergkamp when I first started playing WE6FE, due to his lack of speed and acceleration. Eventually, as my style of play changed as my play improved, I switched him to a deep lying forward position and he became much more effective for me.
danger zone 20-04-2003, 09:49:PM Well said. Viera is the heart of my midfield, he's good at holding up the ball and finding space for Henry and Bergkamp. Powerful aloso, it's funny seeing him fly through Liverpools gay defence.

It's goin ok I guess. I finished last in my 3rd season and lost in the semi's of the Tiny Cup to Aston Villa. I am playing pre-season games now before startign season 4. I am playing much better and getting draws and a win here and there. Thanks again for the suggestions. Right now my Lineup is:
GK Van Der Sar
CB Panucci
CB West
CB Song
DH Toefting
DH Cafu
LH Bagandia
RH Diesler
OH Totti
CF Olisedebe
CF Montella
That is working well right now. I may move Bagandia to OH like you suggested and see what happens.

well...i'm playing a 4-4-2 with a diamond midfield... roy keane use to play flawlessly there...anyways...i'm still looking for a GOOD defensive midfield who can succeed keane there... guardiola?... im not sure about him...i really like vieira...but i was thinkin about getting overmars and play a 3-5-2....since i have so many wingers ...or players who can play as wingers...hMmm... i think iima take a look at cocu...he seems kinda good...or o yesss!! davids!! not sure if i can lure him outta contract...but i will try... anyways...thanks for everyone's suggestions..peace

rascricket 22-04-2003, 01:16:PM Yeah, Guardiola isnt cuttin' it lately...I've actually found Anuca to be more effective....
I probably suggested middle of the road guys...Davids would be kick ass...I dominate this game so much that having an all out Dream Team would TOTALLY ruin the experience...
Yo, that 4-4-2 might be good but I've a lot of faith in the 3-4-3 diamond...if ya stick wit the 4-4-2, a suggestion is to set the SB's (or just one) little attack arrow to FORWARD/ATTACK....this helps alot....USE OFFENSIVE PLAYERS AT THE SB
I saw someone post some concerning the placement of left and right footed kickers...YOU CAN PLACE THEM ANYWHERE....Its actually highly effective to have say a left footed OMF on the right side...It depends how you USE them! Dont be shy bout dat, mon.
Use that give-n-go pass alot....When the passer takes off, the defense has to somewhat commit to that player allowing for space!....Crickets tip-o-da-day:rockman:

I seriously think you should consider Overmars and Makalele. They are great defensive midfielders.Try them.:D ;)

jmcclure3tx 23-04-2003, 07:09:PM The defensive midfielders I have had success with are:
Mostovoi (RUS)
Hamann (GER)
Vieria (FRA)
Cellini is not bad -- I'm in season 9 on extreme and he is the only original player left on my roster.
mathewsss 23-04-2003, 08:56:PM If you don't have money for the Vieiras or Davids of WE6I/FE, then I would suggest getting some of these guys:
They are efficient defensive midfielders who are pretty good at their job of cutting out CPU attacks in midfield. Some of them also score goals !
Bous (Senegal)
Toefting (Denmark)
Gravesen (Denmark)
Vogel (Switzerland)
Petit (France)

monkee 24-04-2003, 02:14:PM Been a while since I've been here but my team is taking shape and the performance is improving.
I've finished my first season in div1 on Extreme as Man Utd, and it went well, and ended with me finishing 2nd in the table. I lost in the Masters Cup in the 2nd round and got beat by Madrid in the 1st match of the Masters Tournament. But 2nd wasn't bad for my first season, even if I was winning with 2 games left and failed to win either of them which meant that Madrid won the League.
In the off-season I decided that I would take all my money and buy 1 great player, instead of a couple of players to improve certain positions and a LMF was decided on because, although Denilson was doing well, his teamwork rating just wasn't was high as I was looking for (80 is my preferred minimum and certain exceptions will be made by mid 60s was too low).
Looking around it was either Nedved or Rivaldo. Nedved didn't want to join, but Barcelona had just been relegated from div1 so Rivaldo joined. Even though SMF is his 2nd favoured position after OMF I wasn't going to drop Doni, yet. Doni had a poor season in the season before so I thought if he doesn't get up to scratch this season Rivaldo would become OMF.
Start of season 2 in div1 ML Extreme. My starting line-up now read:
GK: Oscal Bocorda (Col)
CB: Alayo (Par)
CB: Sesar (Brilliant Brazil)
LB: Sarnos (Brilliant Brazil)
RB: Frechaut (Por)
LMF: Rivaldo (Bra)
DMF: Oliseh (Nig)
OMF: Doni (Ita)
RMF: Babangida (Nig)
CF: Emile Mpenza (Bel)
CF: Chiesa (Ita)
at the halfwar point of season 2 I find myself 5pts in the lead of the division and I'm in the final of the Masters Cup. I'm going all out for the clean sweep. :)
I've decided that once the season's over, Mpenza's position needs improving. Once again I want a world class player and I've got my eye on Vieri.

Other self-imposed rules are that I won't buy anyone from the 'classic' teams unless they are brought into the game by other teams, and I'm not allowed to buy a world class player and leave him on the bench, to stop me hogging all the best players.

What's up with that man?! heh. Give them a little time before expecting anything too great from your newly acquired players. Let them get integrated. Also make sure your style of play is not changing just because you have better players statistically. You might be relying too much on them throughout the games instead of relying on a team effort like you had to with the default players!? People will have the tendancy to suddenly rely on a better newly acquired CF for instance and always try to make something happen with them. Hence, this creates repetition and predictability. The comp will tear you a new one if one where to continually do this!
cheers ;)
voetballiefhebb 26-04-2003, 03:15:AM Yeah. Try changing your tactic.

akvelocity365 26-04-2003, 03:49:AM I just re-read my prior post. ugh! heh
Sounds like I am saying to always play the same way. No good. I was meaning to say to not become a linear team just because you have some ringers now. Just like you probably had to with the default team, play varied, well thought out and executed football! Like it was mentioned, change the formation if you have to integrate your new boys better. That may help. Just don't take steps backward in your style of play just because you have better players. As you will and have seen, your team just won't get the results you are looking for!

You'll find that this happens when you buy new players, that's why I buy mine in the off-season and give them the 4 pre-season games to integrate.
Watch their team-work rating. When they are new to the team, it'll be down at about 35-40. It means that they aren't accustomed to the team yet. As they play games their teamwork will increase (if you play the 4 pre-season games you should be able to get them up to about 50 before the start of the season).
Also, watch this stat when you drop a player (even if it is to rest them) their team-work will go down a little, but you'll get it back when they play.
I thought that this was a nice feature.

Wooo!:jambo:
monkee 29-04-2003, 12:01:PM End of my 6th season and I achieved the unprecedented treble, and what a match the final of the Masters Trophy turned out to be.
I'd won the league by 8pts in the end but it went down to the last couple of games of the season, but after it was sewn up I had chance to relax and the 2nd place team lost heart.
The Masters Trophy included Munich, who I was playing the first round, along with Roma and London.
In the first round Munich got off to the ideal start with a Scholl screamer after 8mins but with determination, and an inspired Doni and Babangida who assisted for both goals in the comeback, with Doni scoring the equaliser. I managed to earn a 2-1 victory to set up a final where I would face... Everyone's bogey team, ROMA!
It was probably the toughest match I've had against the ai on PES2. It took me 31mins to break through the deadlock with Mpenza, who had had a terrible season in the league, stealing in on a loose ball to go 1-1 with their goalie and he coolely slotted the ball home.
Then came the onslaught. Roma were putting tons of pressure on me but Bocorda was keeping goal in the game of his life. It seemed that no matter how Roma shot the ball Bocorda would be there, or just manage to get his finger tips to it from any position in the goal. I've never seen anything like it on this game, and it was marvellous and so realistic (if you think of your fave goalie in top-top form).
However, there is only so much a goalie can do under that sort of pressure, no matter what form he is in, and on 60mins Totti fed Batistuta, who found himself with only the keeper to beat and he slid the ball in passed the onrushing Bocorda, who very nearly stopped that too. It was 1-1, and I had work to do.
It was all Roma. They were making the chances, but slowly I began to creep back into the game, having a couple of chances of my own but they were unlikely to trouble their keeper.
89th min... you couldn't have written a script like this... 89th min, last game of the season, Man Utd vs. Roma, Man Utd going for the treble but their up against it, 1-1... thinking of extra-time and desperately wanting my first ever treble... 89th min. I have a corner from the left. Rivaldo whips in a dangerous ball, but there's nobody there. Up pops Mpenza, who, in the words of Peter Brackley 'tries a diving volley'. But he hits it straight into a Roma defender at point blank range. The ball's running out of the box and away from danger. Doni's chasing after it. He catches it up just outside the semi-circle at the edge of the box. He manages to turn around the rushing defender and gets himself a yard of space. He shoots for the bottom left corner. The keeper can't make it... and it's 2-1 in the last moments of the final. CHRISTIANO DONI!!!
I managed to hold on for the last few moments and win the trophy, and the treble.
I've bought Vieri in the off-season with the proceeds of the successful season. Let's see what he can do.
blue78 30-04-2003, 12:23:AM Wow!that's g-r-e-a-t,congrats.I expect U play on Extreme Mode then well done.
I finished my 11th season in ML Hard Mode, only my second season on Hard Mode.Finished in 5th POS.
W11-D12-L7 GF32 GA31 PTS45
Lost MCUP Semi 0-2 to Parma
I decided to "step up" and give Extreme mode a try so I strated a new ML Franchise w/Madrid.Okay I thought,I'll work the ball around,be patient,be cool and I'll do alright.Oh fok,I got slaughtered--GAMEOVER,didn't even complete a season in 4 ****TRIES.****.I managed to score 6 goals in my last season on Extreme but I let in 32!my defence needs improvment to handle that level.I'll give it another go later but for now I'm going back to Hard Mode season 12 in my other ML.
By the way I always buy MPENZA in Extreme Mode,I don't know but this player is the shilt ****unbelievable,a great scorer.I wish he would sign with my Club early than late in the season.A top CF scorer is a must on Extreme Mode.

End of my 6th season and I achieved the unprecedented treble, and what a match the final of the Masters Trophy turned out to be.
It was probably the toughest match I've had against the ai on
PES2.
Very interesting Monkee. :D Almost as interesting as mine.:D
Wooo!:jambo:
voetballiefhebb 30-04-2003, 12:35:AM I have the title. I have around 300 to spend. I think I will just buy duplicate positioned players for squad rotation. 3 games reamining. I think I will play them tonight. :)
monkee 30-04-2003, 12:10:PM I played my friendlies last night and barring any injuries I can see Vieri breaking all my single player scoring records. The guy is quality. If anyone hasn't give him a go, he was scoring goals left right and center, outside or inside the box. One move against Barcelona saw him charge onto a through ball and chip it over their goalies head getting the ball to swerve in (it was going wide of the right post) and it slotted right into the top right corner. But the guy is quality.
I just hope he doesn't pick up any injuries, I lost Sheringham because I was unwilling to meet his wage demands for a sub of his ability, and the likelyhood that he was going to be used at all. I still have Mpenza though who can play right wing or center forward.
Blue78. It was on Extreme mode yeah. I found it very, very difficult to start off with and almost went bust in my first season but luckily I won a couple of games when I was on the verge of game over. Finished about 5th or 6th in my first season in div3, and had a better 2nd season where I won the division. I found that getting a pacey and solid defender from the free's helped more than getting a good striker though. Castello, Huygens and Baroja seemed to have the knack of scoring some vital goals for me in div3. I needed more class up front in div2, and a good midfielder (Doni was my choice because Juninho wouldn't join).
You have to sort the defence out in Extreme. If you can defend well then you can build up your attacking options and more goals will follow. But if you concede 32 goals a season, then you're going to end up in negative goal difference more often than not in div3. That's what I found anyway. I learned how to limit the other team then exploit the gaps created when I broke up their attacks.
cohiba1973 01-05-2003, 01:31:AM Ok, I need some seious help here, I am getting a little discouraged after hearing all these stories.
I have had WE6:Intl now for exactly a month now and I am in my 3rd year ML. I got promoted to div 2 in my second year but then after that I got relegated and am now starting my 3 year in div 3. I play just about every night and can't seem to develop any kind of consistency. I must be doing something wrong, I am getting beat by div 3 teams and check out my squad:
(BACK-UP IN PARENTHESIS)
GK:VICTOR BAIA -CREATED PLAYER(CESAR SANCHEZ)
CBT:NESTA(HENDRY)
CBT:GARAMA(HIERRO)
SB: R.CARLOS(SALGADO)
SB: ALAYO(VORLANDER)
DMF:MOSTOVOI
WG: BABANGIDA (GUTI)
MF: FIGO
OMF:ZIDANE(ZILLIVIC)
CF: BESCHASTNYKH(KEDIAVES)
CF: RAUL (BLANCO)
Is WE6I harder than PES2? I am playing in Normal. I have about 6000 credit and about to sell Guti to Galatasaray for about 4000 more. Every season I have played, I have had the least amount of goals allowed, even when I got relegated. My defense is solid, It is my lack of offensive firepower that I am missing, sometimes it is as if none of my mf and cf like each other.
Any advice would be helpful. I think I will start by changing my formation tonight to 3-4-3.

ok, so get rid of the russion and replace with Klose or Donovon, and replace Babangida/Guti with Forlan. I will check out their stats tonight.
I will try anything, got 4 more games this season, sitting in 4th place with 15 points, first place is Aston w/ 19 pts. I think I will pick up Donovan for now and get Klose and Forlan in the offseason. Should be done tonight, I will let you know how it goes.

Well after numerous game over's. I am finally in D2 after 5 seasons in D3. I had to play Bordeaux, Vasco Da Gama and Barcelona in the playoffs. I beat Bordeaux 3-1, beat Vasco 2-1 and got hammered by Barcelona 5-1 but it was enough to get promoted. Kluivert killed me in that game so I bought him from Barcelona in the off-season. My current team is:
4-3-3 may switch to only 1 DH
GK Van Der Sar
LB Candela
CB Song
CB West
RB Panucci/Cafu
DH Toefting
DH Edilison/Bangdida
OH Totti
CF Kluivert
LW Montella
RW Olisedebe
Bench:
GK Rustu
CB Lumassi
CB Cafu/Panucci depending on who doesn't start
DH Edilison/Bangadia depending on who doesn't start
Mid - Stewart
Mid - Zubov
CF - Rossi
CF - Boksic
CF - Donovan
I think that is everyone. I won D3 in season 5 and am now playing friendlies before the start of D2. I have over 15,000 points at the moment.
