Can someone tell me, or give me a couple examples how to make a perfect collar? it won't work... they all look terrible.. Or is there someone who has a tutorial with GOOD collars?

Sorry I didn't answer before but I've just seen the post.
Well, I use Photoshop 7, and to make the collars I always use the "Eliptical Marquee Tool" (for rounded collars) and for the most complex collars I use the Pen tool, you can learn how to make curve lines with the pen tool, with the image I've attached.
