I just downloaded my copy of the demo 3 days ago. Since then, I have still not managed a win for the past 10 games with Arsenal. We are stuck in 10th place with only 7 goals to our credit. The last match was against Milan in the Champion's League...we lost that one 3-0. http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/frown.gif

It's looking sour all the way...I have got 8 first team players injured.
In Cm99/00 I managed Arsenal through 5 succesive trebles but this seems a near impossible feat to achieve in Cm00/01.

BTW: Since I started playing...there were no media involvement in the game. Something is really wrong or the demo might be plain crap. http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif

The game is great and a must buy, don't let Arse put you down off a great game and a pretty good demo......

I have used several tactics and none of them seem to work right. http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/frown.gif

I think the game is to easy. I'm in first pace in the leauge Still n both domestic cups and past the first group stage in the CL. If you want something more challenging get UEFA Manager 2000. That one makes it harder on you. First of all you have to prove yourself. You can't just pick a team of the bat and start playing, you have to prove to the game you have the skills of the big leagues manager. It lists a number of teams that have available job openings for a manager. Most of them are 3rd and lower division teams. You have to aply for the job in this game. Even if there is a position available at the big level like Barcelona or Juve they won't hire you cause your a new manager with no experience. You also have to worry about alot more than just the actual futbal in this game. You have to worry about banking, merchandising, upgrades and increasing capacity of the stadium. parking lots, trainning facilities and much more. The game it's self is much better than CM. It has audio and visual commentary. You can also se the actual game in progress, I mean it, it has a little screen and you see the game and the ball being tosed around. The graphics arend like FIFA's but better than ISS. I think it's a better alternative to CM.

UEFA manager is the same game as Premier Manager 99 of Actua sports, but is MUCH newer... Yes, there you have to pick a 3rd division club, but in 99 version, you can change clubs only during the offseason. Is it the same in UEFA Manager?

oh yeah, I might be wrong, because there was a game Euro League Football manager, and it was the new version of PM 99... Who made the UEFA Manager?

CM tactics are weird. Even in 99/00.

What works for a whole year will all of a sudden become stale and non-productive.

With Newcastle, I am suffering badly from injuries. Kieron Dyer is out for 18 MONTHS with a broken leg. Sucks. And I have pennies it the purse to find a replacement. To make matter worse, my only right defender is out for a month.

So I have to use very strange tactics in order to find success. When the tactic I used for a year at PSG stopped being good, I resorted to a 4-3-3 variation that won me a few games. Then I alternated strikers in the AMR role with relative success in a 3-4-3 formation. But now my defence is as leaky as a 90 year old with bladder control problems. Which is funny considering I have Rio Ferdinand & John Curtis, two of the best defenders in the game.

I gave up 4 to Portsmouth (won 8-4 as you know) and 3 to Wednesday (lost 3-1).

I am also having an 'iffy' goalie situation and a ANNOYING AS F*CKING HELL problem of giving up a goal in the first ten minutes!!! That is PISSING ME OFF. I am losing to teams I should beat because of my performance in the first ten minutes.

Anyway....SH!T happens. Ya just gotta adjust your personel and tactics.

Another crappy think that tends to happen with Newcastle, is that my Chairman takes away almost double the amount of a fee paied after a transfer. Which means that a 5 million pound player could end up depleating 10 MILLION POUNDS from the transfer purse.

Heres a helpful hint. Go through your reserves and find players that suck and have high wages. RELEASE THEM ON A FREE TRANSFER! Crap players sitting in your reserves eat away at money. Youth players don't cost anything.

Thanks for the tip. Things are getting better now, I have just beaten Valencia in the Champion's League match(played at Highbury) with a 7-0 whipping. The 5 goals from Bergkamp really turned on the style! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif I bought over Wes Brown from Manutd and sold a few other "money-eaters" in my squad.
So the latest update is: Arsenal 7 Valencia 0

BTW: I am a Newcastle fan too. http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif

Kostas 7... which team are you managing? Considering you are in CL, it must be one of the top teams... that is probably why it is easy... try taking a team from the Third Division and promoting them to the Premiership and then tell me that is easy, because it is not.

And for the guy managing Arsenal... hey, s*it happens.... I've played games where ManU finished 6th or 7th and Ferguson got fired, West Ham won the league, etc. etc.

You have probably just run into some bad luck and are using bad tactics.... and on this topic, maybe the fact that you keep changing tactics (looking for the right one) your team hasn't gotten used to one tactic and that is why they are inconsistent...

And also, the fact that the team you chose is Arsenhole (or Arse-anal as a_shearer likes to call them) - that might be a problem too http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif he he

hey, congrats man!!!
did you settle on one tactic (if so, which one?) or did you take a_shearer's advice, and mix it around???

To Legia Manchester: Thanks. I used a 5-2-3.
Tony Adams has just been sold to Barca for a handsome sum of money... I bought a few youngsters from the lower divisions, one of which is Buthia from Bury. The three attackers I have on the pitch are mainly Henry, Kanu and Bergkamp. And guess what!....I am 12 points behind Sir Alex's Manutd. We are in 2nd place.

BTW: When does the Demo stop working...I understand that it stops after half a season. http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/frown.gif Am I right? http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif

They say there is eventually a turning point in a season.
Well, for me, there hasn't been.
It must be Newcastle, i just can't manage them. I thought the "turning point" was when i beat arse-anal and chelsea in succession. But noooooo, i had to lose the next 7 games. (by the way, they were the only two league matches i won in the half season demo)
It can't be my fault, when i was in control of England, i beat France 3-0, Germany 4-1 and Finland 2-1.
I would like some tips so i can start again and actually be successful. It is really quite depressing reading that fans have had an angry demonstration (ie riots) outside the training ground after losing 2-0 at home to Bradford.....
