View Full Version : Injury cinematics
pj23h 18-03-2003, 03:52:PM I was playing Fifa 2003 a little while ago, and was thinking of little touches which could improve the game somewhat (besides heading the ball)! The cinematics are an important part of any game, as they are in Fifa. I was thinking about how much more realistic the game would be if, at an injury, it would be possible for a cinematic showing the stretcher and ambulancemen coming onto the pitch to deal with the player who has been hurt. I remember playing one of the early Madden games on the Sega Megadrive (Genesis), and whenever a player got hurt, an ambulance came onto the field, loaded the player into it, and then drove off the field, knocking down anyone who got in its way! The last bit was a little far from the truth, but it certainly added a bit of humour to the game! Anyway, I just thought I'd share my thoughts with the rest of you. Many thanks for giving me the chance to voice my opinions and ideas. Best wishes to you all.
this could make the game more realistic, i guess if cinematics are greatly added to a computer game, i would spend more time playing soccer games then watching them on TV, ha
kibitto 18-03-2003, 07:14:PM yes this is good idea maybe ask Ariel ??
Maybe he van do this cinematics...
[mouta-FCP] 18-03-2003, 07:30:PM Surelly a good idea. But Ariel seems very busy last days. I remeber the International Superstar Soccer for N64 where when a player was injured the medic entered in the field. Also the player was transported outside of the field. It will make the game more realistic. I also ask if it's possible to Ariel release the cinematics for all the people so we can use it in our patchs. Would be great.
GeForce4 18-03-2003, 08:00:PM MMM , it can be a great adition
Hercules 18-03-2003, 08:43:PM From my knowledge adding new moving parts (i.e. characters) to the game is not possible. Also, when can you show the cinematics? The game sometimes doesn't stop when a player gets injured. Current cinematics (as far as I know) are only shown when the game is stopped.
CarlosAlex 18-03-2003, 09:01:PM It's a really good idea!!
SB9Dragon 19-03-2003, 12:39:AM I agree with Hercules, there couldn't really be an injury cinematic added, but perhaps like an injury autoaction, like u know when the a player misses and he throws his arms around and stuff? Maybe when a player gets injured he falls 2 the ground or something.... cause currently it is so unrealistic, but in reality, it just doesn't matter, there are better stuff 2 be edited and stuff....:D
Budge 19-03-2003, 02:42:AM you could have it at the first stoppage after the injury, u know how it pops up with so and so has severly injured this...well you could have it before this, like him on the ground holding whatever it is, like in nhl, they have the injury cinematic in the first stoppage after, but i also agree with SB9Dragon, we need to make it so that they stay down for a while and hold something, or complain...
Hugo-45-Viana 19-03-2003, 03:28:AM Actually it can happen. Because at the stop of time when the player is to be subbed you can probably bring in an ambulance. I ALSO think that they should REALLY make the injuries more realistic, for instance if its a serious injury the player lies on the ground in pain, and for that ambulance would come out. If the player only had a minor injury, he can run around(much slower of course), and then he'll go with the medic to check the injury on the sidelines.
Just my input..
Hakeem 19-03-2003, 07:29:AM I'll ask Ariel but I dont think its possible though it would be great :)
simcut 19-03-2003, 08:23:AM that's something I really miss, I'd love more cinematics in the game, why they removed substiution cinematics I dont know, they should animate the coach, have him getting pissed off when the other team scores, it cuts to him shouting at the players and smashing his fist on the dugout or something, or cheering when the team scores, and getting the players running towards him and jumping on him and that :) they should also have more than 1 game on at the same time, so you get updated with scores in the group while your game is being played, I also think something that needs adding is a aggregate scoreline, say if your in the UEFA Cup, I sometimes forget what the score was in the first leg.... so its not very clear, so many changes but now the graphics are perfect, EA Sports can concentrate on the tweaks :) gladly.

They have that sorta thing in NBA 2003, it looked great when for the first time, but it was only one cinematic at half time, where the players try to sign autographs and the coach tells the player off, maybe FIFA should have suffin along those lines
