That gold star was put on by request by Tony Blair. He also asked for the same gold star to be added to the USA flag. (H)

It's horrible. World cup 1998 is the nicest in the recent 10 years, Euro 96 not too far behind. 1966 one was the best though for so many reasons. Oh actually, maybe the star was put on the shirt to thank the Russian linesman. :)

THIS is the first look at England's new football shirt.
FA chiefs have desperately been trying to keep the strip under wraps before the official launch next week.

But The Sun has a sneak preview of the kit that David Beckham and the boys will be wearing when they take on Liechtenstein next Saturday.

The Umbro design includes a single gold star above the three lions crest to recognise England's 1966 World Cup triumph.

It is England's first home kit since Sven Goran Eriksson's opening game two years ago.

But fans will have to wait until April 2, the day England play Turkey, before they can buy the £45 shirt.

45 quid for that? I can't see many people wasting that much cash on a kit like that. It looks more like some kinda polo shirt that the players would wear walking around some foreign city...not a football kit.

I like the red stripe. :)

I'll be buying it as it winds up all the loser teams up here

Looks pretty crap to me. The previous one was nice I thought. Like, compare it to this. Whats better? This one is modern and looks cool. The new one has a collar too. Collars look dumb on football jerseys.

It should look better with the numbers on the front. It looks best from Cole's angle. I guess its not that bad.

If they cut the red crap out on the sleaves it would look good and with the gold star on the front above the badge. They should do what Rangers did select 100 or so fans and let the fans design it!

Strange you say that, i've been going to hearts games for close on 25 years and have never seen anyone with an england shirt on :confused: anyone who did would be slagged ruthlessly...as for loyalists, yeah we have a few numptys who appear when Celtic come to town...they are called Rangers fans!
