Well I put down pro evolution1 for a long time, to play other games. The other day, i picked it up and wrote down a few things that distinguish it from Fifa

1) When the controller is on the ball, from defence to attack, u are pressed to a certain degree, depending on what level it is on.

-U are pressed, and ur near by options, are closed down, leaving the emphasis on u passing the ball quickly or dribbling and drawing people out of position.

-Unless u are really skilled at using both R2 and R1 buttons, u can not keep the ball with one player for long. U are closed down until u can hardly move and have to pass the ball.

-When u are on the ball in attacking position, U are tracked all of the time by at least one player, however the emphasis is more on the keeping the space for the striker low.

2) In fifa, there seems to be a player almost man marking every player. But in reality most teams mark zonely as in Pro evo.

- If u spread the ball wide with a long ball in pro evo, there will be a player that is close to you but not on top u like fifa , making it impossible to recieve a long pass.

- When passes or crosses are delivered into the area in fifa, because every player is being more or less man marked, there are just on or two players defending crosses where as in pro evo, u get 4 or 5 players in and around the area.

3) In fifa, every thing scripted to deal with a limited number of situations. in pro evo, things happen as to what happens in the match.

- EG if u are down the wing, there is never doubling up and wingers rarely track back, making it easy to pick ur pass. in pro evo, u cannot just run inside and find more space, two players will be straight on u

- In pro evo, the ai is so good that at times, the players anticipate the passes, according to where ur facing etc. sometimes if u have ur back to goal they may stand of or they will pressure u, they could even double up.

- In fifa u can make every pass a good one but in pro evo u have to pick ur passes other wise you will get pressurised and lose the ball, so u have to know where to dribble, pass and shoot, in accordance to each situation.

i will tell u more differences later

FIFA = promised better individual teeth, but the teeth seem too blurry in game.
WE = no individual teeth promises, but the teeth looks even better than EA in game ( and with a good gameplay . . . how ironic . . . )

It is very difficult to understand why people keep comparing the two games. Both are only video games and will never have the realism of real football. PES comes close with their gameplay, Fifa with their licences. I read that one will never score a similar goal in PES. I disagree. This is a game and like all games it is scripted.

To me, a video game can never depict a real football game, be it Fifa or PES. If you want the feel of a real football game, put on your football boots and play on the field with your group of friends. Spending too much time on video games and arguing which game is better is not healthy as well as productive.

I agree with da previous post to a certain extent, like sure its just a game, but the whole idea of a game these days is to be realistic. And sport games are susposed to be realistic, and to me fifa 2004 is realistic enough and im happy with the game and all the fifa series and thats why i have never played pes, i will one day though. But for me if its not broken why fix it.

Well, just play PES, and then you'll find out many things "broken" about fifa.
