View Full Version : Can another company take the Fifa franchise?
As far as I know the FIFA name isn't exclusive to EA and another company can take it?
So whats the chances of another company taking over from 2004?
Sorry but EA have proven once again that all they care about is money, either that or they know nothing at all about FOOTBALL.
'Soccer' is an american name for an american game which is NOT the same as Proper football. It has stupid Americanised features and changes.
Now back to the point. EA are just mas producing for their mass market and milking every penny they can get out of the anme and I am sick of it.
FIFA 2003 is a JOKE!!
What the hell kind of football game is it when chips/lobs are useless? Or where you canm't head a ball standing on your own?
Or when the AI difference ebtween the CPU team and your is MASSIVE? (Your team AI is practically retarded whicle the CPU hunt like packs of super efficient sniffer dogs.
Please tell me someone can bid this franchise away from EA and lets get a proper FIFA game again.
Clearly EA are only interested in good old capitolism and don't care about the game at all.
Why should football lovers have to suffer their greed and incompetance? They can't even be bothered to patch their mistakes!! Its a joke.
Please everyone email FIFA and plead with them not to sell the rights to the franchise to EA again.
They shoudl sell it to a smaller Euro developer. One that knows about Football and CARES about making a good Football game!!
bertkamp16 25-03-2003, 01:28:AM No. Soccer is football is voetbal is futbol. They are all the same game. Even though you might not like that fact...
A Euro company?? Are you implying that Europeans are the only people that cna really make a football game?? Winning Eleven is a mighty fine football game and it's NOT made in Europe...

Since USA is the only place that uses the term 'soccer' and USA 'soccer' has major differences to real football, then I would guess it stands to reason they are different.
You might use the anme for football, but since its an American term applied ot the american sport to avoid confusion with their 'men in tights version', it can't be the same game can it.
The have different rules to the game that we don't have. Particluarly in regard to corners and penalties where they decided to make their own 'improvements'

Yes thats exactly what I am implying. Not only Europe, SOuith America and many other nations as well.
Nations which have pasionate football cultures.
The US has no idea about football never has had an likly never will. They prefer the 'men in tights' version...
Bobby 25-03-2003, 01:36:AM You make about as much sense as Heskey winning FIFA player of the year.

Bud, you are totally missing the point! The word soccer comes from AsSOCiation Football and was devised by the English Fa to distinguish between Rugby Football and Association football. They coined the name 'soccer' but then didn't adopt it.
If you look across the forums you will see that the majority of American posters in the threads hate FIFA becasue it doesn't reflect real soccer/football. They have been begging Konami for years to release the PES/WE series becasue that is real soccer/football. Don't blame North America for FIFA's shortcomings. The games is crap becasue EA don't have a freaking clue. It's got nothing to do with what the game is called whether it's futbol, football, soccer or anything else.
Every thread you post you preach about this "American soccer" being the problem. Don't make generalizations based upon a lack of education on soccer/football in America. EA suck, not the USa soccer/football audience. There have been plenty of crap European soccer titles over the years and ironically the greatest soccer/football game producers are Japanese!!! Hardly a hotbed of soccer/football historically!

I am tired of your freaking insulting bull**** towards America and Americans. F### off and don't come back you piece of s##t. I originally lived in England and came over to America years ago and I can tell you that the soccer/football audience here knows as much about soccer as the average big-mouthed "know it all" ten pints of beer freaking idiots you get in European bars. Who the f### do you think you are to insult and belittle Americans knowledge on soccer/football?
You are full of sh##. If you look on the FIFA forum the biggest advocates of FIFA are Europeans!!! You can't even get your facts straight. We want EA to release a decent soccer/football game whether we're from America, England, Italy, Australia or wherever. I can guarantee you that I know more kids in this country who have a deeper technical and tactical knowledge and application of soccer/football than you have you f###head.
Just f### off and dine on your own BS you freaking asshole.
AhmedK 25-03-2003, 05:44:AM As TristanAbbott7 just showed you Pele (first post not second post.....) its clear Americans know a great deal about football.........
As for the second post Tristan i think your showed your point without a shadow of a doubt just fine the first time there really was no need for all the ****, and ****,and****.:)

I know but the guy pisses me off. It's ok kind of confronting individuals showing a distinct lack of understanding of the game and questioning it but to constantly belittle an entire country in every post to blame for EA's ills is stupid. I've met as many dumb English people as I have dumb Brazilians and also dumb Americans when it come's to soccer/football knowledge but I'm smart enough to realize that these are individuals not representations of entire nations.
This guy is just an asshole. The americans on these forums do as much to petition EA to change the game and for Konami to expand to multi-platform as anybody else.

Well theres a flat out lie.
The average American knows as much about football as Euros? You can't seriously believe that unless you have been dropped on your head.
Football is part of the culture of Europe, you grow up with it. Live it, breath it, eat it and fdamn well sleep it. Did you stand on the terraces as a 5 years old kid learning the game from grass roots? No you didn't . Us footbball games have a tiny audience mostly made of women and children on bloody picnincs!!
A 'deeper technical and tactical knowldedge' ...uhhh don't make me laugh. I mean lets face it, the US soccer leagues are the funniest damn thing I have ever seen. Its like watching schoolboy football in fcat schoolboys prrobably have more skill LOL
The fact you can't even think they are good shows hoiw little you know. The defnding is a joke, and the attacking isn't much better!
And yes I see the US league every week, its the funniest thing on TV here. Probably the WOST league in the world. The Japan J-League has more understanding of the game than US. You play it like a bloody media event!
Who do I think I am? Somone who comes from a country where football is the greatst sport on earth. From a country where football is its bloody beating heart. Unlike your country in which it could barely be called a fringe sport.
I have played and wathced the game since I was bloody knee high, so please spare the the US pattriotic speeches. Anyone who knows football knows the US know very little about the game.
There 'may' be a few amricans who trully undertsand the game but lets face it its a TINY minority of your people who are more interested in 'men in tights' than football..
ogsimon 25-03-2003, 01:04:PM Well. i do not agree that the average american knows as much about football as the Europeans because most of them aint interested. and some people who watch football think it is a bout just getting the ball in the net, but u have to a lot to get past defence an midfield.
Yes i do believe that the Europeans and South americans should have more input in a game with a fifa liscence.
BUt maybe it is not a case of nations, but a case of getting people who understand football, into direct contact with the developers wherever they come from. most of the people in the company who design the game have a lack of understanding of football.
dont think that Konami just came out with a design because they have natural knowledge of football, they most probably researched the game and got people who know football to explain that there are many factors in football.
In conclusion, i think people are frustrated that EA who own the fifa liscence are not being represented by all of the countries, especially, the renound football countries.
OH yeah and that the gameplay SUCKS ASS
AhmedK 26-03-2003, 01:24:AM Well you just said what the other fool said.............except in a nice way:kader:
