Football games have been done to death, right? If you already have fifa 2003, then whats the point of buying pes 2 or winning eleven 6? Because quite simply winning eleven 6 is light years ahead of fifa 2003!!!

Its an enhanced japanese special edition of pro evo soccer 2, the masively succesful ps2 title which is on its way to the gamecube. The thing that sets it apart from all the competition, including pro evo soccer 2 is the feeling of solidity and control. where other football games, no matter how good, have some faults that you have to try and ignore in order to have a decent game, winning eleven is a complete and thourough as you could hope for.

There are no easy goals, no unwelcome assistance from the computer, and no way to win on the hardest difficulty setting without having a genuine understanding of the sport. Learning how to play is a hard task. You will need to start with the basic passes and shots before moving onto the complex stuff, which is expalined via video demonstrations in the training mode.

When you beat somebody at winning eleven, it isn't because the computer has given you any assistance, or because you got lucky. its a game of pure skill, and that winning feeling takes some beating.

Good points

1. Superb controls
2. Infinite replay value
3. High skill level
4. Nice commentary

Bad points

1. Picky referees never play the advantage

EA might be able to make their game better, but I REALLY doubt it!!! :kader:

After playing WE6:FE, I doubt EA can do anything!

FIFA, other than the graphics, has been going backwards rather than forwards. If Konami stood still for the next five years FIFA wouldn't catch up let alone with Konami's constant progression.

I really do wish FIFA would get better but with the one step forward (graphics), two steps backwards (gameplay and game features) each year it doesn't seem like that's ever gonna happen.

People get educated, however slowly, and Konami are stealing more and more of EA's soccer market by the day. I can't see people making the reverse switch from Konami to FIFA somehow!

So IMO, FIFA can't compare unless there is something absolutely drastic with FIFA 2004.

The only way fifa 2004 will be good is if EA..........................???!! Acctually there is no hope :rockman:

The game is actually titled FIFA Football throughout most of the world so let's not get into the whole soccer/football thing again guys.

FIFA is dogcrap whether it's trying to be soccer/football/futbol (all the same thing). Konami is the only true representative of the beautiful game and EA will never raise their product to that standard. I wouldn't be surprised if FIFA 2004 turns out to be more scripted than ever. PES3/WE7 on the other hand will be a job destroying, relationships derailing, lock yourself away for six months at a time blockbuster with even more teams and even greater gameplay than PES2/WE6.

You don't see Konami going backwards. Those Japanese dudes have got it right, they know programming and they know gameplay.

U damn right man. Pro evo 2 is ahead and they aint gonna be caught. Every detail of gameplay from animations, down to tactics and AI, has been taken into account. The AI is the best AI i have personally seen in any game, and is the closest to football u can get. U get the ball and u cant keep the ball for more than 5-10 seconds, in fifa 2003 u can keep the ball for ever, while stopping and having a time out to stop the other team from scoring. IN pro evo if u dare stand on the ball u will be tackled and attacked.
-fifa is way to stuttery and stop start, unlike pro evo the gameplay just does not flow
- the game is too 1 dimensional, making subs and changing the limited tactics does not do much to change a game, and player attributes (limited also) are not represented on the pitch, by each player as they all have the same first touch, passing ability and skill etc.

-Goalie saves are scripted along with volleys and first touch and the free kick system is appauling with no movement. Whereas in pro evolution the player and the ball are two different things. Depending on the direction and the power of the shot, the goalie can push it all directions including off his legs and into the goal or off his legs and behind for a corner.
- in fifa it does not matter where u are facing or with what player, u can aim a shot towards goal at 80 mph, i assure u that pro evo is not like this.

woo thats that off my chest but wait theres more...

- player movement is poor, players do not close ur options down, u can pick ur pass and players often leave the ball when the can put their foot out to stop it.

- corners and all set peaces are poor there is no movement and no variety of scoring.

- Goalies in the game do not vary from positioning to shot stopping, in fifa the same could possibly be said for pro evo

hey plz guys tell me that i can get WE6FE on the xbox or pc, after seeing the movies i want that game so badly.
I also saw PES3 but somehow WE6FE looked better, with offical shirts.
Why is PES3 not with an official lisence? Or are PES3 and WE6FE the same games?

yes you are right. Its all scripted. I dont know how many times I saw an exact same situation over and over again in fifa. It like watching a same movie every time. Its so predictable.

Well I just like to see we or pes in PC...

They could be the best games ever, but in PC, well, we have only FIFA, rigth?

And I must say that, regarding FIFA is better or PES is better or WE is better, doing a game to a console is very different of doiong a game for a PC...

I don't want to say EA has some excuses, cause they don't, but I wonder how PES and WE would be in PC?

I want personally FIFA series can compete in the market itself with Konami. Over the past years, I think FIFA RTWC '98 is still the best FIFA, with FIFA 2003 comes the second place.

The only I like in FIFA 2003 is the free-kick system & the players' handling ball control itself, which is pretty good, IMO.

The most disappointed one is I can't even score from the headers (corner kick situations); players can't be substituted during the dead ball situations (The subs only happens when the ball is out of the field); & the goal scoring opportunities are all scripted. What's up with that ?? Have EA really learnt real football/soccer itself ?? :monkey:

Yea its impossible! Only the computer players can. The computer players can do things that the human player cannot. That seriously sucks.

Free kick system stinks in fifa, you hit the button get it right on the green area, GOAL! 90% of the time.. it stinks... and control... player controls are horrible in fifa, game is still scripted.. and how can you tell the control of ronaldo from Agoos, you cant, with stats from 1-7 in only 7 catagories. Horrible silly game, untill the gameplay improves, and the y start making realistic stats, and many realistic categories.. I will never buy it again.

FIFA has better things than just graphics..

they have better sound...

better presentation...

license...

more teams... more leagues...

some good music.... konami's defualt music is rather disturbing. lol

that's al I can think of for now... but just to let it be know.. FIFA does has more things better than WE6 than just graphics.. and infact.. I actually would consider graphics more close then some.. bc Konami kills fifa with graphical animations.

i think EA has the potential to make a football game Better than konami ....... but Ea sell the FIFA series all over the world and Konami only sells thier football series in europe and US . not all the ppl in the world know about soccer .

dont forget , this year for fifa 2003 there was an entire new staff and they have created a game which is OK . but many ppl still have fun shooting unrealistically from 30-40 yards . what i feel is if ea make some improvements like heading , shooting depth and improving the A.I defense, they can really compete with the other football games like WE6FE , PES 2 etc . the passing system is quite good but there's always room for improvment !

what ea should do is 2 make beginner and semi-pro levels quite easy ....easy to pick for the newbies , but they should make pro and world class very tough so that they even satisfy the hardcore lovers of football .

remember EA , making it very tough to play does not mean that when we make a run , the defender runs at 100 MPH to tackle us but by the strategy , the attributes one has the ability to tackle us . do not make the player options limited while making the gameplay hard but make the A.I strong and more intelligent so that it outplays us .

that even the newbies or the 4 yr olds will know after playing 1-2 matches .

shooting should be improved . it should have more depth like the timing , the position where he's standing , his attributes.

make a game which is easy to pick up BUT hard to master so that u satisfy both hardcore lovers of football and the newbies .

Konami should go online on the PS2, PC -- then make forXbox too and use Live....really blow EA out of the water, the teams won't matter then.

urm ogismon , playstation 2 costs around 30000 RS here (600 $) which is too expensive . why the hell would someone buy a playstation only for a game ? the game being available in USA or Europe doesnt mean that every person there has WE6 or pes 2 . fifa is available in PC ,which most of ppl in the world have .

even though pes 2 was available in europe , fifa outsold it . why ?cos most ppl have PC and not PS 2.

pes and WE series is mainly for the hardcore lovers of football . not everyone knows about football . EA has aimed for those ppl who also want to learn football (but forgot about the ppl who r also interested in more strategic type of gameplay) . i agree , football is the greatest game on this planet but it does not mean everyone knows how to play .Ea has made this game a arcadey and having fun type of game and not exactly a strategic game like WE6FE.but as i said inthe previous post they should make the first 2 levels easy and the other 2 really tough so that everyone can enjoy fifa.

Hey what's up Rahul. First of all, there's a ps1 version of PES2. If u would like to get a ps1 emulator for your computer and try this game out, email tristanabbott7@hotmail.com and he'll give you the info on where to download and stuff.

Second of all, before playing Winning Eleven back when it was winning eleven 4, i knew NOTHING about soccer. I thought it was boring. After playing winning eleven 4 I became a soccer fan, because the game simulates soccer so well. I learned all i know about soccer FROM THAT GAME. It's not that hard to pick up, it's just hard to master. So anybody can start playing (my little cousin did, and he was only 12)

hey jmsbc , i didnt mean to say that fifa is better than WE or PES . i just said that fifa is available everywhere whereas PES and WE are not available everywhere .

that is what i want fifa to become(as i said in my previous post) , easy to pick up but hard to master . that is what fifa has not done . t has made it easy to pick up and more easier to master . thats what i am saying that if they make the last two levels really hard it could satisfy both sides of ppl .

I don't think PES or WE will come out for pc. The coding is much harder in pc compare to the console(since it's only for games). That is why EA is having a tought time doing a good football game.It is easy to say i want that and this but to put those things inside takes a lot of time. And EA only have 1 year to finish their game.

fifa soccer is ****, WE6i rules big time, fifa is no where near WE6i. I m loving WE6i, its awsome and realistic gameplay. My bro is not a soccer fanatic like me, but he saw me playing and said the graphics are better than fifa. The graphics are great, the gameplay is awsome. What else do we need? The commintator that needs to be improoved, thats all.

I was a fifa player because I had no PL2 and WE6 here in NA. Now I have all that, I will never go back to fifa if they keep going backwards in gameplay wise.

Yes I agree but the defense is alot tighter in WE and makes it much harder to score. I seen 2-3 defenders follow a dangerous striker, which is normal. But it does not happen everytime. WE6i is closer to the real thing. fifa is not a soccer or football game. Why? I can't head the damn ball in fifa, what a joke hahahahaha. The gameplay is scripted and boring with the same animations over and over again. In fifa Beckham or Rivaldo does not play like themselfs. In WE6i Beckham has accurate crosses and Rivaldo has a great left foot..... All the players in WE6i has some kind of special things, moves which makes it real. The ball goes like a bullet in fifa, in WE6i the shots are perfect. Everything is almost perfect in WE6i. Big deal if Beckham's hair is not up to date, do I even pay any attention to that while I am playing this game on a tower cam? That is just childish having player's mustache, upto date hair style, Veron's ear ring.....
