View Full Version : Fifa "gameplay Update" 2002 Out Now! nickclubman 12-04-2003, 03:27:AM GO GRAB YOUR COPY!!! :D http://www.clubman.plus.com/gameplay/gameplayupdate.html Thanks, NK. Jomi 12-04-2003, 04:17:PM Nick, I've got it now, gonna play some matches and I give you feedback! Seems so exciting ! 'till later JM mutiger 14-04-2003, 10:57:PM Okay...about 10 games in the books so far...and here are some of the early inclinations. First of all...I assume that most of us are advanced players...so I would skip the lower levels. I found these to be a little too easy to score on...but also gave a lot of goals as well. If you like 5-4 games...Amateur and Professional are where it's at for you. So...let's skip right over to World Class...which I did after about four games at the other levels. YOU MUST PLAY THIS LEVEL DEFENSIVELY! Counterattack quickly...or get the heck back. Or...you must build slowly...otherwise the computer will bo on you like a cheap shirt...and they don't play nice. Most teams attack very directly...although there are some (especially poorer teams) that will really knock it around before bringing it up. Next...keep shooting. You can get a lot more shots on than you're accustomed to in previous updates...and really the only ways I have found to score so far are on direct break aways and rebounds. So the more rebounds yoou get, the beeter off you'll be. Also, shoot from further out than you're used to. I have hit a beautiful 40 yarder from the wing when I spotted the goalie cheating towards the middle, expecting a cross. Another good part about this shooting model is that you can shoot on the turn better than ever. I've also scored a goal after a punch out of a cross by the goalie...the ball rolls towrds midfield, and Ehiogu pounded one in from about 45 yards out that hit the underside of the cross bar and went in. Defensively...stay back!!!. Withdrawn defense is not a bad option...and four wide backs can also get you in trouble...I almost always play 1-3 at the back. The problem (and it's a good one when you have the ball) is that the forward are faster than most of the backs, and really get you scrambling around. Again, as in most of the latest gameplay updates...speed kills. I think the best part of this update is the size of the field...it's very noticeable. It opens up lanes for passes and running that weren't there before. I feel like the last gameplay update for this one really made you grind for goals...you needed to pass quickly...work the ball in close...shoot quickly...steal when you could...etc. This is a much more flowing game. The more powerful shots open up a whole new dimension. Nicky, there is one ting that may need some work...you could make the goalie of the team we control catch the ball more often. I give up about 8 corners a game...because my guy just always bats the ball around the goal post of long shots from beyond the top of the box...most aren't even struck that well. Otherwise...top class stuff mate! P.S. For those of you who haven't seen my earlier writings, remember I play arcade (autoseek passing turned on), slow speed, World Class difficulty, television camera, with the keyboard. In short, another great effort...and completely different from its predecessors! You simply must try this out...and for full difficulty...go with the simulation option! Great stuff Nicky, but I know there's more to come. Keep us informed. mutiger Jomi 15-04-2003, 12:11:AM Great review Mutiger ! here is my report. First of all ,congratulation to you, Nick. This update is close to perfection IMO. The best one you've ever made . OK, I just won 3-0 with K'Lautern against Nürnberg in World Class. It was my first significant win in 2 days !!! So I'm really excited. Here are my settings World Class level, slow speed, panoramic camera, power bar set to 3 out of 10 and simulation mode. I play with a sidewinder Game Pad pro. I changed the referee option to strict, because I like it this way. You have to be careful in your playing otherwise you finish the game with 8 or 9 players. You can also provoking faults from the computer. Very rewarding in the box area! Simulation mode is VERY gratifying but VERY hard to handle. You have to be careful with your pass otherwise you get trashed. The score lines are realistic. I play 6 minutes halves and I achieved 0-0 draw 3 times. It is very difficult to win. My victory quota is 5% at the moment, but I'm improving slowly. I've got the feeling that the players attributes are really taken in count. The computer misses passes sometimes and the fatigue is really a factor which plays a role. A VERY important aspect is that you have to be patient .If you rush like crazy and want to make an early goal, you have no chance! You 've got to play with your opponent, just like a cat with a mouse and don't miss it when there is an opportunity . Change your tactics, formations, bring on fresh players, in other words behave like a real coach and you will getb rewarded MAYBE !!!!! All in all, a very good update which comfort me in my decision to drop 2003 and play 2002 again. Thanks to you Nick, this game has still a bright future! Cheers JM mutiger 15-04-2003, 02:46:AM Good job Jomi, My games have been pretty tight as well. I have had one 0-0 and that was Manchester at West Brom Albion...Man U. only had 2 of 9 shots on goal...pretty ugly really. I really can't stress enough the importance of speed in this update. To test this out, I gave the computer Regina of the Serie A. I first played them against AC Milan...and Regina came out on top 3-2...after amassing a 3-0 lead. I then pitted Inter against Regina...and the speed difference between AC and Inter was staggering. Inter was in complete control throughout on their way to a 6-1 thrashing. Then, I decided to try one of Cool Niro's patched teams, Hajduk Split...a team full of 6 and 7 speed forwards...who don't shoot very well...mostly 4 and 5 shooting ratings. Again, Split completely dominated the proceedings...and even playing conservatively with a 5-3-2 set and withdrawn defense, Split won 3-1...conceding a late score. The passing system...even on arcade mode is fantastic. The system coupled with the large size of the field makes through balls almost all important...and with a team with good speed...you will be rewarded. One thing though, does anybody else have trouble winning with England? Playing with England last night, I got lit up by Scotland 4-1. Of course Scotland's first two goals came on a shot that recocheted off the post and struck Seaman in the back...and then a Ferdinand clearance struck Huchison in front of goal...and it went in. Then, when I opened things up...for England...going to a 4-3-3 with wing backs...I did get one back...but expended too much energy, and the Scots had two easy goals at the end. I then put Scotland against France to see if Scotland was just that good...and that wound up with a 4-0 thumping by France. I have had this trouble with every gameplay update I have played...England just has a hard time winning in this game...and it's not because they're underrated. Is it an evil EA plot??? It's probably because I'm not playing the right strategy or line up. What's anybody else think? Another semi-complaint...don't know if it be dealt with. I seem to be having with this update more trouble with my defenders stopping while chasing down free balls...or pursuing attackers on long passes. I think this is a cheat thrown in by EA to keep games close...but I wonder if it can be dealt with? If anyone would know, it would be Nick. Anyway...good to hear from you Jomi...hope everyone else loves this gameplay update as much as we do! Dhruv, In addition to text file, he also made alterations to pitches and pitch sizes, he also included new textures for night an day games, and a custom league. All really cool stuff, but if you want, when I get home this evening (and I can remember to do it) I'll make a copy of my cmn file which includes Nick's update...and if you give me your email, I'll send it to you...awright? I give up about 8 corners a game...because my guy just always bats the ball around the goal post of long shots from beyond the top of the box...most aren't even struck that well. Otherwise...top class stuff mate![/B] Hi, Yes it seems that the goalkeeper does not catch the ball at times where he should. Please remember though that in many cases where the goalkeeper parries the ball, he would have usually been beaten. :) I did make the goalkeepers faster, but I agree balancing it out is needed. I’ll look into it mate, thanks for the feedback and that goes to Jomi and the others, thanks guys! NK. nickclubman 20-04-2003, 12:35:PM I must say sorry to those who do/did not wish to download 10MB. If someone has yet to download it and only wants the gameplay update, then even for just that one person I will update my website and give the option to JUST download the gameplay update itself. Thanks, NK. koayts8 20-04-2003, 05:33:PM Nick Well done! However I have a problem with the commentary. I played MU versus Arsenal and I got commentary about real madrid and barcelona. Why? Please advice. Thanks nickclubman 20-04-2003, 06:26:PM Hmmmm, my update does not change any sound settings, are you sure you haven't updated, or installed any patch from another website? I can't see how my update can change something that I haven't! Weird, It might have been a little bug, please try some more matches to see if it happens again or see if it's only those teams that do this. But I cannot help here, my update does not change commentary. :( NK. Dhruv 21-04-2003, 11:57:PM Nk have u done the update which is only the txt file.. if yes then post the link or send it to me.. i have given my e-mail a couple of posts above nickclubman 22-04-2003, 12:44:AM I can't find your e-mail and do not really want to be browsing all the forums for it. :( Please post it here and I will send you the file ASAP. :) NK. nickclubman 22-04-2003, 02:35:AM I've updated the night game lighting, it's very nice now!! :D I've started updating the A.I and the tackling is much better!!!! The shooting is having work, I think this will be very close to perfection...if I may say so myself, lol. Watch this space, if you think my last updates were good, I'm finding new ways to get more enjoyment out of FIFA 2002, trust me! :) NK. mutiger 22-04-2003, 05:32:PM Hey man, I think the night lighting's really good right now...far better than it was. That's one thing I haven't mentioned in my reviews so far...the different lighting patterns...really cool stuff. The only thing about that is...on cloudy days...perhaps the shadows shouldn't be so pronounced...but that's really being very picky and certainly not worth worrying very much about. Also not worth worrying about are the parries by the goalies. If the result of trying to get them to catch more is more goals on those types of shots...then please...don't worry a thing at all about it. Games are still very competitive and can be quite low scoring depending on the teams. I scored a goal I just have to tell you about that highlites the shooting system. Playing as Bayern Munich against Liverpool...Dudek came way out to the corner of his box to clear. His clearance made it as far as just beyond midfield where Sagnol headed the ball back. The ball bounced once just inside the Liverpool half...Ballack picked it up...and I thought I'd just drive the ball back toward the LIverpool goal to see if Elber or Santa Cruz was lurking about. So Ballack unleashed...and I was stunned to see the ball sail over my attackers...bounce once in the middle of the six yard box...and hop neatly into the goal...with Dudek scrambling back...still two to three yards away when the ball went in. Would never have happened before...the shot would have died well short of the penalty area...greta figgin' stuff! Really having a blast with this new gameplay...kicking arse in La Liga with Real Madrid...getting my arse kicked as Hannover (What can I say...I love the stadium) in the Bundesliga...and doing just enough to scrape out wins with Bayern Munich in the "Gameplay Challenge Cup"...top of the table with 19 goals in ten games...although a 6-0 demolition of Anderlecht has something to do with that total. Only one loss but 4 draws. Most games 1-0, 2-1...great stuff! Cheers....and looking forward to the latest update as usual! mutiger nickclubman 22-04-2003, 06:49:PM cheers mate, always great to hear what you have to say. :) Yep, my latest update is coming along really well, I enjoy playing it myself a lot! :D NK. nickclubman 22-04-2003, 10:51:PM I don't know if I'll release a beta yet, depends on how long it'll take to make, but I doubt it'll take as long as my latest update released. NK. Dhruv 04-05-2003, 07:15:PM NK heres my e-mail send it ASAP dhruv84@hotmail.com nickclubman 04-05-2003, 07:58:PM www.clubman.plus.com/gameplay/gameplayupdate.exe Link above mate. :) New update in development and a new website coming soon!!!!! :D NK. nickclubman 07-05-2003, 03:42:AM *Expect a vastly improved shooting system. *Taking on the CPU is harder, especially using skill moves. *The overall CPU attack is better. *Players’ have to be more accurate with their tackling to get the ball. *Play is more balanced and harder to win. More information coming soon... NK. |
