View Full Version : SEGASports Soccer Game?
yt23w 23-04-2003, 12:09:PM With a majority of people saying that Konami (Winning Eleven 6, Pro Evolution Soccer 2) are the cutting edge in Soccer Gaming over EASports' FIFA2003 has anyone thought about a possibly game from SegaSports?
While Sega Sports dominates the current market in American Football(NFL2k3 and NCAA College Football 2K3), Basketball (NBA2K3 and NCAA College Basketball 2K3) and Ice Hockey (NHL2k3) games, they haven't yet tapped into the Soccer market. But would enough people support non-professional-licenced a game from SS?
But SegaSports have ESPN to back their games. With ESPN, SS could get the attention of FIFA....Could a SS FIFA2k3/2k4 be on the horizion? With ESPN backing?
Would this completely blow all the other games away?
Keep in mind that the 2k3 series has some of the best gameplay ever, a vast array of options to choose from to allow a user to tweak their game the way they want it, much better commentary than most sports games, excellent graphics, and being realistic without taking away from the entertainment. So with SS providing the ultimate gaming experience, FIFA bringing the big names and teams to the mix and ESPN adding the final touches, could these three change soccer games forever?
jmsbc 25-04-2003, 11:01:PM Hey what's up yt23w. The thing about Konami is that they don't make a variety of sports games. What they do is focus only on Winning Eleven, which makes it so good. I've played sega games like nba2k3 and nhl, and they're pretty good games. But, let me put it this way. If Konami put as much effort into any single sports game, that game would probably be the best. (Actually we have to take into account kcet, because other konami titles like iss series aren't that good i heard) I feel that Winning eleven is the best SPORTS game out there, because it's so detailed and complete, not to mention long-lasting appeal. That's just my opinion
Internazionale 27-04-2003, 12:18:PM Question is : Would Sega release the Sega Soccer 2k3 ?
yt23w 03-05-2003, 09:57:AM Probably not. Sega Sports would more than likely concerntrate on American Sports (major American Sports) and not really go for a soccer game, because they wouldnt have the right understanding of the game. or any understanding at all for that matter.
as for knoami they need to start bringing these WE6 & PES2 to other platforms liek xbox, Gamecube, or even PC. That way they can show just how great they really are. it becuase of this i avent been able to play a version of WE6 only watch video clips of it. and it looks better than EA'sFIFA2003 anyway.
Oh, and is Winning Eleven 6 a licenced game?
jmsbc 03-05-2003, 01:50:PM licensed by fifpro, but everything else can be fixed by editing in creation center
MasterM 04-05-2003, 02:17:AM Hey
you must know that making a good soccer game is so much different than making a good baseball/ice-hockey/rugby/basketball game. Because those games are fairly simple and have less player.. Ok maybe rugby , but that hasnt got a consistant gameplay. It stops every second.
With soccer the AI has to be very good. EA is good in making their American games, but with soccer they just suck.
So I don't think SegaSports will make a good soccergame if they make it for the first time. But im sure they are a better company than EA and they will actually listen to their customers to improve their game.

Sega sports doesnt dominate the current market in america, Ea sports does. Madden 2003 is the best football game ever and so is nba live 2003 and ncaa 2003 or everyone i talk to agree

no i bought it on Ps2 and Brazil has fake names and all the club teams have fake names, for example(Arsenal is called London) thats what i like better about fifa 2003. But WE6 has alot better gameplay i can say. to bad ea and konami cant join together and make the the best soccer game ever made!!
Internazionale 28-05-2003, 05:25:AM It would be great if Sega Sports can bring Virtua Striker series in simulation mode, license, online play, & multiple consoles. It'll get more people attracted.
andremc11 30-05-2003, 06:41:AM I would definetly like a game from Sega. But not that Virtua Striker thing. That game was crap.I love the full simulation football game from Sega Japan LTD though. That game is great. That gameis the full simulation. :D ;)
