All of you may have read by now that Campbell's ban is upheld, which means our boy has an early vacation.

That's an absolute disgrace and complete disappointment. It shouldn't affect the team too much at this stage, but it surely affects Campbell, and there may be the long term effect in Arsenal vs ManU games.

Anyway, here's a little controversy/conspiracy I picked up from an Arsenal site.

The asst. referee who facilitated Campbell's red card has been named to perform those duties at the FA Cup Final.
He of course is famous for this quote,

"‘He’s caught him with the elbow, its definitely yellow, it’s up to you whether it’s a red"

and this quote,

"He seemed to stop.. he seemed to stop and deliberately catch him…elbow in the face"

But that's not all he is famous for, this asst. referee was in a mini-controversy when he offciated at a LEEDS vs MANU match, while on sick leave from his 'real' job.

Funny thing about that match though.
During that game Beckham flattened Bowyer with an elbow to the head, but nothing came of it because the ref and his asst. saw it as a foul, but nothing more.

As the guy on the Arsenal site wrote,
"You couldn’t make up a story like that if you tried could you?"

since u said that it is an arsenal thread.. so i'll just post one reply... controversy/conspiracy or not.. i don't know.. but i do know that campbell didn't delibrately elbow ole, and ole acted so it is a harsh red card for campbell.. but campbell should have been off in the Arsenal vs Liverpool match in highbury for bring down baros and he was the last defender and didn't get a yellow card.. if hyypia were to being send off in the man u match as the last defender then i don't see why campbell should be in that match also.. so everything even it up... THE END!!!!;)

That red-card is old news. It happened, it's gone, and now it's Cygan time.

The story really is about the asst. referee who gets to go to Cardiff and run on the pitch while our stopper sits in his suit , either sulking because we lost the Championship, or sulking because they won the Championship and he can't help win the double.

The part with Beckham just illustrates how football is a funny game and how things can either go for you or against you.

By the way Arsenal fans, the game tomorrow is being officiated by Durso, I think, that's the guy who has a long history with Arsenal, and particularly Vieria and Jeffers.
I think he is also the chap who got Vieria suspended because he(Vieria), hurt his feelings.

It would be very unfortunate if this 4 match ban affects the championship......Ole should have spoken out (one way or another), instead of being hushed up by Ferguson. Things like this chip away at your integrity, and while I still like Ole, my respect for him has dropped just a little.

I think that the media just, talk up arsenal incidents too much, not so much this but others, so that they go to reviews or whatever.

WE dont see an inquest into van nistlerooys karate lunge on lauren and his attack on keown at trafford, because the media just pick up on the FOREIGN dominated arsenal team. Especiall y newspapers like the sun who have been known in the 70s to show certain racist elements

Again you're immidiately try to balance everything out by referring to ManUtd or their players. :kader: You could also have taken aim at Shearer during the ManUtd game and I'm sure there are many more incidents. Anyway I think the ban is way too harsh (heck I'm a ManUTd fan, why am I saying this? Oh yeah it's because I'm a fair and realistic watcher of the game). Campbell caught Ole in my opnion but he didn't intended to. I feel sorry for Campbell though, he now misses the FA Cup final which are always great games to feature in.

Well, well, well, the man who call himself as a logical man. Starting a thread with a limitation where a non-Arsenal supporter may not enter IN AN OPEN FORUM, very logical indeed you are . . .

I suppose you didn`t even read any of my post defending Campbell, lots of Man U fans too think the decision was too harsh. The reffere suck big time on both teams, so what ? What`s your point ? We got an off-side goal conceded against us, while you only got a player sent off. And aren`t you the same guy that posted "players with pride will tend to do some hard tackle when their teams are down, and if a foul or a card occur so let it be", that`s exactly what Sol did, so what are you whining about ?

It's a public board. I don't know what you are trying to gain at by starting threads and dictating who can enter them or not.

If the top panel of the FA, a referee and a linesman agrees he should be punished, who are you to tell them they are wrong.

Campbell broke the rules. Now live with it.

I hope Cygan out proforms all the other defenders, then you all can't say crap you'll just have to sit there and cry about it.

On the other hand, we'd better start praying that Keown stays fit, or else we could have Luzney at the back.

Add worse news, Edu is out, the good news is that we have Ray Parlour, who MUST stay fit, or else it's......yes, Kolo Toure.

Let's hope he don't injure himself during a pre-match warm up eh. :D

See I don't get Cygan...when he was playing for Lille in the UCL against Man U (was it 2 seasons back?... ) he looked imposing and secure but now he seems to have lost his confidence. Same with Bruno Cheyrou (sp?) coz when he was at Lille he looked classy even in the UCL but now he looks like a piece of crap at Liverpool..:o

yeah as funny and awesome as it was to see campbell red carded, Solsjaer did alot of acting

The linesman stutterd "He hit him" then he says "no he deliberatly hit him" like as if he just wanted to see campbell get sent off

dont kno, but it cant be changed can it?

I didn`t call you looser for posting in Man U threads, it just that there`s one of you who keeps whining around in Man U thread. It`s not you, but I guess you got the idea who it is . . .

I think the red card was harsh but fair.

Campbell's elbow did catch Solskjaer's face and both the referee and assistant thought it was deliberate.

Video evidence could not really tell whether the elbow was deliberate or not so in this case we need to respect the referee's decision.

By definition an elbow is violent conduct and is worth a three match ban. And that was Campbell's second red card so it's a four match ban.

...

Cygan got hurt, Lauren too, Keown is only 50% fit, we don't have Campbell, Freddie was in real pain leaving the pitch, add this to already injured Rami Shaaban, Franny Jeffers, Patrick Vieria and Edu.

It's pretty crap, the title is all but lost, our new backline is probley:

Luzney - Stepanovs - Keown - Cole

Midfield is probley:

Pires - Gilberto - Parlour - Van Bronkhorst

Front is still ok:

Henry - Wiltord/Bergkamp

i have no other comments.

Disgrace? Ha!

What's his arms doing up round Ole's face when the ball is 6 feet below his arm.
