i just got myself CM 4 today , i installed it and when i wanted to play it just go's black and nothin happens , whats up with that ?

A29. A large amount of the time this is to do with issues with the style of copy protection used on the Championship Manager 4.

The first thing to you should do is to ensure that you have the CM4 CD in the drive when you are attempting to launch the game, and that your CDROM drive recognizes that it is inserted. (as seen in My Computer)

If you have certain CD-burning software installed, such as Nero Burning Rom, or other system tools like Inseektors, Daemon Tools, or others, you may need to disable any processes the software installs, such as the NeroCheck utility installed with Nero.

This problem may also occur if you are running debuggers, decompilers, or CD-ROM Drive emulators on your system, or if you are using Real Mode [DOS] drivers for your CD-ROM drive.

If you are still having the problem after taking these steps, you may need to upgrade the firmware in your CD-ROM drive.
Please contact your equipment manufacturer if you need assistance with this.

I have a problem simliar to this one when i double click on the icon on my desktop nothing happens so i click on it again and it says error CM4 is already running. 5 minutes later nothing is happening

My mate had a similat problem but he just ran less leagues, but is your prob before game loads up?

It has to do with making clone (not copy) CD images. When you copy a CD, it only copies the data, when you do a full 1:1 copy (a clone) it does everything, all the subcode on the CD, plus the actual program data.

Basicly, if the game detects tools that could be used to run a clone CD (a cd drive emulator is a partition on your hard drive that acts as a CD), it won't work.

This is what i had to do. I had to uninstall my Cm4 and get rid of all my extra stuff Badges, Faces, Backgrounds because i dont have enough ram to run it will all that extra stuff then i reinstalled it and it works fine now.

I did that :$ and had the same problem, it just went black, so I gave up :(

I bought the game and experienced the same problem when using the CD - it goes black with a strange white border box to the top left.

Then after some frustration I went to the directory where the same was installed - Progam Files/ Eidos Interactive/CM4 clicked on the icon
and walla it worked.

I suggest if your clicking on the CD you burned it on copy the files into a directory or if that doesnt work - BUY THE GAME LIKE EVERYONE ELSE (else meaning me and Trod) :p

I dont care about Warez as I do both buy and dl games but really if you want a game so badly and dont want the chance of getting a virus or a ****ed up motoracer game or whatever

you will buy a game.

I have never ever used a pirated version of anything, besides smelly Super Nintendo I used to own. So they were backups until they were sold for 10c.:p
