I know there are some guys from New Zealand on this forum. On June 8th we'll play the Kiwis as a tune-up for the Confeds. Cup.

Match slated for June 8 in Virginia

CHICAGO -- The United States will play New Zealand on June 8 at Richmond, Va., in the Americans' final exhibition game before the FIFA Confederations Cup.

The United States also has upcoming games against Mexico on May 8 at Houston and against Wales on May 26 at San Jose, Calif.

The Americans, the champion of soccer's North and Central American and Caribbean region, play Turkey (June 19), World Cup champion Brazil (June 21) and African champion Cameroon (June 23) at the Confederations Cup in France.

New Zealand, the Oceania champion, also is in the tournament, playing Asian champion Japan (June 18), South American champion Colombia (June 20) and European champion France (June 22).

In their only previous meeting, the U.S. team beat New Zealand 2-1 in the first round of the 1999 Confederations Cup on goals by Brian McBride and Jovan Kirovski.

This will be fun, with 3 New Zealand internationals playing in MLS. Bring it on, Simon Elliot! :D :p

I hope the hard-tackling Duncan Oughton of the Columbus Crew is in the Kiwi side...It'd be great to see him match up against teammates McBride and Hejduk in the U.S. side. :rockman:

I'd have to support the Kiwis, I mean irrelevant of the fact that we played a Z grade side against them in the OFC cup, and we dominated the game but let in a sloppy goal, I'd still have to support them simply because they were beat, and you always presume it was a good side that did it too.

I expect:

World Cup quals should be good, just Australia, NZ, and two other sides..(Fiji and Tahiti??? anyone guess who they'll be?)

As for this match, Ill go for NZ, cos they're almost like a state of Australia...
