I had a little bit of freetime today since it was the weekend, and I thought I would look at the problem which has been bugging me for like a few months: the specific boot problem.

As many of you might know, currently FIFA 2003 only allows assignment of boots to 12 players, no more. However, this might no longer be the case.

I looked into the .exe and in particular the section where I first discovered where the boot numbers are stored. However, this time I had the knowledge of how assembly code work. Before, I (and also Ariel) have always try to find a way to add more IDs to this section, but it cannot be done, since this would change the addressing later on. However, this was actually the wrong way to solve the problem. It's like there is a SNEAKY ;);) way of solving the problem - redirection. Anyway, it's difficult to explain, since most (probably ALL) of you won't have any idea of what assembly code is, so I will spare you the techno-babble (just as Carver said in Tomorrow Never Dies;);) )

Ok, this is what I THINK I have achieved (but is yet to be tested FULLY), so don't come screaming and complaining if it was actually not functionable, but I am pretty sure (90%):

1. Specific boots for players with specific face (i.e. a total of 1024 players) (however, only problem is that all players with specific face MUST have specific boots as well - no big deal really)
2. One set of boots for players with generic face
3. One set of boots for the officials

This discovery was, I thought, pretty sweet, so I felt I might share it with you ppl straight away.

If I find time again, I will do more testing.

I am currently discussing this issue with Ariel already;)

There are 202 specific faces (not including newly created faces with face raptor). So presumably, if I understand correctly, it is only these 202 players that need assigned boots?

Just to inform that I have encountered some problems, it seems like 14 boots is ok, but the 15th causes some probs....more testing needed....

i also have thought about this problem for a long time .
what i rearlly don't know is that where the links to set the 12 players' boots are ! (are they in DBI files ?)
and i thought that the boots links setting in Fifa2002 maybe like the way in Fifa2003 ......cauz there also are boots No. setting in the DBI files !

The problem at the moment is that we have pushed the limit upto 18, any more than 18 the game will crash. Ariel is working on something, but no guarantees.

This is not my problem at the moment, since I have no idea of the fsh format. Until we can make the break through, or exhausted all possibilities, we just have to keep on trying. If nothing works, we will have to think of something which makes ppl not go over that limit.

18 is 6 more than 12, so keep it up! =)

yeah, if the 18boots thing could be released it would be nice aswell, since if you have 18boots, you can have almost 2 full lineups with custom boots. as a bootmaker i´d especially like it..

hercules you have misunderstood....nobody is asking for release dates....since increasing the number of boots in Fifa 2K3 is not easy but you have made it possible so everyone is just praising you...there is no need to loose interest....

when someone does a nice job then it's people appreciate it and becomes curious about it....simple...so don't become angry...just get coooooolllllllllll...then you will concentrate more....
