View Full Version : Eurovision!!!!!!!!!!!!!
zul-aid 15-05-2003, 01:53:PM Anyone watch it, anyone like it.
The british host Terry Wilke or whomever has been pulled by Australia's station showing it as they say his racist.
Anyway moving along rumoured that TATU will play as the only known act.
Anyone know of any others - I hope Lativa dont win again :p
mhflierman 15-05-2003, 02:35:PM The Eurovision Songfestival is probably the worst contest ever. Watching that show just makes me feel sick. "England, 12 points, England 12 punkte, Angleterre douze points" :kader:
briggzy 15-05-2003, 03:05:PM ****e.......Eurovision is what that word was invented for
Hendrik 15-05-2003, 03:23:PM It's always funny to watch :D
I hate the Eurovision Song Contest...
It's kitsch of the highest order, it's a waste of time, and the Beeb always show it with feckin' Wogan doing the commentary... Uuuuhhh
BTW Maarten, it's Great Britain, not England :D... Grande Bretagne, nul points! :D
PhiLLer 15-05-2003, 04:50:PM The voting is a farce which makes it fun in a laughable way. I don't really mind Wogan, I liked it when he mocked the two swedish presenters 2(?) years ago, when the contest was held in Sweden:D
Britain don't really get that many points, it's the Germans who seem to rack up the points even though their song resemble something of what you would get if you mixed an 80's tune with Mozart and some German carnaval music, horrible!
Avalanche 15-05-2003, 05:10:PM yes, its true: t.A.T.u will be in the contest representing russia, but they will be singing in russian.
i always watch it for a laugh. i wonder how daft the set is going to look this year. not only that, im also looking forward to hearing some of the more bizarre nations participating. some of the entries are three minutes of hell, while others are there so they can be laughed at. to me, thats the true spirit of eurovision.

Bet ya a quid... when it comes to the votes, Greece will give Cyprus 12 points, and vice versa.
Waste of licencepayers' money...
Vazza 15-05-2003, 09:32:PM It's all too :drevil: political :drevil:....for example, every year, all the Scandinavian countries vote for each other and all the Eastern European former bloc countries like Latvia etc. vote for each other...
Shindig 15-05-2003, 09:40:PM Meh, couldnt give a flying ...... thing.
Vazza 15-05-2003, 09:43:PM Oh...forgot to mention it's a great big pile of steaming sh*t too;)

Vagegast 15-05-2003, 11:22:PM HOLLAND HOLLAND HOLLAND HOLLAND!! :rockman:
Maarten, are the Dutch performing this year?
Hendrik 15-05-2003, 11:26:PM Yep, Esther Hart with "One More Night"...
zul-aid 16-05-2003, 01:10:AM Well Estonia got piped by Lativa last year
and yes the commentator Wogan was whom i was trying to say he has been pulled off here in Australia - instead if you want to listern to him you have to wait the next week at midnight to watch him :p
Anyway its pretty obvious majority of neighbours vote for each other, however their seems to be a promotion - relegation type thing because, a few countries there last year will not be able to vote this year - I truely only watch it for a laugh, and you cannot laugh at it :p
Neighbours vote for each other?
I doubt very much that the UK would vote for France! :D
zul-aid 16-05-2003, 01:16:AM majority I said - and you maybe surprised, besided Germany who else would they vote 4?

I think so, though I can't really give a flying ****. :D (H) :mrpimp:
Avalanche 17-05-2003, 02:09:AM i cant wait for my country to get a big nul points next saturday......that is what you get when you have a crappy ballad sung entirely in portuguese. anyway, who cares, its a proven fact that portugal bombs at eurovision every year. :mrpimp:
Help? 17-05-2003, 02:27:AM I don't know if the majority votes for neighbours or not, but if a country puts in a great performance, they will then finish 1st. Example was Alsy from Russia 2 years ago with a song called "Solo", the only decent song in that competition from that year and i still don't understand how could Denmark beat her?
Hearts_FC 17-05-2003, 03:23:AM Come on guys we all know it's a big pile of sh!te...but it's a great time to get in a few beers and laugh at the supposedly best song of the particular countries...unfortunitly i'll miss it here in the U.S :(
Anyone know if the beeb are broadcasting via the web?
And why is Wogan rascist? I do know he gets rather lippy when he does his commentry...it's the free pre-show bevvy :D
Hearts_FC 17-05-2003, 03:26:AM By the way anyone remember the UK entry a few years back Frances Roufelle or summit....she was a tidy bit of ass :p
Mind you like I said I was usually pissed when watching it...even Sonia looked ****ing hot :D
INFESTA 17-05-2003, 12:44:PM Kitsch at its best, which means it's crap at its worse. (H)
Really, this show is so bad, so bad... My parents told me it made sense 25 years ago, when it was a hugely popular event in europe, something at the scale of a CL final or something. Now, it's just ridiculous, a warp hole to worst of the 70's.
It has everything: the grandiose ballads with the pompous orchestra, the trashy and retarded retro-disco beat with spacy suits included, the 80's euro-pop with boring and out of tune electric guitars on the background, the stupidly happy marypoppinesque tunes... And all this sung in languages you've never thought they existed!! :|
HELP!

Vazza 17-05-2003, 01:09:PM Gina G...Oh ah, just a little bit...Oh ah, a little bit more:$ :S
zul-aid 17-05-2003, 01:51:PM Gina G was actually Australian (from Brisbane as well) it was just her parents were British or something so she was eligable.
I remember like 7 or 8 years ago an entry from Germany was just a guy with a long pony tail using Cow Bells.
the singer doesnt have to be from the country theyre singing from
its the person that actually writes the song that has to be from that country as shown by estonia who had an estonian and a cuban singing for them two years ago
moving on i watch Eurovision every year cos its a laugh, especially last year when Greece brought on some dancing men in american football suits singing about passwords
briggzy 17-05-2003, 03:11:PM Its the whole :drevil: Political Voting :drevil: thing that makes it a farce.... (e.g. England not voting fro France, Germany etc. Austia voting for Germany etc)
Oh and the music plays a massive part in it aswell :p

briggzy 17-05-2003, 04:03:PM Just using it as an example..........
also, wen the germans had that mad ****er who started climbing the set a year or two back all the germans on the austrian border went across and voted for him, apperntely

Absolutely,
I remember a certain Céline Dion represented Switzerland in the event about 15 years ago and won. Last year there was some Swedish lass who represented Estonia...
I remember that Greek one, I almost choked my beer when I saw it! Bloody "MALAKES" haha :D
Hearts_FC 17-05-2003, 09:23:PM Or the American Katrina and the Waves winning it for the UK a couple years ago.

Guildo Horn! I don´t like this guy.
But this guy Stefan Raab was his producer and he usually is a comedian if you can call him a comedian. http://www.radiobremen.de/online/corinna_may/_bild/raab_stefan.jpg
zul-aid 18-05-2003, 01:36:AM The bloke with the balde head and with the long hair at the back was I think the bloke with the cow bells.
All comedy shows here in Australia made fun of him for weeks.
PhiLLer 18-05-2003, 01:58:AM Also this year some dutch girl had entered to represent both/either UK or Holland. She didn't win the National Songfestival in England so she's not representing them but I dunno if she got to represent Holland...it's a bit odd this whole Eurovision crap.
My bet for this year is on some economically poor easter european country...one of them ex commie countries.
Avalanche 18-05-2003, 03:30:AM philler, some backward, ex-communist nation WILL win. the only question is, which one?
if eurovison was picked up by an american channel (i live in the only state that is getting it--it pays to have 2 in 5 people to be portuguese), im pretty sure letterman and leno would have a veritable goldmine of material for weeks, maybe even months.

Hendrik 24-05-2003, 10:02:PM 15 minutes to go.
I'm going to vote for Poland.
Internazionale 25-05-2003, 12:34:AM I'd like to see this show personally.
:$ :$
Hendrik 25-05-2003, 01:33:AM Turkey won it :)
Oh and 0 points to the UK (H) :bob: :mrsilva:
PhiLLer 25-05-2003, 01:41:AM What can I say...Austria:rolleyes:
Picking your fav from a eurovision contest is like lining up Saddam, Osama and Hitler and choosing which one will have the honour of bombing your house.
Hendrik 25-05-2003, 01:45:AM What was wrong with Austria? :D
ROFL! Grande Bretagne... null points! (H)
Who cares, I'm not British, I'm Welsh... (H) Who gives a **** anyhow?

Jemini (UK entry) were f*cking awful, as were all the acts (less so than Jemini)...the only redeeming feature of Jemini was that the girl had nice legs (her voice was so outa tune, it was horrendous):( .
Vazza 25-05-2003, 02:07:AM I'm gonna cry myself to sleep now...
anashassan170 25-05-2003, 02:09:AM Congratulations to Turkey!!! Just beat Belgium by 2 points!!! Aaaa, so close!
Anas
That Jemini were a pair of talentless ****s anyway... (H)
How did those Russian tuppence lickers get on?
anashassan170 25-05-2003, 02:10:AM How on earth did the UK get nothing? :S
Anas
Hendrik 25-05-2003, 02:16:AM Originally posted by anashassan170

Anas Well I think there are two reasons:
1. The song was sh!t
2. War on Iraq (f*cking war mongers :kader: )
anashassan170 25-05-2003, 02:17:AM I'm thinking along those lines, yeah. I'm sure the war on Iraq was a main reason.
Anas
zul-aid 25-05-2003, 02:58:AM Well if thats the case why didnt the 30 eastern block "coalition forces" pro-war countrys vote for UK? they offered assisstance what Lativa a key coalition country
Tatu came 3rd a bit dissapointing for them since they probably wont win anything else again.

Because the people have voted. Only their governments were pro war.
Russia should have won.T.A.T.U had the best song.;)
but the vote is polliticaly as always. Greece takes 12 points from Cyprus and Cyprus from Greece and U.K didn't get any point because the song was *******,they didn't sing they speak and the war.But even if there wasn't war the song was ****
They haven't show it here in Australia yet, and from the sounds of it...
It sucked.
As usual.
From the last two years when I watched it, I got a good laugh... I am sure I'll get another good laugh.
Man, europe must really suck balls, if the music talent on eurovision is the best they have... :|
briggzy 25-05-2003, 01:43:PM Nah, not the best. UK always put second rate acts in. Russia put there best in and still get beat by a bunch of belly dancer's! Wogan's comments kick ass
TOON ARMY 25-05-2003, 01:59:PM All the Eurovision is an indicator of whom is liked best in Europe. It seems the UK isn't liked at all, i wonder why:rolleyes:
As for Turkey we all know why they were voted so much
Jono82 25-05-2003, 04:48:PM If this whole thing is :drevil: Political :drevil: WHY DID GERMANY GIVE POLAND 12 POINTS?!?!?!

Gerrard 17 25-05-2003, 07:00:PM Yeah, they actually wanted to represent Germany, but then you said no, so they applied in Poland, and then Germany got back to them saying they could sing for Germany, but it was too late because they were already chosen for Poland :|
He said that next year he wants to sing for Germany though. Everyone judges him on looks, he looks like a really ****ed up child, but his music isn't really that bad. I actually quite liked the song they performed :S
Help? 25-05-2003, 07:19:PM ****!!! Turkey won!!!!! This is no good. It's all because of those stupid journalists who putted TATY down:f***: .

Avalanche 25-05-2003, 10:11:PM now for my thoughts on the evening (bear with me, because it's long)
-alf poier (AUT) was a waste of three minutes. i went into near apolexy because he got points. maybe he got those votes because all of europe was too drunk to think clearly.
-the portuguese representative (rita guerra) sucked as usual. she sounded like she had marbles in her mouth, especially during the english language part.
-was it just me, or did the german representative (lou--a woman, go facking figure) say "lets get gay" during her song? if it were gay as in t.A.T.u, i'll pass. on a totally unrelated note, they should have hired the man with the receding hairline that did the cowbells thing again.
-speaking of whom, i was glad that they didn't win. if they did, im pretty sure the lads at the ebu, ltv (host broadcaster), and svt (assisted ltv), would have put up a card that says "technical difficulites-please stand by", followed by the credits.
-the british reps (jemini) getting a big, fat, "nul points" was the high point of the evening.
-the lead singer of ich troje (POL) sounded like he smoked a whole carton of marlboro reds before he took the stage.
-stelios constantas (CYP) looked like a sex offender on stage.
-the bosnians screwing up their vote announcement was sheer class.
-the announcement of it being expanded to two nights next year means that we may have to put up with more of this excrement.
i was too drunk to remember the rest, so thats all.
Vazza 25-05-2003, 10:18:PM http://www.keithm.utvinternet.ie/images/10_Germany.JPG
