I think that's a bit of a grey area, in that some countries allow mod chips and some don't... It depends on the admin and mods' discretion if the talk of mod chips is alright or not, so I don't really know.

well it depends wot you wanna use it for if you can talk bout it on here or not! if its coz u want to play imported games its ok, if you want talk about using it for copied games then you cant:)

Sony recognize the mod chips as "illegal." Sony are still fighting in the recent cases of "Messiah mod chips."

You wouldn't find them in major retailers, but you could find them ALOT in "Black-Market" game stores.

the messiah ones i have heard are the best ones around, but quite expensive:) :o

But down under, they were ruled as being perfectly legal!

Cd recorders are legal yet u can use one to copy copyrighted cd's...so my point is that it doesn't matter if it is legal to have a mod chip, what matters is what u do with it...
using it to play backups of games u don't legally own is illegal, but for playing imported games, which can only be done with the chip, is legal :rolleyes:

I am a bit confused about if it's legal or not. :rolleyes: Don't understand what is happening at the moment.

illegal = playing copys og games u dont own
legal = playing imports of games and backups of full versions which u own
