Well Uli Hoesness Bayern Munich's manager has said in regards to Madrid:

"I have never seen a theater of monkeys of that nature. Besides Beckham is not that good"

He also goes on to say that Madrid are an example of what should not be done and that Beckham's play will make no difference for Madrid.

Apparently he was being very sarcastic, and plain nasty about his Spanish Archrivals......so is it fair criticism and the truth...or just another guy who is envious of Madrid's wealth??

here is the article in spanish

It's a bit of both really. The Beckham circus has been well documented, and it is reaching a point when everyone that follows football is getting rather sick of it. The televised medical was stupid, as are the newspaper reports on Beckham's every move. On the other hand, Hoeness is probably jealous that Real Madrid could afford to buy Beckham.

it's partly true, so cut him some slack.
Although I would have said THEATRE myself. Damned Americans........always playing the ManU with the language.

i tend to sympathize with Hoeness.

Its not jealousy... more like frustration as Beckham and Madrid don't deserve the kind of publicity they got with the Beckham transfer.

something like 7000 #23 jerseys sold in 2 hours i heard ? makes me sick.

Maybe could be better that guy "focus his mind" trying to help Bayern Munich so maybe next season they will do better in Champions League, since last season they ended at the last position of his group :P

Doing jokes about other teams i think is useless.

I agree that the Beckham circus is ridiculous. He's a good footballer, but his movements off the pitch are followed like the Pope's or Michael Jackson's. Becks isn't worth all of that attention. If attention is given based on footballing talent, Ronaldo should be the one with the media circus surrounding him.

i heard over 2 billion people watched the beckham medical fitness thing on the telly. that's the 3rd of the population. wow. anyway, i think the guy is fustrated and partially jealous of madrid., he should concentreates on bayern muchen.

Yeah some of the things surrounding Beckham's move to Real have been outrageous but this guy need to concentrate on other things...

like which players to steal from his closest rivals in the Bundesliga

or to make up excuses to use for when Bayern get eliminated from the Champions League group stage again (H)

Why watch Beckham get a physical when I'm sure there's a good porn on or something.

I just can't believe this quote from an article about Beckham...

"David Beckham has extraordinary toenails, they are incredibly strong, healthy and, above all, thick."
-John Carlin, who interviewed Beckham for Real Madrid TV.

Honestly, who gives a sh*t about stuff like that?

I KNOW......I was flippling out when I read that.......just thinking to myself what the f*ck is wrong with that reporter.......

sounds funny but seriously, i dont think anyone can run on the pitch and kick the ball well and hard when his toenail is broken.

having said that, this is not worth a read, though.

Yeah, it is true that any injury to your foot, even a small one, can make it difficult to play football. Even so, I don't care to know all the qualities of Beckham's toenails.

Next, we'll probably hear an analysis of his nipples and how they'll affect his ability to chest the ball. :crazyboy:

Yeah, I am wondering if he was giving Beckham a foot massage while interviewing him. How else would he be able to describe his nails so intimately?

Bit of both. There's no real need for the boss of Bayern to say anything but it's partly true. I thought the media circus was getting bad around Beckham towards the end of his time at Man Utd, but now it's incredible. A pay-per-view medical! What sad loser is going to want to watch Beckham having his blood pressure checked?!

He's now going to have the Spanish and English paperazzi following his every move obsessively. He managed to deal with the media intrusion when he was with Man Utd, but it's shot through the roof now. It might be more distracting for the other, better players at Real Madrid like Raul, Zidane and Ronaldo.

Obviously this is sour grapes. Uli Hoeness is renowned for his pathetic outbursts. If you critize someone you do that with respect to that person. Saying things like "I have never seen a theater of monkeys of that nature. Besides Beckham is not that good" is just disrespectful.
