I dunno guys, I think it's looking pretty decent. Only thing I found a little weird with this clip is that in the first goal, when the attacker puts it past the keeper, the keeper still goes down with his hands raised. No wonder he let the ball past him!

ye, keeper dives with hands up during a low shot. He should reach with his hands down, this looks like a rookie kid who is affraid of the ball...

the first guy danny says they will use pixel precize positioning of the player. That just shows how EA is only focused on the looks of the game. Its imposiible to position the players perfectly unless you let them run at incredibly speed to the right position. Like in fifa2003 the player could run at lightning speed just to be in the good position for a header.
Its better to skip some little animations, so it will look less scripted and forced. I hate to bring it up, but in we6fe you can see in the replays that some animations are skipped, but ingame you wont even notice.

EA should copletely eliminate this type of animation. If I will see it in the demo - I will not buy the game... I promise.

well it depends pretty much on the situation if a player is ALONE at close to the keeper normally he will try a high powered shot only skilled players try to do a low shot and even more harder .. .try to make it tight to the bar . So normally the goalkeeper makes a dive with hes hands up because he is only trying to guess where the shot is going .

THANKS!

the games looks diferent of 2003, graphically its awesome, i still think that the more animetions the more crap gameplay we getting....of course if they complement that with a "ok" gameplay the game will be just "ok".... but i what i really liked was the ability of regconizing a player when he is tired or injured... also regconizing a X player because the way he moves....Thats cool!!

BUT if we get a "ok: gameplay you can bet i wont be paying 50 to get it.... But i Will:mrpimp:

What are you on about mate? Hmmm, more animations = crap gameplay?!?!?! :o Where did you get that one from, it's a FACT that the more random animations you have, the more football like the game will look, if you keep seeing the same stuff, it doesn't look real anymore, but if they change like they do in 2004, then it's much more realistic and the feeling in-game will be more realistic hence better gameplay. :)

Though I think you're speaking from terms of animations = graphics = more time on graphics = less time on gameplay = crap gameplay, right? Well, Animations are a part of gameplay and graphics, so that doesn't really work out there mate.

I see your point though, just wait til' demo man. :) And hey, I ain't flaming ya' just having my own opinion...as you're entitled to yours.

Man, i've been a keeper for like 10 years soon, and i know that in a 1 vs 1 situation, where the player is right in front of me, i would usually go for a place where he shoots the ball in the moment he's about to shoot, so if i miss and i see where the ball is going, i kinda stop moving in the direction i was starting to move in, and just fall a little down and sees the ball go in the net. I dont know about you guys(maybe i suck as a keeper, though my teamates said that i was one of the most impoertant resons that we won our league and came to the "state"(we have something similar to the U.S thing, but it's still something else) But enough of that. I think that though it sure looks stupid, but hey, when did a keeper ever played 10 matches in a row and ddin't do ANYTHING which looked weird or stupid or anything abnormal than we're used to...?

well im a gk too, and in fifa, gks make ALWAYS stupid things..... its not an error in a single game, ive never seen a fifa 2003 gk making anything decent....they punch the ball like they were lenox lewis but they cant shoot the ball past the midfield...ridiculous game..

Can we not bash the video up just because the keeper sucked? Look at the bright side of things. At least this year, the game seems to feel realistic albeit the player running animations are toally crap, dunno why they still persist with that crappy jogging/running animation

I think what we need to do is wait for me, Henry, Robert and anyone else who is off to the PS Experience and wait for us to come back with all the news and opinions you guys want, it'll be fun. Maybe we have our own Q&A, LOL. :rockman: But this vid is showing animations and I think that in my opinion they look very smooth and realistic, although I think that GK animation does look a little out of place, think about the time that GK has to think, he doesn't have much time to react from being so close to the shot and it looks as though he thought the shot was going to go higher, but he was tricked...have faith :)

that looks like Barthez against madrid..... and most goalies do dive that way.. since they are commited before the ball leaves the foot.. and they try to cover as much space as possible

Very true Valioso, I cannot see why this isn't the reason, as although it does look a tad out of place, I believe that he is trying to stop the shot from going over him or below (arms raised, yet still falls to ground). But he's just too late. :( :crazyboy:

also.. bashing EA after every single video with info, is getting old.. the game is almost 4 months away.. so nothing is finished and optimized.. yes the videos are a PR thing, but they are just giving info about the game.. not saying their game is gonna be better than anyone else's, they just talk about what they are doing to make their game better... and who ever says that they didnt think the animation of del piero doing those moves at the end is great.. then they are blind.

I am as skeptic as everyone else about the game, but I am not going to join the cheap bashing of EA just because they are releasing videos to give information. Just watch them or not watch them, and if all the info they are releasing so far they manage to implement it and make it work good.. then it will be a much better game than 2k3.. and to those that say is just like 2k3... have u played the game? how do you know wether it plays the same? anyway.. to be almost 4 months away from release.. the animations are looking smooth

I think that video means just a little role in a big process of transformation. But this part of it, can be a little more than just a huge peace of game. So now my opinion will change... not from good to bad or bad to good, but from wrong and right. For a first time i saw this gameplay that made me think more about whole Ronaldo role in the football industry. After this only thing that remind me of this game was a little peace of junk mail in my computer. So what is coming to us next? maybe new with old or old with new? No metter what, I still will buy my papperoni pizza for dinner.

Thank you very much...

Damn! Those Del Piero animations at the end looked sweat! REAL SWEAT! And for all those who were ****ting their pants because: "Uh! The player kicked the all, and looked at his foot instead of where the ball was going ...." judging by this video, now even you guys can't complain! Look at Del Piero and his kick. He has his eyes glued on the ball, from the second he starts, to the second he hits the ball, and he follows it out of sight with his eyes. Realistic ... I would call it ... And yes, now I am hopeful. At last I've seen animations I really DO like. And I've heard that you can see it on the players, when they get tired ... just what I wanted to know too. I'm optimistic now

06-07-2003, 01:55:AM
I hope the ball doesn't "lock onto" players? yall know what i mean by that? lol like when you pass the ball towards a player, the ball shouldnt get sucked into the players foot.

anyone got any info on this?

thanx.

Goldfish
06-07-2003, 02:15:AM
Emmm.m8? ...in Fifa 2003 it was already separated from the foot ... though where before the ball got suck to the players foot, this year, all the world got sucked to the ball :P it still isn't as free as PES, but it no longer sticks to foot. Next year will be even more free

Ny8La8

Hmmm, well EA say it a seperate Entity, so it must have its own attributes like the player, meaning it is TOTALLY seperate...yes I do Systems Analysis!! :D And by attributes for the ball, I don't mean you can view them in-game. :crazyboy:

nickclubman
07-07-2003, 12:12:AM
I think it's like Valioso said, the keeper is spreading out to try and stop all directions (take away chances on goal), if he falls down to the floor, he can stop the ground shot, but if the ball goes over him, then hence his arms are raised, except he was too late and close to the shot. :crazyboy:

Though it might be an early animation. :D

From what I read you don't seem to know EA's twisting skills. They claim this and that but the final product will look and remain the same as from 3-4 months back. Trust me, I've been in this sorta hype for about 4 years now

to make a long story short, obviously noone can say 2k4 is a boring game, however, it doesnt take a rocket scientist to recognize a pattern. As pronewbie sed, he's been observing the "hype" for several years now, and experience is experience. i joined these boards just a few months ago and i can pick out certain peoples "experience" and "skepticism" and realize that they know what they're talking about.

Of course I want 2k4 to be a great game, and quite frankly, its looking promising so far. But when i read people saying "Ive been through this for 4 years already", its unpleasant.

Anyway, IM HOPING 2k4 WILL BE THE year of FIFA! :rockman:
