This is just what the MLS league needs-a mediocre striker who still is better then many players. This may help with league attendance also, with the iranian American community. This was obvious in the US-Iran game a while ago, when more then half the audience were iranian americans. I hope this jumpstarts other strikers with international-developed talent to come here!!!!

oh really?

Ii heard Azizi played in Bundesliga, but where specifically, I don't know...

And, Goodsport, if you live in Bay Area, I live in Walnut Creek! I have been on a few Clash's matches........

Ya i heard on Radio Iran. But USFutbol, i was at the us-iran game recently and there was way more than half the crowd iranians, i would say 95% of the people were iranians. there was this little tiny section(no offense) that was cheering for the US. So i think the earthquakes are going to sell alotta tickets when Azizi plays his first game

Azizi is a good player, he'll probably lead the league in goals, or at least be way up there.

Damn MLS is getting better, Mattheus, Valencia, Azizi, Weah on the way, pretty soon it will be like watching real soccer!

Just kidding, you know I love MLS

Well for your info, Various Styles, 70,000 people went to the Rose Bowl to watch those "11 wankers."

I believe VStyles was referring to the San Jose team as the "wankers"...

BUT...
Vstyles, it has been posted on other BB's that the Bay Area has an Iranian-American population of over 400,000 people, which is less than the 700,000 I've heard mentioned for LA, but we're still talking about something that is likely to be positive.
Azizi seems to be exactly the kind of creative attacking player that certainly won't hurt San Jose's chances of turning those ties into wins.
Regardless of whether he draws Iranian support or not, with wins will come higher attendance, not that it's been poor in the first place!

JS- in reply to your question on another board, Real Sociedad San Sebastian is another Basque team, when they and Athletic Bilbao play that is called the Basque derby.

I don't know of French teams with a Basque identity, but I do know that Atletico Madrid originally had a Basque identity, their club was set up by Basques living in Madrid, this is also the reason Atletico M. shirts are just like Athletic B. shirts.

VStyles, I've actually been posting there a lot more than here... it's just that there are so many topics you probably don't notice me as much. Because it is more active, a lot of the time, someone else has already said what I would, so I don't bother... but I'm reading.

Thanks PPower, for the information.
Is Athletic Bilbao the only team that is only Basque today?

I don't think Azizi will lead the league, but he will be a positive addition and should help the EarthQuakes to become something better than the Clash.

Yes, Athletic is still Basque-only. Real Sociedad, Im not sure if they ever had a Basque only policy, probably not.
