Blatter was interviewed yesterday on a Mexican sports show about various topics and these were his responses:

1) Concerning his decision to take back Oceania’s direct WC spot:
He said his decision was based on the plain and simple fact that Oceania is the weakest confederation in FIFA, and that the soccer ability demonstrated by this zone is extremely poor. He then said that he didn’t understand why this decision caused so much commotion, and that it was no reason to start a revolution over.

2) Concerning a possible WC expansion later in future World Cups:
He said that the World Cup will never ever expand from the current 32 team World Cup system, and this is because this system is understandable by all and it is “transparent”. In other words, he’s too stupid to understand how the expansion would work. (H) j/k

3) Concerning FIFA’s decision to not cancel the Confederation Cup final:
He said that he went personally to talk with Cameroon’s national team the day after Foe’s death and asked them if they wanted to he would cancel the game, but that they insisted on playing it as a way of paying homage to Foe. And that after the final ended Desailly went up to him and gave him his jersey due to the harsh way he was treated by the French fans.

4) Concerning his 16 team league format idea:
He said that he wants to do this so soccer players will have longer off time and their work load will be minimized. He says that its ridiculous how some soccer players have to play so many league games, along with a league cup and a continental cup. He also said that he doesn’t understand how some clubs don’t want their star players play for their national teams because according to them they’ll get too tired, yet they take them on tours to go play in other continents.

joseph blatter is an idiot all of his decisions r bad, hes takin football in the wrong direction. hes basically tryin to get the richest countries to play in major tournaments like the world cup and euro just so that the crowds will b there so that he can make money, i hate that, fact of that is makin the euro and world cup qualifiers harder by makin less groups its so stupid, in ma opinion there should only b four huge conferences in the world
-one that involves north america, central america and south america
-one that involves africa
-one that involves europe
-one that involves asia and ocania

there r way too many conferences in the world and only two of em r strong, oceania is a joke, concacaf is a joke exept us:rockman: but they hav no competition thats y they should unite the concacaf with the south american conference it would be sweet.

sounds like a good idea....but their is to many things going on within the people that run these things as well as the countries involved in these conferences....in every type of group such as Fifa and the parties that Fifa deals with Politics is what counts, and what basically decides how things will be done....just how things are done...probably wrong, but it would be just as hard to try to make things REALLY right

The Reason why it caused so much commotion is the fact that the stupid git lied to Oceania to become the FIFA President

my thoughts exactly. five spots is a bit too many considering the lack of footballing quality we have in asia. aside from us (korea), japan and saudi arabia no other nation has been proven at the world stage.. imho its just a way for fifa to get more money from asia.. (wait, its true :P )

the afc should get 3 spots, maybe 3.5. that way you've got korea, japan and saudi arabia (they're easily the best out of the rest) plus the half spot split between asia and europe. the other one remaining spot goes to ofc. (H)

Those games are SO overlooked when people are talking about CONCACAF, especially making statements like "USA is the only good team in CONCACAF" :rolleyes:

Mexico outplayed Italy in that game too. Should have won it, but they already had two wins before so it didn't matter. And that Costa Rica - Turkey result is very impressive too, considering Turkey went on to the semifinals.
