In the mean-time, I have a definate win for the WORST ever. Maradonna's hand-ball in the Mexican WC. Awful. I just want to cry every time I see it.

I think too the "hand of god" goal was the worst, it may the most famous, even more famous then that brilliant one Maradona scored soon afterwards, but you are just not allowed to score with your hand in football, it was an awful goal.

The best I think was Marco Van Basten's goal he thumped home in the Euro 88 Final against the Soviet Union.

The best goal was the famous Mahjer goal:
Porto against Bayern at the Finale of European Cup 198... He scored the goal back to the goalline!!!
One outstanding goal was Vieri (Atletico madrid) against Aston Villa (?) scoring the goal from the cornerline!!!! Just amazing!!!

Best: Maradona against england in '86, either goal, the first was a classic and it makes me crack up everytime I hear the english complain about it, and the second was soccer skill at its best.

Worst: While owens isn't the worst goal ever, people made so much of it being the 'Goal of the World Cup' (WHAT!!) that it deserves a mention. For the same reason Giggys effort against Arsenal in the FA Cup last year comes second.

BEST EVER:
It was one of three goals Bergkamp scored in the 3-3 draw with leister in 1998. The other 2 were not much worse as he scored both from the 18 yrd with what seemed like a shot with no backswing, he just guided the ball into the top right hand corner. But the best was much like his goal against Argentina in the WC but with a cherry on top.

I didn't say gigg's goal sucked, what I said was that it was over-hyped. When a player of Giggs quality comes on as a sub late in a fast paced game its not surprising that he can beat an ageing, knacked Arsenal defence thats been playing for more than 90 minutes.

Definitely, I have to say...Maradona's hand of GoD goal is the best one I have ever seen...Do you have any idea how hard it is to do that ? he concealed it almost perfectly ! but he did good to redeem himself, by taking every player from the center line to the goal, including the keeper to score =)

And the worst goal that I have ever ever ever seen is roberto baggio's in the world cup in france after conceiving his penalty, which shouldn't have been, because the Chilean player did not intend to use his hand.

I think you should name this the worst referee mistake ever, when you talk about Maradona. Though he did conceal it very well, when you saw that play live you wonder why English are complaining.

I agree with what someone else said, the tragic own goal by Andres Escobar, in WC 94 USA-Colombia, was the worst ever.

Best goals ever how could you really pick there are so many, my personal favorite is Letchkov flying header vs Germany in WC 94.

Worst goalkeeper error ever: Taibi vs LeTissier. Also in qualifiers for WC 98, Argentina-Colombia, I believe this game was the same day as the England-Italy game in Wembley. I think the Argentina goalkeeper let a simple ball roll past him thinking it was going wide of the net, but the ball went right in. If anyone remembers this play please post about it, to confirm that I remember it right.

This category is kinda stupid. Not everyone has seen the all the greatest goals cause many of them aren`t filmed. However I think the greatest goal I`ve ever witnessed was Bergkamp`s winner against Argentina in the 1998 WC. worst goal ever was The goal England scored against Germany in WC 1966. It didn`t even go in! Honourable mention: Joao Pinto`s 30 yard strike against Liechenstein in an 8-0 victory in Euro Qualifying 1999. I didn`t say its the greatest(even though it didn`t get the attention it deserved) cause you guys would be all over me like flies on $hit so I didn`t even bother. Even though many of you probably haven`t seen the darn goal.

I seem to remember a game between Raja Casablanca and Corinthians (I think.).
There was some chaos in the box, and the ball landed about a foot in front of the goalline, and the referee gave them a goal!
